Snow you are really prepared :) we haven't got much left to get. Muslins, some flat sheets, baby monitor plus few more sleepsuits (now I think about it couple of more little bits too haha).

I'm a bit nervous for when I go on the nct course as DH isn't coming with me and I really hope everyone doesn't take their partners!!

Cats - glad you have made the first week :) a newborn thread would be good, I think up tp one year would be nice.
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Clara my ball was fab I used it from 30 weeks and am using it now postnatally as well. Just a note if you haven't ordered a specific birth one just be careful where you use it as although they do the same job birth ones are stronger and have a deflate function if they get a puncture, as opposed to gym ones which will generally just pop and could send you flying. My midwife strongly recommended a birth one. Sorry if you know all this already but maybe it will help someone else too :-)

Newthrift - sorry to hear your DH can't come. I hope you're not the only one but just to warn you at our NHS classes partners were all there and all my friends who did NCT dads came too. Not trying to worry you sorry just maybe be prepared for it being all couplesbjust in case. You'll be absolutely fine though!!!

I'll set up a newborn thread later and look forward to seeing you all on it very soon!!

Thanks cats, it is a birth ball xx

Partners weren't allowed at the NHS antenatal classes in my area - one of the main reasons I chose not to attend them!

Glad to hear all is well with baby Clara and yourself Cats. I think a thread would be good, especially for recommendations etc.

I still feel like I have loads to get  will def be getting my backside in gear this week to get some of the other stuff, and hospital bags started.

Clara here's hoping baby moves on their own, and good luck with the midwife.

Newthrift I can imagine it would be daunting going on your own, but you will be fine :)

Have ordered a gym ball to start bouncing on as s few people have told me they swear by them! Don't mind going a overdue but the thought of being induced is a nightmare for me!!
    Xx

I've had mine for months already, and am sitting on it most days. Apparently it's really good for getting the baby in position - at our hypnobirthing class, they really emphasise how important it is not to sit slouched on the sofa, as this doesn't encourage the baby to get in the right position at all. Hope baby decides to get a move on for you soon xx

(mine's a gym ball, as I need an 85cm one, but they all seem to have the slow puncture thing, as it would be just as dangerous if you were doing exercises on it and it suddenly burst!).

What? !?! How can they not be allowed?! Half the stuff we covered was about their role too...! Grrr winds me up how dad is treated so much of a second best. I know we come first but I couldn't believe how much he was sort of irrelevant when we were in the hospital.

Anyhow rant over :-) we're just off out to see grandma and aunty x

I was thinking exactly the same - shows how far we've got to go until society treats men as equal partners in parenting. But not even allowing them on the course? It's a bit old-fashioned!

Have a nice time with Aunty and Grandma!

Yeh I was told there were a block of 4 classes available and the only class the men were allowed to attend were the last class which covered complications etc

I was really disappointed in this and so was my husband!

Well my ball needs to go back as it appears to have a dodgy valve and is not even pumping up!

Midwife was fine, head is fixed and 4/5 fifth palpable (which I think means 1/5 engaged) and messing perfect she said.

Has recommended staying as active as possible, fresh pineapple, raspberry leaf tea and lots of sex!!! I have an appointment to go back in a week and will be offered a sweep if possible and a date for getting induced if nothing has happened before then!

Have a lovely day out Cats xx

I can't believe they don't allow partners at some antenatal classes, that's mad! I hate the idea of my OH being seen as the secondary parent. On the bus the other day there was a single man with an upset baby and two middle-aged women were offering advice in a really patronising way. Even after he politely said something like, 'thanks for your concern, but she's my daughter and she's fine, she's always like this when she's just woken up', they kept saying loudly 'Don't you think you should do this?' etc I really don't think they'd have done it to a mum.

Have a nice trip out Cats, glad to hear week one was a success!

Snow, you're SO super organised. In fact, everyone sounds in a good place :)

Glad you're not feeling too uncomfortable Clara, a bit of bouncing will be good all round. I use mine most days when I can't get comfy on the sofa. I think I'd quite like one at work too, my office chair is rubbish.

You know I never even realised that this was out of the norm for the classes! I just presumed that it was just what happened! Even more annoyed about it now.

Thanks Poodle I have been very lucky so far and not had too many bad symptoms. I got a back support for my chair at work from eBay for £5 and it worked like a dream from around week 14 up to week 38 (they paid for it too) couldn't have sat long office hours without it!

Midwife said today that I was still so very neat and that she couldn't even tell from behind that I was pregnant because I have such small hips lol
