29 weeks today
can't believe how quick it's going now!! So much to do before baby comes!! Panic stations!
Your maternity bag lists all sound so short and concise, I'm panicking now as I've got a list of stuff to pack as long as my arm!!! Has anyone else got a ridiculously long list or am I just being too OTT?
I would post my list here but I might get laughed at with the amount of stuff on it!!!!Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T
Maternity leave fund: £3000/£6000 :T0 -

Post it lol! My thinking is put the essentials in one bag and you can leave the rest in the car and just get it out if you need to stay in, like extra clothing etc so nothing wrong with having it prepared.
I'm 38 weeks today according to hospital dates!0 -
I think ive got a lot too! Changing bag full to burst with babies stuff and a hand luggage size wheely case for me!
Plus as claire said ill have a bag of spare bits just in case we need to stay in longer than expected. Might leave this at home somewhere where oh can just pick it up if we need it.
its getting scary now isnt it claire! We're well into the top 10! :eek:Mini me due March 2014

I'm about to finally divide our hospital bag - currently it's all in the changing bag which is a good size but I'm going to put the bits that are for me in a handbag I have that's also a decent size. I didn't want to but it will make it easier for bf/anyone to find bits should I want something.
Faith I got the witch hazel gel from Boots, only a little over £1.50ish and I found it near the baby bottles/first aidy bits.
Bf is home from camp today and we've just realised its the last time we're apart until we become three full time :-) we're both so excited it's crazy. I was watching OBEM in the small hours and it still makes me wonder what the women were expecting when they found out they were pregnant/started labour. I'm expecting it to hurt like nothing ever before, I'm expecting to feel like my insides are all exploding at once and I'm expecting it to be the worst pain ever but totally worth it...they all seem surprised that it hurts!
Maybe its because I'm used to writhing on the floor in pain, throwing up everything I tried to eat/drink (even water) and feel like I couldn't cope with that pain in my life for a week every month since I was 14?! I was given three options at 18 by the doctor; tri-cycle the pill, have a baby or have a hysterectomy... I chose the pill with the smallest gap I could manage (5days every 3-4 months) because I have always wanted a baby.
All I need to remember is every contraction is one step closer to holding our baby and I need to relax and not panic in expectation of the nxt wave of contractions :-)
37+2 today not long now!************************************
Daughter born 26/03/14
Son born 13/02/210 -
robotsindisguise - so sorry to hear the news about your dog. Sending you hugs
fireyfirenze - hope you manage to cut down the sugar. So hard too....... I'd struggle, as it's all chocolate and cakes that I want right now :rotfl:
mysecretalias - it's good news they're recruiting a replacement, honestly. My work didn't replace me when I went off the first time around and it was hard when I went back as there was no actual work to take back and people had learned to take more work on whilst I was off, so it was hard to get them to relinquish it again and make myself useful again. So glad someone is coming in for me this time around
lara - we found the nct quite good around here when we went last time - we got a bumbo seat and tray for £9 (good job too as son hated it so would have been a waste at full price), a nappy changer box for a few quid and a cot top changer which I'm still using 2 years later. We were team yellow too so didn't see much in the way of clothes either

I know! And 7 out of the 8 ladies at my nct group have had their babies now! Which is very weird seeing these people with bumps and then suddenly there's a baby there!
Thats what Ive got too, changing bag with babies stuff in, wheelie suitcase with my stuff, and then a small changing bag with DHs stuff and snacks in, and then a tiny changing bag that I got free from Verbaudet, with extra baby stuff in if we do the hospital bounty photoshoot.lushlifesaver wrote: »

Its so hard to know isnt it.
One of my friends said it was as you described above - like her insides were being pulled apart which horrified me. But my other friend said 'Id do it again for 200 quid it wasnt that bad.'
So I honestly think that people have different labours, different levels of pain threshold and just totally different experiences! So you really wont know until it happens to you.
I kind of imagine myself to be, right Im going to have gas & air and a water birth, then after 5 minutes I will actually be screaming for an epidural even though that really scares me!
But the thing you said about each contraction being one step nearer is exactly what our nct teacher told us, and Id never thought of it like that before, and I think its really the best way to think!
I used to have horrendous period pain too, Id throw up. So I went on the pill also. Although luckily once I was on the pill my periods didnt hurt anymore.0 -
Just to jump in about coping with contractions. My yoga teacher constantly repeats 'this contraction will end' during our relaxation/breathing practices. I found last time that writing 'This contraction will end' on a piece of paper and sticking on the wall during labour and looking at is during the contraction really helped. Doesn't take any of the pain away but I felt I coped better mentally when I was getting fed up with being in pain every few minutes, I knew that soon it will end and that's one less to get through.0

has anybody had or will be having a private 4D scan? I was really against them at first, I think they look freaky and to be honest sometimes a little scary! but I do really want to see baby again before she comes, and I would like a double check that she is a girl
also my friend who had one said when they're scanning you it doesn't look as scary on the screen. I don't think I'll be showing them to anybody!
me and my boyfriend booked one yesterday for the beginning of April when I'll be 28 weeks because the place I was already looking at had a stall at the baby show and they were pretty much half price so we went for it. however after searching '28 week 4D scan pics' on google some are lovely but some are terrifying haha. bit apprehensive but my OH is really excited0 -
