  • I BF my last baby until she was 11 months old. The plan had been initially to stop when I started weaning at 6 months but it turned out easier than I thought to carry on. I used to express (only ever by hand mind, I couldn't get on with the breast pumps) and not only did she take this from a bottle on the odd occasion I wasn't around, but I was also able to mix the breast milk with the baby rice etc when weaning time came around. Maybe I just had a really easy baby, I don't know but I wouldn't get too hung up on people trying to put you off - what ever works for you and your family at the end of the day.
Clara - those sound like really positive signs! - Get bouncing on that gym ball, I'm sure your little one will be here any time x

Sorry no news Clarabell I'm checking in every day waiting for your update haha!

Hopefully cramps are a good sign - my contractions started off like that. Discharge could also be the start of a show if you've not had that? Some people get it days or weeks in advance but I didn't get mine properly until labour was starting.

Thanks Lifestart and Cats! Don't have anything today and Cats I've not had a show as far as I'm aware. I do tend to go to the loo through the night in the dark though:rotfl: so not to wake myself up too much!

Will get on my ball soon. Only managed 20 mins or so yesterday as had a full house of visitors! My baby niece thought I was hilarious bouncing around - think she was jealous she wasn't in her jumparoo :j

Had a great weekend - what lovely weather!! Met up with a former uni housemate of mine who lives 90 min drive away and we went to her local Mum2Mum market - highly recommended! I thought we had pretty much everything we needed but still managed to grab some bargains on a few bits I hadn't thought about - £7 Dreamgenii pregnancy pillow and large good condition changing bag for £8. Was horrified at prices for both of the above brand new so really chuffed!

Annoyingly though after the superhuman immune system I've been exhibiting for the past few months I seem to have picked up a cold. So that's a bit of a pain. Sounding very hoarse and feeling a little tired. Been on strepsils plus fruit tea with honey and that seems to improve the sore throat if not the tiredness.

On the bright side, my hips / piriformis muscle seem much better today. Possibly the rest over the weekend or the new pillow? We'll see how it goes this weekend with the commuting...

First antenatal class was quite good. Not very hands on though - there was a PowerPoint and the physiotherapist lecturing most of time although we could ask questions at any point. A lot of the stuff I had already picked up from the net / OBEM but some of it was helpful: suggestion post 34 weeks to sir or stand with your torso leaning forward to encourage baby's spine forwards and also the importance of regular loo trips (every hour) during labour as full bladder or bowels can slow down baby's arrival - that was definitely new to me and one to bear in mind!

Got our first of the 4-week Birth & Beyond course tomorrow evening with the midwives - very much looking forward to that and hoping to meet some likeminded couples as well as learn some babycare basics plus further tips for birth...

clara - got my fingers crossed for you!

    Thanks snow!

I've been on my ball and had some more brownish discharge but no cramping. My sister in law has just dropped off some raspberry leaf tea so just settled down to a cup and put my swollen feet up:rotfl:

Fingers crossed clarabell! I was just chatting to a colleague and she swears by raspberry leaf tea, but says she can't bear to ever look at it again and is bringing in her leftovers for me for next month!

I'm really struggling with lower back pain, and tips? Pillow arranging last night helped and I've just blasted it with a hot shower and put some mum-to-be oil on it to see if that helps. I think I panicked OH a bit last night as whilst I was struggling with the pain he reminded me we are definitely having a may baby so think he was worried it was labour :/

    Thanks Penguin!

It was the midwife that suggested the tea. It reading up on it, it sounds like I should have started drinking it weeks ago for it to make any difference! I've just had spicy pasta for dinner and will try some more tea later :rotfl:

Thankfully I haven't really suffered back pain in bed but I've slept with my long pregnancy pillow between my legs since about 14 weeks and have only had a few nights that I've been uncomfortable. Do you sleep with a pillow between your legs/knees?

Clara I'm afraid I have no advice as I tried every old wives tale in the book and nothing worked to kick off labour but I had drunk the tea alot and my labour was quick so you never know?!

Yep, had that pillow since about Christmas. Last night I added an under bump one and also dropped my head pillows to one so I was lying flatter. Been sat on my ball this evening and that is more comfortable.

I slept with a pillow between my knees even before I was pregnant as dicky back led to restless legs.
Need to have a look at other things for the weeks ahead as I can sort of feel bump sagging sideways now in bed (and i think I'm getting the ab muscle separation :/)
