I also found out that they like to induce you after 1 week past your due date now. I was always under the impression it was 2 weeks, but apparently the advice has changed - unsure if it's different in other areas though.
I still can't get into the hypnobirthing book I have. If I'm honest I think it's something I would struggle to use, despite loving the idea. I think I might benefit from some aspects of it though.
I think I'm going to look into the boots TENs machine, when I saw it online it looked a similar price to the rentals and might be handy post labour too.0 -
It does seem to vary by area Beckyy. It's 12 days where I am. But you can always refuse induction (or delay it).February wins: Theatre tickets0

I really have no idea why induction at 41 weeks is being pushed. Nice guidelines say 41 to 42 weeks and recent studies in modern medicalised countries show no increase in stillbirth rates until over 43 weeks. I find it so scary that we are all expected to 'fit' this one prescriptive model of care with little room for variation. We don't all have the same monthly cycle length, we weigh different amounts, grew at different rates etc.
As someone who is 41 weeks tomorrow, I'm fine and baby is fine so there's no way I'd be accepting at this point. I'm not sure how many other people use baby centre birth boards but mine is horrific for lengthy and difficult inductions for post dates at the moment.
Honestly, even if you can just practice breathing to some soothing music I'm sure that would help. A lot of hypnobirthing is also about understanding what's happening in your body and not being afraid of it

It definitely varies so much from area to area. My sister in law is due 21st December and has already been given dates for a sweep should she go overdue!! I've had nothing even mentioned, let alone any dates given to me!Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16

Psycho - it's the Katherine Graves one.
Beckyy - I used the boots tens machine. They do sometimes have offers so if you have time hold out for it.
I sadly found hypnobirthing did nothing for me, and I really wanted it to. But I'd like to think if is had a natural waterbirth rather than the more traumatic one I did have then at least I would have been in a calmer mindset so it may have worked.* Rainbow baby boy born 9th August 2016 *

I'm debating whether to hire a tens machine, one found somewhere that hires them for six weeks for £18.50 so I'm tempted to as a back up if I can't have a pool birth.
So tired here today (was yesterday too,), everything just feels like such an effort. I find that that most achey part of me is usually my knees then my fingers, so even just picking something up from the floor feels like a chore!! Amazon prime now came in handy today as I needed some groceries but didn't have the energy to venture to the supermarket, think that app is going to come in useful over the next few weeks!!!
Quick question- does anyone with a ewan the sheep also have a cot mobile? I'm not sure whether to get one in addition to ewan or if he will be enough.0 -

Hey, just sneaking in to say I had a cot mobile but as my baby slept in a moses basket in our room the mobile was on her big cot (didnt fit on the moses) for when she would have moved at 6months but the mobile wasn't recommended for children over 6months so it was a bit pointless. I lay her under it to entertain her sometimes after a change or feed and it made the room look nice but hadn't thought it through. The ewan the sheep is great though, she still has it with her now and I keep a little comforter ewan.0 -
I'll have to look into this sheep!
We had a successful trip to IKEA. No hassle at all today. Apart from the person not putting my hotdog in the bun properly...as I took it off the counter the sausage flew off and rolled away on the floor
We thought we were going to get Stuva stuff but got the Sudvik range instead. Preferred the look of it, also we realised in person that the Stuva changing table is terribly impractical! Because the table is fixed it is really awkward to access the drawers underneath and practically impossible to reach the shelf without doing a limbo. They might as well not be there.
So we got cot, wardrobe, changing table, mattress and a selection of other things like fitted sheets, bibs and a sleeping bag.
I got the wardrobe up and it looks really nice, fits the room. Looking forward to putting the other two bits together tomorrow.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Thank you for the feedback sweetie. We have got a space saver cot that baby will be going straight into so it would get used straight away, but I'm just unsure if it actually would get used much- someone has offered to buy us one, but I'm wondering whether to ask for a play mat instead as I've seen some for a similar price and know that will definitely get used.
Freddie- I was a unsure about ewan, but decided that people say such good things about them that I would give it a go- plus I got a £15 gift card code from an order at mamas and papas so used that so it only cost me £15 plus p and p as opposed to the £30 they usually are (although I was prepared to pay that if it helps him sleep!!)0 -
We haven't got a Ewan (though we are considering one), but we have a mobile. We use it every night as part of her bedtime routine so it has now become a sleep cue for her. Not essential though.February wins: Theatre tickets0
