  • I'm going to be off work for over a year - a year of maternity leave and then at least 1 month of annual leave after that. I want to go back 4 days a week using the rest of my holiday days then permanently drop a day starting the April after that - but work won't say that I can this far in advance which is unhelpful when trying to sort out who'll be looking after junior at that time! My manager asked if they could look at the one day off a week request closer to the time and maybe agree to a week or two in advance at a time - what shall I do with the baby when they decide I need to be at work that day then?! The whole thing is really annoying me especially as I was planning on leaving anyway and completely retraining and changing careers and then found out I was pregnant. Very bad timing on my part :rotfl:

Anyway!! 25 weeks today :D Making the most of the weather which is supposed to be dry all day and getting baby clothes washed :grinheart Turns out I have a LOT more than I think he'll ever get to wear but at least I won't be stressing out about running out of clean clothes come November! :p I'm on night shifts again next week so that's pretty much two weeks gone by without me doing much of anything due to either being asleep or at work so trying to get bits done as and when I can!

Haha crazy cat lady, that must look a bit odd to people walking by!! I'm keeping my car til it dies , hopefully it still has a few years left in it yet. Oh has a car through work so luckily that's one thing/ expense that we don't need to worry about. I think I'm going to make it my mission to clear y boot out this weekend, I just chuck stuff in it and it then stays in there, my boot is fairly big so pushchair etc will fit in fine as it is, but I want it do look nice and tidy in there and not surrounded by pairs of shoes etc!! Haha

    Morning all

Still no baby but have been for final sweep and I'm 1cm dilated :) so she did an aggressive sweep for me. I lost a bit of my plug yesterday and more this morning. Hopefully I'll go into labour naturally in next 25 hours. Otherwise induction is booked for 1130 tomorrow. But MW said if I get to the hospital and I'm progressing I can leave and go to the birth centre instead so a few glimmers of hope left.

I've tried to jinx myself into labour by buying tickets to see Anton Du Beke dance live tonight with my friend!! :rotfl: If things progress then her OH or SIL will have my ticket.

  • Fingers crossed for you Flutter!!!!! Hope all goes well!

DH wants a top of the range car... So it's a bit of a battlefield at the moment as we simply can't pay out more than we are now and he has no deposit so he will end up having to face reality at some point. Having got married and bought a house already this year our finances are stretched to say the least. My priory is getting our debt paid off and finances straightened out so we can relax a little more while I'm on Mat leave, I couldn't care less whether the car has heated seats or whatever... Sadly he has yet to catch up with this train of thought!!!

If anyone is passing by a matalan I recommend popping in, they have a great sale on, I got for baby:
A blue cuddle and dry robe and Flannel (it's so cute and has ears!)
A 0-3 month outfit (long sleeved top with soft stretchy dungarees with a little dog on
2 x short sleeves body suits 0-3 months
A little long sleeved t shirt with a cute picture
A pair of jeans (bigger size, but were a bargain!)
3 x 3-6 months baby grows in neutral

That cost be a grand total of £14!

I also got a navy polka dot lightweight dressing gown, not in sale but was only £8. Also got a cheap dark nightie in primark and as no where had black full briefs in my size I got some disposable ones in Wilkinson as they were only 95p for 5 so at least I have something in case things happen early! Also thick maternity pads are 95p for 10 so I got a couple of packs of them. Sitting down now for a rest as that little trip has tired me out!

Nice bargains there ThinkPink. I may pop to Matalan later as need to drop OH&kids off to football match and it's on the way back. Just a word of caution, check that the disposable briefs fit you, I bought some in my size and couldn't get one leg in!!

Oh forgot to say, they weighed me today at MW appt and I've put on exactly 21 pounds (1.5 stone) :D I'm so pleased with that. I am overweight anyway and was dreading putting on lots and having to lose it. 10lb of that must be baby () as it was 8lb3 at 38wks, plus some is fluid. I haven't tried to not put on weight necessarily. I am looking forward to joining slimming world again though in Sept to try shift some of the pre baby excess.

Oh thanks for that flutter, I will do, I've Got 14-16 and am usually a size 12- 14 so hopefully they will be ok. I want to get proper pants really but don't want to spend a lot and none of the cheaper places (matalan, primark Tesco etc had any in a size 14) so I'll look in the bigger Tesco tomorrow when I do my food shop.

Well done on the weight side of things, I dread to think how much I've put on. I've never done slimming world before but am thinking that I may do it in January as I have a bridesmaid dress to fit in in June!! I Doubt I'll start before January as I don't want to start putting pressure on myself straight away!!! I know loads of people who have done fab on it so I'm hoping it wil work for me!!

What is a normal amount to put on? I've gained just over 8kg (think that's about 18 pounds) since 12 week booking in til the other day. Looks a lot more, but not according to notes and weigh ins.
Iv'e never been thin, I was a size 12 before and am a 16-18 now. But all bump's measurements are spot on where they should be. She's on the central growth line, not under or over. So the midwife is really happy with that. I assumed that must be about right.

It's only this last month I've started eating better and haven't really felt that hungry. Stuffed my face and ate for 5 non stop til then.
I stupidly imagined the second she's born i'd drop almost a stone and be nearly back to where I was. Had it pointed out that, no. Not the case at all. One of the spare rooms was turned into a mini gym a while back... Treadmill, excercise bike, cross trainer, multi gym, weights.. Hoping to start back in there quite soon after having her, even if it's only short bursts to start with and build up again. it would be nice to start to get back into my old clothes again.

We haven't been keeping track of OH's weight gain. Bump is measuring as it should.

She looks exactly the same though, just with a big bump in front of her.

Thanks for Matalan tip off ThinkPink

I think there is a chart somewhere put there re weight gain Crazy but I wouldn't go by it or worry! I'm the same size as pre pregnancy, I'm all bump with no weight anywhere else. OH even said I look slimmer now in face than I did 3 yrs ago after seeing some pics of us when we first got together :rotfl:

No more progress other than losing more plug so looks like I'll be induced tomorrow. Fingers crossed it doesn't take days!
