So, at midwife yesterday, I was the one taking all the time and causing delays as we ended up discussing depression and doing a questionnaire to see where I was at. Ok for now but monitor mood and we'll repeat at 36 week appt. Did the tick box bit of the birth plan. Bean still head down but not engaged yet, although they could well be headbutting my bladder as it feels!
Had a couple of decent sleeps, and I can't help correlating that with the electrolyte drink.0 -
Thanks April, mine isn't this afternoon so will be restless all morning.
Arbrighton- glad your sleep is better and the midwife went ok and you're having helpful conversations about your mood. I must confess I haven't actually filled out my birth plan, but that's because I've not got super strong preferences, OH knows that I want/I trust him to advocate for me and so many people say they don't look at them. None of my midwives have asked about it either.
I struggled with the heat yesterday- wasn't helped by my baking. My freezer is now officially full so this baby needs to turn up.0 -
Good luck today penguin and vanilla.
Glad you got checked, April. The likelihood of anything happening is so small, but much better to be checked!
Firebird - what a rude awakening indeed!
Arbrighton, glad you've had a discussion with the midwife re possible depression.
Not amused cos OH is going out into London tomorrow night. He says it's fine cos it's just as though he's at work and he's not actually going to be drinking. But I had a quick labour with DD and I'm a bit scared about going into labour, even though it's still early, and him missing it! :eek:0 -
Fingers crossed it'll be ok sweetbabu- I was very anxious the last couple of times OH went away (last overnight trip was 4 weeks ago, and London was 3 weeks ago). OH helped me by saying that if he needed to get home he would even if he had to hire a car, get a taxi etc0

Best of luck penguingirl and vanilla8 for your sweeps. Hope they aren't too painful and they are super effective!
As for me I think my body is adapting to rubbish sleep! Which I suppose is a good thing... despite 1-2 wakeups a night, every night I've been feeling pretty energetic this week so far whereas in the last couple of weeks I've had severe tiredness spells. Hopefully bodes well for enjoying my last few days of work and also hope I haven't spoken too soon!
Was nice to see PILs last night after their 10 weeks away but did get a deluge of unwanted advice... OH didn't pick up on any of this being problematic and told me he finds his parents come out with a lot of rubbish and he is just used to taking everything they say with a massive pinch of salt. I think he has become so skilled in taking their advice with a pinch of salt that he doesn't even recognise when they are being judgmental / offering unwanted advice so he couldn't really empathise with me. I still need to develop this skill... but in the meantime it would be great if DH could back me up but it's hard when he's not picking up the same cues! Grrrrr. Think we both did OK on dismissing their baby name suggestions without offence but DMIL's stance on feeding is getting to me (she bottle fed from the beginning through choice and comes across to me (and DH's aunt actually) as quite anti-breastfeeding). But DH doesn't see it as anti or her many anti-breastfeeding "anecdotes" as problematic.
Thankfully my own parents are super chilled on all fronts and I can't see us having any disagreements over parenting!
Speaking of breastfeeding, attending a 1.5 hour NHS class this evening - hoping to pick up some good tips!Cleared my credit card debt of £7123.58 in a year using YNAB! Debt free date 04/12/2015.
Enjoying sending hundreds of pounds a month to savings rather than debt repayment!0 -
Might have to invest in some Arbrighton. Would love to get a full nights sleep.
Sweet it's understandable to be anxious but try not to worry I'm sure it will be fine.
Snow fingers crossed he energy levels stay up for your last few days at work. I wish people would keep their opinions to themselves when it comes to breastfeeding etc there is nothing worse then them trying to force theirs on you. I'm glad your parents are quite chilled, will make it easier and hopefully your OH will start picking up on his parents suggestions and start backing you up.
So my OH has booked a viewing in for Friday and thinks we should try make the flat look bigger. I agree with this, but seriously cannot be done with doing everything we did last time. We've just had a new carpet put down and the roofs been done. I just wish that was enough. He wants to get 'hide' all the stuff we're storing on top of the wardrobe and kitchen cupboards. Am I being a pain thinking I don't really want to be doing all that with a week to go till baby's here and that people should just understand. He works in property so he knows what he's talking about but I'm just not in the mood for it. I know I should be grateful that we've even got a viewing with the current market right now here but argh :mad:0 -
Not mse april, but might be sanity saving- my parents wanted to quickly put their house on the market and got removal men in to box stuff up and put in their garage. Would that be an option? Their removal men charged £50 per hour for 2 men and worked really quickly- definitely saved a lot of stress as my parents are hoarders and had lived their since the 1980s. Failing that I think I'd say to OH that if he wants it put away then he's going to need to take a day off to do it, or postpone the viewing to Sunday and get it done on Saturday (assuming he works Mon-Fri)0

Thanks for the sweep wishes everyone, it seemed to go ok. Midwife said my cervix was already open and could touch the head and could easily get her two fingers round for a good sweep. It wasn't painful just uncomfortable.
Bleed straight away so defo have a pad on if you are having one.
Went for a short walk up the high street afterwards and had a few cramps and heavy feeling. Fingers crossed something develops!0 -
My sweep was also fine- definitely no worse than a smear, although does obviously feel different. Mine also looked promising- cervix is soft and central, I'm 1cm dilated and head is engaged. Another one booked for Tuesday, although she looked at the diary for Friday and said I could ring up for another then if I want as well. Induction booked for 1st June, but she doesn't think we'll get that far. I haven't had any bleeding. She said I might get spotting, but anything heavier ring the labour ward.
Fingers crossed for both of us vanilla! Apparently if it works it's going to do it with 48 hours.0 -
So exciting! Fingers crossed for you both! :j0
