I find most things in mothercare expensive, but they do sometimes have some great offers on. Our pushchair being one, plus I went to an expectant mother even and they had some good deals, which with the extra 10% off worked out good value. But at full price I agree it's expensive.

I need to start looking for curtains. We have a nice black out blind in there at the moment which will stay, but a bit of light comes through, so I need something just to block that out. Hopefully we will have a radiator in baby's room tomorrow so then I can go and order a carpet and we can then at least put all of his stuff in one room and get the rest of the house back to normality!!

Fingers still crossed for you flutter.

Hope you are having a lovely time away Freddie.

Our baby was very reluctant to show his face at the 4d scan and kept his hands up by his face all the time, but with a little bit of patience (and me jumping around the room!!) She managed to get a get a couple of his face!! We also asked her to double check he was a boy and he was very reluctant to cooperate in her checking!! We did get there in the end!!
  • We read a mixed bag of people talking about black out curtains v normal ones on different forums and advice pages. So went with only partial black out curtains. Most things I've read tend to say if you black everything out completely the baby will only ever sleep in a completely dark room and the slightest light will disturb them, so best to get them used to some light from the beginning. So hoping all those different posts were right. The ones I got block a little but not all. And if they're ok I'll order a few more pairs.

It's similar to all the advice saying don't tip toe around them. Hoover, talk, do the usual things or they'll never sleep apart from when it's perfectly quiet. Again, hoping that's right because I plan to carry on with jobs as normal when she's asleep.

So far she's a perfect sleeper at night and sleeps when I do. She's never woken me up in the night kicking or wriggling or making me uncomfortable. I sadly doubt that will keep up when she's actually here.

  • Crazy we are going to have blackout curtains but not tip toe around.... Blackout probably helps when you want them to nap during the day.

Baby wasn't playing this morning, I drank lucozade before we went but it stayed fast asleep! We heard the heartbeat and got a side view of the face but they have rebooked us for 2 weeks time so fingers crossed next time is better :)

We are collecting the cot tomorrow. Not ideal
But I'm not wasting any more time waiting in for them!

Hope you are all having a nice weekend x

It's usually very dark in our bedroom so baby will be used to sleeping in a dark room so it would make the transition to his room easier if it dark. There will be a little bit of light from the monitor I guess.

Oh that's a shame psycho bubble, hopefully baby will play ball next time. We had ourselves at 28 weeks and I heard that's about the best time for the pictures so hopefully baby will cooperate next time.

Off out for a few hours tonight, not sure ill last any longer than 2 hours as I'm so tired, despite a nice nap this afternoon. Really hope my feet will still fit in my wedges so I don't have to wear my flat sandals!!

Any sign of baby flutter? Fingers crossed for you!

I've been trying to read Sophie Fletcher's hypnobirthing book. I'm struggling to get into it though. It had great reviews online which is why I bought it. I think it might be more because it's difficult for me to actually concentrate on giving birth when it seems to far away. I'm generally one for preparing for things relatively last minute so practicing breathing techniques and mantras every day is something I find quite hard to stay motivated to do for 9ish weeks.

We did our course at 34/35 weeks but prior to that I'd been doing breathing awareness and visualisations at yoga so that probably helped. We do a bit together a few times a week but I try to do some breathing and calming thoughts every day. I've just listened to my positive birth statements while laying over my ball.

I don't think you need to do every day, or loads each time. Just find the bits you find most comfortable and do those until a bit later on maybe?

Nope nothing! Had a few twinges yesterday and some period pain but it went after a couple of hours. I have home visit from MW at some time today to have my first sweep so will see what happens from that. But something is telling me that this time next week I'll be going into hospital to be induced :(

Is it a downstairs extension Freddie? We've now had our loft conversion planning application approved so are waiting on structural engineer quote for steel calculations and building regs.

We had our garage converted and knocked through to kitchen to make a kitchen diner. Now we're having a 4x3 extension on the back of the house - like a conservatory - but it's being done with a tiled roof and insulated walls to building regulations so that we can use it ŵithout costing a fortune to heat in winter!

It was meant to have been finished 2 weeks ago but we had major delay due to issues with the foundations. Sorted now, they should be working on it this week while we're away - which I'm mixed feelings about.

It's good for OH as she doesn't like being around with work going on. But I like to keep an eye on them! Our parents have offered to check on them though each day as they live locally.

They're mostly good but there has been the odd occasion where they've done something in quite a stupid way and if I hadn't caught them early it could have been a right mess to have to fix.

For instance they did a concrete floor - which is fine - but they did it on the hottest day of the year - so it dried too fast and cracked. They also failed to smooth it properly - it's covered in bumps and sharp ridges, you certainly couldn't lay flooring on it as it is. So now they'll have to chip it all off and level it.

If they'd just spent 20 minutes smoothing it properly with a float it would have been so much easier (and a lot less messy)

The garden looks like a war zone!

Anyway this is why we're away so I'm not thinking about it - supposed to be anyway! Easier said than done

We got a blackout roller and a blackout curtain - just so we've got the option of making it as dark as possible in there - the sun sets on that side of the house so there's a lot if light streaming in on a spring/summer evening.
