Thought Id check in as I haven't been here for a while! 38+1 today and got my 38 week midwife appointment tomorrow, no signs of baby coming! I think he's moved much further down though, my pelvis is agony when I walk or stand! Here's hoping he makes an appearance soon!Debt free once - Back again | Current debt: £2479.50 - January 2025 | Make £2025 in 2025 #11 - £41/£20250

Well done on maintaining you readings MancMama4. I hope it doesn't become too restrictive and that you can still enjoy food. At least after the birth when you are feeling tired you'll be able to have a sugar fix.
Good luck Katy-Ann, you're one week ahead of me. My bump is still high but I don't think my daughter ever engaged before labour last time so I'm not particularly expecting it this time.
I had some pains on Monday night but I went to sleep and nothing became of them.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
Wow Kynthia I am so excited for you!! Hope you are managing to get some rest. Katy-ann how did you get on at the midwife? xMancMama4 (35) TTC since Apr 15, MMC Dec 15, Our Rainbow Baby Charlie arrived Dec 16 :heart2:0

Hi everyone I've not posted in here before but I am currently 27+4 days and tonight my bump keeps tightening, no pain really has anyone else had this? I did ring the midwife unit because I had three tightening 3x in 10 minutes so thought it could be Braxton hicks?I also tripped over the cat earlier and pulled my side slightly so that might be a factor just slightly worried.0

Safm, it does sound like BH. When I had them it felt like my bump went totally hard.0

Hi safm, tightenings across your bump are how I would describe my braxton hicks. I find its more across tge top of my bump and can be very uncomfortable. Whereas the pains I had tge other night were a pain that grew in intensity and then faded down in intensity while my whole bump including low down was rock hard. It felt very different. I know to go to hospital when they are so painful that I'll howl, cry, or be unable to talk at the peak.
Have people written their birth wishes (not a plan as you can't plan a labour) yet? Mine is a load of one line statements like "I don't want to give birth on my back", "I'd like a water birth", "I want a managed third stage but after delayed cord clamping" and "I don't want interventions if unecessary but I'm open to more than gas and air should I request it". Are yours the same and am I forgetting anything?Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
Oh Kynthia I don't even know where to start with a birth plan!! I'm hoping the midwife will shed more light on it at my 34 week appt... I feel so uneducated on it all!MancMama4 (35) TTC since Apr 15, MMC Dec 15, Our Rainbow Baby Charlie arrived Dec 16 :heart2:0

Remember it's just wishes rather than a plan as that way you won't be surprised if things go differently to what you expect. Are you doing any kind of antenatal class, with the NCT or at the hospital perhaps? That will give you more info on what happens in labour and help you decide what you do and don't want/prefer?Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
Hi all
7 weeks to go! eek!
I had really strong braxton hicks last night. I've had slight tightening before but this was something else! No pain but extremely uncomfortable. On and off for a few hours as well (at 4am typically) so no sleep yet again!
Manc, when you go to NCT classes it'll really help you decide what to put in your plan. I had no idea either but feeling much more educated now! As Kynthia says you can never plan 100% as things change and you never know how things are going to go but it's good to have an idea!
Mine are really similar to yours Kynthia...water birth, delayed cord clamping and minimal intervention. I was dead against any kind of induction or anything but after more research I've decided I'll decline a sweep at 40 weeks but then re-evaluate if I've not gone by 41.0 -
every day's a school day! I've just had to google delayed cord clamping as I had no idea what it was - think I'll be putting it on my list/plan too!
OH was reading through my plan the other day and started moaning about me putting 'all pain relief I can have in a birthpool' as he would prefer the birth to be drug free! I kindly told him with several profanities that when HE pushes a person out of his nether regions he can go drug free - until then, I want all pain relief on offer even if i choose not to use it!0
