Con that's my dread for my leave - spending just because I want to be out and about! I'm already starting with it and I have a couple more days at work
My back/hips have really started these past few days so you have my sympathy. I'm getting away with much less discomfort today...so far *fingers crossed*
I'm off to the in laws tonight to get my hair done (highlighted, cut, layered). Can't believe it's already three months since I had my highlights done and its over six months since I had it cut!
I couldn't do a home birth either; bf wouldn't cope well, the dog would find it difficult and I'll be far more relaxed in a medical setting...or rather where I know all of that stuff is close to hand should we need it.
My leave starts on Wednesday and all I plan to do at the minute is meet up with my journo friend, do some emails for the rugby team, bake/cook and sleep (need to learn how to nap!) hahaha...so that will keep me busy for all of ...ooh...three days maybe!
Want to start getting in to a routine of taking pup out for a walk on a morning too as I used to take the tot I nanny-ed for a while out for at least an hour a day and it was one of the best things - plus taking the dog means I can't spend anything as we don't leave him tied up anywhere or anything like that.
Got to go round and pick up some groceries/run a few errands tomorrow - just realised I wish I could get away with taking the buggy so I don't have to carry anything!************************************

Lesson For Today: NHS receptionists don't like it if you laugh
But sometimes, what else can you do?
I was told to go to reception to make an appointment to discuss how Aethelbald will make his entry into the world. When I did so, the earliest appointment she offered me was 30th May, which is quite a long time after the issue will have resolved itself (12th or 14th May, depending on how you count).
She got all huffy, said it was the first appt available, and I had to go and drag the midwife out again to sort it.
Back from my 30 week appointment at UCH, everything's great - blood pressure, heart beat, measurement is 29 (so fine) bloods, urine, all the rest of it....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
At my 28 week check the Midwife went back over having a Home Birth. She said I am an ideal candidate as I had a quick labour with my DS and with no intervention and not too much aftermath.
Her main concern is the speed I laboured the first time and that it 'may' be quicker this time.
My point is that we have two dogs, a cat, the only suitable place for a birthing pool would be our lounge and I do not want all that mess in my front room.
I can see why it is a choice for some, but I would rather be near professionals and machines if I need them.
I am quite scared this time round that the labour could be quicker but if it is it is there is not much I can do. The Midwife has said that she would like to leave a bag here (A delivery bag apparently) just in case I don't manage to get to hospital.
I am 30 weeks Sunday and I have said I do want the oppertunity to change my mind if I want to. Its my choice and maybe nearer the time I might think it is what I would like. I have plenty of time to change my mind I hope.3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

I thought I'd be spending a fortune on my mat leave, but actually I'm at the point where driving is so uncomfortable I'm barely leaving the house. I did work to 38 weeks though. I'm now 41+2 and I haven't even got dressed yet today!!!
I've found I spend a lot of time napping and cleaning. I have to do things in shifts, so earlier on I emptied and filled the dishwasher, then had a break before I dusted the lounge, then another break before I hoovered downstairs.... it's surprising how long things can take!First date 10.2.2002

Thanks for the well wishes for our dog, sadly it's not good news. She has a tumor in her bladder
we don't yet know what kind.
I had breakfast with a friend today who tried to be helpful by saying our soon to be 12yr old dog won't cope well with a baby, which may be true, then she said it'll be " 1 out, 1 in", and I managed not to cry. Probably because I'd cried so much yesterday. Please forgive the badly spelt alias... I am a long time contributor who needed to reclaim anonymity for health/job related posts.0 -
Ndg that's hilarious! Stupid woman, makes you wonder how some people even get jobs like that! Glad you got it sorted though, and what a lovely name
Robots I'm sorry to hear about your dog, that sounds very upsettingperhaps your friend was trying to lighten the mood rather than intentionally being insensitive xxx
Re the home births, I wanted a home birth but we have no way to fill up a pool as none of our taps seem to fit a hose nor any adapters, they're an odd square shape so nothing seems to fit and we dont have a bath either. My husband wants me to go to hospital as our son had shoulder dystocia last time so he thinks it would be safer, which I can see. I just hope I get to have another waterbirth this time!0 -
sorry to hear about your dog robots
had my midwife appointment today, I got to hear the heartbeat which was lovely and my sister recorded it from outside the room! so my boyfriend got to hear it later on too. she said I had a high reading for glucose in my urine so I have to be good and try and cut out all sugary stuff :-/ which I'm going to find so hard as iv got such a sweet tooth at the moment! I do eat too much chocolate so I'll try and stop.0 -
Samtoby hope you're feeling less teary today
Robots so sorry to hear about your dog that's just awful
NDG I laughed reading that, seriously some people just have no common sense do they?!
Personally for me a home birth scares the bejesus out of me, but that's just me. I'm worrying about labour as it is, and I just have this thing in my head of being away from medical intervention in case something goes wrong and for me it makes me panic. But I wish it didn't because home birth sounds like it can be a wonderful experience. Maybe for the next one!!
My first day back at work went well thanks everyone for askingmy manager was in and she is great, they panicked whilst I was off about me coming back and work stuff making me too stressed, so they've taken loads of work stuff off of me and given it to someone else in the team (looking forward to getting it in the ear from them on Monday)!! And my manager has said as I've only got 5 weeks ish left she's only letting me do tying up stuff between now and then.
So basically I've got a pretty blooming easy life between now and going off on maternity!!
Although the only downside, I was told today that they ARE recruiting someone to do my job after all, and I've got to do a job advert etc, I basically knew this would end up happening last minute right from the start and it's annoyed me as I told them to start getting approval for it 6 months ago but they've only just bothered to do it. Grr!Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

I'm the same! I do tasks interspaced with watching tv and eating! Everything takes ages!0 -
