Our NHS classes were 'partner friendly', some came and some didn't - certainly no judgement for those who didn't! I don't know what their reasoning for not allowing partners in some areas would be.

I really don't know their thinking behind it either Beckyy but that is definitely how it is here. I attended a breastfeeding workshop which was separate from the classes and they weren't allowed to that either. Everyone that I have spoken to has said it's been like that for years!

Gosh that's crazy! My breastfeeding class was great as she got the partners to teach the mums how to do it. They took it very seriously as they had a task to do and means they can now do things like check latch and know how to support.

It's not a good move on their behalf stopping partners from attending IMO.

Try the Boob or Bust website/FB page for bra fitting/recommendations. I would just get a few stretchy ones which are comfy until your supply settles as you will likely change size a lot.
  • Yeah h&m seem the best I can find. Asda have some too, but I'm surprised at the lack of choice. Definitely a lot more maternity stuff about than nursing.

I've got a couple on order from Gap at the moment - will report back when they arrive. I've also been lurking on ebay a lot recently, and getting a lot of stuff secondhand... although my biggest issue is trousers, have ended up with a too big pair that I need to replace the elastic on since nothing else seems to fit :(

Blimey Snow, that's a lot of boob! I've gone from 34B to 36D so far, which is quite nice :)
  • Errr... thanks everyone, I guess ;)

It's not actually too bad as long as they go back down again afterwards as the bump puts them rather in the shade thankfully, at least in most maternity tops which are loose fitting. I have a couple of close-fitting tops though where they look huge even with bump (the clingy ones or ones that have a band / tie underneath bust). Am dreading the thought of the rest of me deflating to slim and my boobs staying huge. Would genuinely look like Barbie. My old size was good; larger than average but just womanly, not comical...!

This week's complaint is some sort of cramp / strain in my left buttock. No issue when resting but can flare up walking / getting up and down. Anyone else had this and got any tips? Baby seems to still be growing at astronomical rate - imagine combination of extra weight and loose ligaments really not the best for this...!

I get this occasionally even pre-pregnancy - if it's tight muscle, get a tennis ball of similar, put it where the pain is and lean against a wall and roll it around. It'll hurt like the devil, but it does release the muscle. Best keep it up for a couple of days if you can manage it, but don't do too much at a time - 30 seconds on each side several times a day. And don't slouch on the sofa - upright chairs and proper posture much better.

My H&M nursing vests are great. I've also got sleep nursing bras from Jojo Maman Bebe which are fab and I've just been wearing them all day and night (changing them obviously!) because they're so comfy and are just S/M/L so have fit at the end of pregnancy and still do now milk has come in. I'll be going for a proper fit at M&S next week in theory.

    Happy due date Clarabell!!

Could it be sciatica? I've had this both pre-pregnancy and again during pregnancy. Mine is aggravated by walking, particularly if I wear unsupportive shoes (things like very flat pumps). I find stretching and rest helps.
  • My mum (former GP) seemed to think it was more likely a piriformis strain and not sciatica when I briefly mentioned it yesterday. I know some piriformis stretches but stretches don't do a lot for me as I'm quite hypermobile and this has worsened in pregnancy! So it's easy to end up stretching the ligaments not the muscle! I'll try the tennis ball trick though - thanks! I also have a foam roller somewhere but I can't for the life of me remember where! Used to be in what is now the nursery on a shelf... definitely isn't there now!

Happy weekend everyone! First antenatal class for me tomorrow: "Physical Preparation for Childbirth part one"... run by the physiotherapists at the hospital. Hoping it will be useful!
