I know someone who went from first contraction to baby here on 2.5 hours but I also know someone who was in painful labour for a couple of days. If it gets to the point where its all day and you aren't drinking or sleeping for the pain go in a insist on something no - matter how many cms you are as you need your strength. Fingers crossed you'll be quick though. X

Good luck CCL, all my advice would be pointless as it's hypnobirthing related!

    Hope things progress swiftly :)

  • Thanks you lot. Feel rough as anything. So tired already and feeling sick. Got a few paracetamol down me and a piece of toast. I don't know which pains I'm supposed to be timing, the ones at the front, back or both. Going to phone the hospital again in a second and talk to someone and see when they want me to go in. I don't know why I had the stupid idea it wouldn't hurt this much.
I'm hoping it'll be quick, but doubting it. I can stand and walk through the pains, but it isn't helping them in the slightest like I thought it would.

Do you know what position baby is in? Wonder if you are back to back as that can cause back pain.

Do you have a birthing ball? Try and lean over it, or a chair, that may relieve pressure on the back. Hot water bottle, other half pressing on the area that hurts should all help.

Try a warm bath or Google for some labour positions that might help the back pain. Do you have a ball to bounce on? It sounds silly but some people find pulling down something helps, I've seen a rope from the ceiling in one natural birthing room, so maybe tie a scarf to a door handle and pull on that. Did you do any yoga or meditation that you could use now? Just do whatever to get through the next ten minutes, and then the next ten minutes, and so on. Break it down to manageable chucks of time.

Labour is horrid, I was doing this at 3am in a cold flat as it was February and below freezing outside. Neither one of us was in a state to even think to put the heating on! It doesn't last though, it will end.

Good luck crazy cat lady. Unfortunately I can't offer any suggestions as I've not been through this before but I would say if you are finding the pain too much ring up and tell them this, they may ask you to go straight in for a check.

Good luck Crazy! tbh it was the worst pain I've ever experienced, but you do forget it! Keep moving, I wasn't allowed to cos I was induced so had to be on the bed. The back/pressure pains withstood the epidural (sorry, not giving you much hope!) because mine was back to back in the end.
