Just a quick note, I've been repeatedly told that sensor mats don't work properly in Co sleeping crib like the snuzpod as it's too close and the pad could pick up your movements instead.

I'm still undecided on monitor at the moment, for her first few months I can't see her going up to bed without us anyway?

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

  • Went to Mum's for the afternoon. My sister had brought me a "few" baby bits that she had stored in the attic. 6 huge black bags full of baby clothes for between 0-3 and 3-6 months. Everything is basically brand new. Had loads already, but don't need to buy any others at all now. Plus toys and books, cot bedding... She's also got the musical rocking caterpillar (rocking horse kind of thing) up in the attic that I was going to buy, so digging that out for me.
I know it's stupidly early to think about books but I want to be reading to her early on and I want her to enjoy books and grow up into a little book worm like us. So far she's got over 200 books! Didn't realise it had mounted up so much. it's so easy to add a few more to the pile and not realise how many are there. Going to have to order a bigger book case. Asked parent friends for suggestions, and got more than I imagined I would, now have most of them, plus all the classics and a few I loved when I was little. Husband is doing the same but with blu Rays, so we will have a good stash for films for her so we can have film nights when she's a bit bigger.

I've gone for the angelcare ac401. It only worked £47 rathen than £75 as I had £28 worth of clubcard points, this is the one I had decided on a little while ago but then started to wonder if that was the one I wanted, but I've decided it is.

That's pretty much all the essential items we need, there are bits we will get probably once he us here but that's everything for now (apart from potentially feeding stuff!)

We used clubcard-boost for ours too ThinkPink, it works out nicely for some things!

crazycatlady, it's amazing how many clothes you can end up with from gifts, relatives and bundles! I've bought a few bundles locally and we've been given a few others things and there is very little we actually need to buy, if anything, clothing wise now.

I've been looking at books too. I think I'm going to try the library for most of baby's books once he's here, we have a few and I'm sure we'll get some more but they seem so expensive (in comparison to word count :rotfl:) if you buy them new.
  • There are some good sites that you can get great deals on books when the sales are on, I completely forget the name of who wrote the gruffalo, but there was an 18 book bundle by her for £5. Julia something I think, Davidson, Donaldson..
The works are pretty good too. Lots of books for £1 each for the more flimsy books and 3 for £5 on thicker books or chunky cardboard books.

I wanted to ask people who wanted to buy her bigger items or spend a bit more to get vouchers or put money into savings for her. I know it's a bit cheeky, but It's a lot more useful than buying more clothes that we don't need. But people like work friends and more distant friends and relatives tend to buy smaller things and that is usually clothes. So we've now got over 50 sleep suits for 0-3 months! And about the same in 3-6. In a way it's great because I don't need to be worrying about washing them all the time, but it's a waste at the same time because she just doesn't need that many.

Thanks Skint! Had pains etc last night and a few this morning (they woke me up), but then they disappeared and I just get the odd one now.

Sweep is at 2 tomorrow. Fingers crossed it works. Or they say something magical like 'oh, you're already 4cm and oops, there goes your waters!'. Haha. A girl can dream!

Keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you too! Xx

Skint and Euro - good luck for sweeps x

I think I had about 90 mins sleep last night :(. Kept feeling like I was going to be sick but wasn't. Bit of a bad belly in the evening and I started getting fanny daggers for first time too. I'm 36wks tomorrow so a bit early for anything to start.

I've dragged myself into work because it's my last week, I finish on Weds :D. If I'd taken today off I wouldn't have bothered with the other days, and I have leaving lunches on both Tues and Weds so feel I should turn up lol :rotfl:. I don't actually have to do anything in work so can just mope at my desk.

Meant to spend time on weekend sorting nursery out and packing hospital bags but didn't get round to it due to it raining and having to put the washing on airer in nursery room. I did start a cross stitch sampler for the baby though (priorities eh?! :rotfl:), not done cross stitch since I was a kid but am enjoying it.
