Thanks April. Just back from the hospital and baby is breech. Was very strange to see him again- even if I was hoping to see a bum not a face! He's so big now it's crazy. I'm booked in for tomorrow morning for an ECV. There's about a 50% chance of it working, so plan B would be a planned c-section next week. Am not particularly looking forward to tomorrow, but OH can stay with me throughout, they've said they will stop at any time if it gets too painful and it normally only takes about 10 minutes to do the actual procedure. I figured it was worth a go, as I think I would regret not trying and there is no pain free way of getting a baby out!0

Sorry to hear of breech penguin, hoping the ECV works for you and baby turns.
Very envious of your massage snow! Yes I'm 38 weeks and feet swelling now, roll on tomorrow.
Quite looking forward to doing some batch cooking next week and filling the freezer up. Oh and must wash babys clothes!0 -
penguingirl, best of luck for your ECV today. Remember you will still have a baby within a couple of weeks, whatever the outcome!
My massage last night was divine. Just what I needed. Feeling the most alive I have all week this morning and it's a Friday; woohoo!Cleared my credit card debt of £7123.58 in a year using YNAB! Debt free date 04/12/2015.
Enjoying sending hundreds of pounds a month to savings rather than debt repayment!0 -
Penguin good luck with the ECV today. Hopefully they are able to help baby turn.
Snow glad you enjoyed your massageI think I need to book myself in for another one, my legs & hips are killing me!
Vanilla ive spent this week washing baby clothes. OH can't get over how tiny they are, even though he was there when the majority of them was purchased. Silly husband.
Another 3.30 wake up call for me. Yesterday it was my pubic bone being in absolutely agony and today was my hips/legs. Ready for the little one to come now, put an end to the pain. Oh that and the foot in the ribs :rotfl:0 -
Good luck Penguin for the ECV today.
Snow the massage sounds lovely, think I could do with one, the SPD is still debilitating, in pain pretty much 100% of the time now and my codeine has run out but not going to go and get any more as best not to take too much especially so close to delivery.
I'm at the hospital on Tuesday for a growth scan and to hopefully get a date for induction, which should be around week 39-40.
Really trying to stay positive and enjoy these last few weeks, but its so hard, Im ready for it to be over and to meet my little one now0 -
Thanks for your messages ladies- I did read them this morning and it helped. I'm delighted to report that the ECV worked! Think everyone was super surprised, even the consultant who mentioned several times that he's 'not a small baby' which would make it tricky, and afterwards he told us he'd already started looking at the c-section list for Monday/Tuesday to book us in. The ECV itself was pretty uncomfortable (and had some eye watering moments), but it only took a few minutes, the Consultant said he would only try once and said he would stop at any time so it felt bearable and I felt very in control. Breathing and some hypnobirthing and visualisation stuff helped a lot, and the midwife was chatting to me when she realised I was happy to chat back and make jokes. Student midwife, junior Doctor and OH just stood gaping (according to OH, I had my eyes shut throughout). OH said it was amazing to watch baby turn and that it was such a vivid experience he won't forget it, whereas my memories it are much more vague! So all in definitely worth a go, and I honestly believe I'd have felt that way if it hadn't worked, although obviously I'd have been disappointed. I think the key thing was staying calm. I found the muscle relaxant medication fine, just a little light headed/wobbly afterwards and a bit shaky, but I suspect some of that was shock and adrenaline symptoms. Bump feels very strange now, and looks different- much lower and my back is a lot less painful (I suspect because of the medication). The movements feel strange as they're in different places, which makes me paranoid he's moving back, but that's pretty rare (less than 5%). Plan now is a routine scan next Friday to double check position again, and then back to being community midwife led. Plan for this afternoon is a nap as I'm exhausted!0
