Yeah, I'm aware of all the different options etc and we've already discussed and made an agreement about vitamin k - we want the liquid drops, not the injection and only if there is some kind of birth trauma (use of forceps, ventouse, C-section etc).
I want delayed cord clamping too, and skin to skin straight away (regardless of whether it's C-section or not), I want DH to cut the cord and I do want to breastfeed etc. This is all where possible, of course.
Oh, and I need to make a note that anyone who tries to rub my back (or head, or arm, whatever) in a comforting way is likely to be batted away with some shouty swear words. I HATE that! DH is aware (and has been on the receiving end when I've been ill/in pain before), but they won't be.
I prefer them to tell it to me straight as well, rather than p*ssy-footing around trying to be all sensitive. I'll just get irritated and be like 'get to the point!'. lol I'm not very patient in such situations.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

Both of these points :rotfl: Poor DH, the one time he got up with me in the night when I was ill at the start of the pregnancy, he tried to comfort me and just got me swearing at him and pushing him away with my head down the loo! Haha! The ONLY time I appreciated him being there was when I pegged it out of the room, having just eaten my breakfast, but had to divert to the kitchen sink as I ran out of time and he very kindly held my hair back (which I was reluctant to do myself as I'd already vomited all over my hands in an attempt to save the carpet in the living room!). Bless him.
Midwife at antenatal class said that was the kind of thing you should include, as they won't know otherwise. She also said they're pretty thick skinned and won't be offended, but prefer to know up front lolFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0 -
I'll bear that in mind
Bless them really... DH was in floods of tears watching OBEM last weekend, he is going to be a sodden mess when our time comes, useless to anyone!

Well it just turns out I have a lazy baby this week who isn't up for moving. She's still very quiet this morning. Was on the CTG for about an hour and she seemed settled in there. I have to go back to hospital tomorrow for a growth scan and then they will decide next course of action. If she remains quiet today they said to go back in this afternoon though.
CTG did say I was having constant Braxton Hicks for the full hour but I can't feel anything. Also she's started to engage :T I'm 4/5th engaged so only just.
My birth plan is more of "go with the flow" and the only thing I'm really adamant about is skin to skin after she is here. Also if I'm sick during labour I will go into panic attack (massive phobia) so will need calmed down about that but midwife shouldn't worry too much about it, it's just my mental brain! :rotfl:
38 weeks today!0 -
Good advice from pigpen about the birth plan there. I looked at delayed cord clamping in c-section but everything i read suggests it isnt an option.I'd love baby to be on my chest if I have ELCS but last time she was just held by my face, not sure why? Can't remember if my arms were otherwise engaged!
Toots - I threw up twice in labour and am usually a panicker. I did not give a single care either time and just shrugged it off as part and parcel of the joys of delivery. You'll be fine and probably won't be sick, no one else I know was sick! Hope your scan goes well tomorrow, I've got one too for growth.0 -
I cant do skin-to-skin.. because then I'd need a shower and I cant use ours.. and I am home asap.
I need a list of demands written to give to the consultant though.. I want 'after delivery' drugs before hand because I'm not waiting for them, I want my own room or I'm coming home as soon as my feet work, I want this huge hernia fixing, again.. they did it they owe me that much! .. and I am still undecided on the hysterectomy thing.. but it will be mentioned.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Pretty much same as mine Toots! I really need to do a bit more research but I just want us both to be healthy however it occurs.
Bought some lovely fabric today to recover an old ottoman I inherited from my grandma, it will become a toy box for the nursery. This is the fabric http://www.dunelm.com/product/jungle-boogie-fabric-1000055970* Rainbow baby boy born 9th August 2016 *

.
One arm is usually taken up with drips and monitors.. but the second arm is usually free.. maybe they think you cant hold a baby with one arm.
Delayed clamping is possible with a section but they just like to get it over and done with quick to free up theatre and becaue they use a spinal which cannot be topped up unlike an epidural... I had both in situ though which is always a possibility..
