I finished work on Friday 20th May and took the following week as a holiday starting Maternity Leave on 30th May (due date 9th June) baby came early on 29th May meaning my maternity leave basically started the day baby was born! I was looking forward to a few weeks of relaxation and no work before baby comes... :rotfl:

Toots that is probably what will happen to me... I'm an impatient person, so it'll probably be early :)

I left work - you only get 60 days maternity leave were I live and I don't trust any nanny here after seeing the abuse some children go through - I just couldn't do it.

Very luck in that hubby has a well paid job and we can still afford to save a bit as we moved to a smaller place and have less outgoings now

I've asked to take annual leave from 37 weeks - due date, then start my maternity leave on my due date for 9 months (assuming baby doesn't arrive early and my mat leave doesn't then kick in earlier). I've got a few shorter weeks leading up to 37 so I'm hoping I'll be able to manage fine, I don't want to have to leave any earlier really.

If it hadn't worked out so well with my leave I would have tried to work a few more weeks but it's worked out perfectly. It's probably just as well anyway as I'm really not sure how much longer I can drive for!! I have four weeks left at work, and only one of those is a full week as I had a few days leave left to use so rather than finishing even earlier decided to use them over a few weeks to help me get through the last few weeks!!

I leave on the 20th at 36+4 but using annual leave to take me to my due date of 13th August. I also used some annual leave to work reduced days per week so I'm on 3 days thus week and next week which helps.

I'm going back in April and think hubby will take shared parental leave with whatever I have left of the 39 weeks. I'm the main earner so we can't really afford any longer than that. :(

My job for Saturday is to finish my bags, my birth pool liner is now here and we have second hypnobirthing class Sunday.

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

    Morning all

Hypnobirthing was interesting last night. It was 3 hours long, and really could have been just 2 hours long! The lady was very passionate, she gave us the whole history and explained why it works but we didn't really learn any techniques other than a bit of breathing at the end. She did say there is more in the 2nd session though. She did show us 2 birth videos which were amazing, they made me cry (I have avoided watching any birth videos so far!).

I am feeling quite vulnerable at the moment, not sure in myself or of how OH feels about the impending arrival. OH keeps saying everything will be fine but he has done this twice before, I haven't. I presume it is normal hormonal reasons why I'm feeling like this...

Acupuncture was good too, she explained the process and how it helps ripen the cervex etc. She also treated my carpel tunnel in hands and they feel better today.

I'm having a lazy day today after two busy days. I MUST pack my hospital bags today!! But other than that I have no plans.

Hope you are all well x

It's interesting to hear about the hypnobirthing, thank you for posting! I've started reading a hypnobirthing book, I'm hoping it will be something I can actually put to use.

No probs, I'll let you know how the second class goes next week too. I'm interested in it because I get really anxious when I am not in control of a situation so want to use it to help that. I need to buy a book today, two people have offered to lend me theirs but keep forgetting to.

A close friend has just let me know that she is having a wedding party the 2nd week of October, they got married in May abroad. Baby is invited, along with OH's other two kids, it will be in Croydon so 3 hours away from us. Baby will be 2 months old, am I mental for considering it?! We would book hotel for the night. I'd like to go and take baby as I don't see this friend very often so want her to meet the baby.

Hello everyone. Hope you're all doing well.

Feels like ages since I've posted. Been a bit out of it with everything going on.

Good news is our new converted garage dining room is up and running. We've actually eaten in it!

Builders are carrying on with the extension finally after 10 day gap. We've still just got a giant hole in the garden.

On Wednesday I got a text from builder saying they wouldn't be able to come again! OH getting really stressed with it. So I spent 6 hours shovelling tons of rubble and breaking up rocks to make it look like they had been, just to stop her getting stressed.

I'm usually terrible at fibbing but was for a good cause. Keeping her calm! Had hard time explaining why I was sun burnt and how I'd ended up with a giant bruise on my foot (I smashed it with a hammer - mistaking it for a rock)

Spent 6 hours doing that - back breaking - and also had to then rush around tidying, cleaning, food shopping, buying kitchen worktop and putting up curtain pole - or else she'd have thought I'd been sat on my bum all day!

Anyway they're back and getting on today, so I can rest a bit and recover!

Had midwife appointment, all fine, bump measuring correctly. The midwife we've seen last two times is a bit tricky to talk to though. Sort of person where it feels very awkward and that it's very easy to accidentally say something wrong. Not enjoying our visits very much!

Got email today to say that travel system has been dispatched - exciting!
