Think - you can opt for oral vit k if you want. We did. It was given in 3 doses and all was fineFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0

Yes, that's what I wanted to discuss with the midwife, but I think I will opt for the jab because at least you know they have had the recommended dosage, but I would worry that if say i have a sicky baby i wouldn't be able to be sure they have kept it all down.0

I find vitamin k a really interesting subject.... The fact that ALL babies are born with such low levels indicates to me that there's probably a reason for it. I have read theories that the thinner blood helps stem cells from the cord travel around the body in the first few days following birth.
I have actually gone with the injection in my birth plan, I can't find any evidence that having vitamin k causes any detrimental effect so I'd rather it be over and done with.

Mia is a Sicky baby but she kept down each of the doses fine. They are very small doses, so not much to keep down.
We were not going to have it at all if there hadn't been any physical intervention during the birth as the research we did suggested it just wasn't necessary with a smooth birth. But the use of forceps or ventouse during delivery could create a bruise which would've put her at risk, so we wanted it in that instance.
I had it all written in my birth plan, which they followed when I was out of it, so well worth writing it down whatever you decide.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

Thanks everyone. Long first night but she's settling well into feeding and definitely into pooing! She doesn't like being naked and changed. That brings the tears.Book a week challenge: 11/52. Competitions won in 2021: 120

Thank you for the links. We have decided he will have the injection.
Currently doing my first ever wash of baby clothes/ blankets! I have a white wash and a colour wash to do. I'm going shopping shortly to get the last few bits for my hospital bag.
Was talking to oh last night as I'm still unsure about feeding. We've decided that I will try and feed him the colostrum and see how that goes with a view that if I then switch to bottles I won't feel guilty as at least I tried and hopefully give him some of the goodness he needs. Feeling better now I've decided this.0 -
Congrats Crazy! Enjoy her. Lenny hates being changed too unless he has done a poonami then he lies there silent as a mouse whilst you change him :rotfl:
Thinkpink - of all the things I packed the best thing was straws so oh could hold the cup whilst I sipped water. I couldn't have laboured, had gas and air/drugs and held the cup.* Rainbow baby boy born 9th August 2016 *
