I'm taking my KIT days in one big chunk, I think the way we're going to work it is this:

My paid maternity leave ends on Boxing Day, so I am planning to use a week of holidays (or do one KIT day on the 27th for the double time... ;) ) and start two weeks of KIT in the new year (as all my babysitters will have their holidays refreshed then too!) and follow that with the rest of my holiday allowance as mine run April - March.

They're definitely worth using, my friend is able to take 12 months off as the money from her 10 KIT days equals three months of SMP. I'd be able to have two months off unpaid with mine but I think we're going to bank the money instead.

    They've been....okay...

MIL refers to them as "our twins" and actually used the phrase "when WE had the twins..". She flat out refuses to change a nappy but totally hogs the babies when she visits. Luckily she accepts that she knows nothing about raising twins so I've had no unwanted advice! :rotfl::rotfl:

FIL is wonderful with them, he is so smitten with them, but as he enables MIL he does irritate me.

    Morning all,

I'm struggling a bit emotionally today. It was a year today that I had my first positive pregnancy test, but then miscarried 9 days later :(. Cried for 20mins this morning to a worried OH (who didn't realise the date, I hadn't expected him to though!), before I could manage to say why I was upset.

I'm so grateful for the fact that I am now pregnant again, with a hopefully healthy baby but the past year was horrendous with the miscarriage and subsequent emotions, then TTC again, the constant worry I've had about this pregnancy after the last (I've not been able to enjoy it at all), plus losing my nan, great aunt and beloved cat, and OH's ex has been a handful last few months too.

Luckily I'm in the office alone today so can have a cry without freaking people out :rotfl:.

After today we are both off work for 10 days (coincidence that it times with the anniversary of my mc). We have some nice things planned so need to focus on that.

    Sorry for the moan x

    Oh flutter - big hugs.

Although not quite the same, I do understand how you are feeling to a certain extent.

Monday will be the 2nd anniversary that we lost our second pregnancy and I've got a scan and consultant appt on that date. Also, my due date with this baby is on the same date I had to have the ERPC last year for the last baby we lost. Three weeks later, we lost my Dad too.

Sometimes, it feels like absolutely everything hits you in one go - all the worst luck in the world is trying to destroy you but try to remain positive, remember the little one you lost in the way you and your OH would like to and spend time together as it's precious.

Something I strongly believe in is the following:

"Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present"

    Big hugs

Oh dear Lulu.... I'm sometimes glad my in-laws live 500 miles away. They are meant to be visiting next weekend yet we currently have no idea whether they are actually coming, driving, flying, how long for etc!

Thanks for mentioning the KIT days... I have just emailed HR to ask whether my company offer childcare vouchers or KIT days as I have no idea!

((hugs)) for flutter.. you've had a pretty traumatic year it is bound to take its toll.. next year will be easier, the firsts are always hardest!

I need OH to ring to see if his mother is still descending half term week (31st-2nd) but it took the best part of 2 weeks to get him to ring his dad so I'm not holding out much hope.. no good nagging him now she will be out. I hate not being able to plan anything!

Ringing to pay a chunk off the pushchair later.. and hopefully get the rest paid next week... stuff is shifting on ebay again.. £45 on one item.. so I can get my cat to the vet :) he is there this afternoon.

My feet are still large this morning and I have a school run to do at lunch.. a surprise one.. OH has an appointment and won't be back. I couldnt even get shoes on yesterday so this might be interesting!

  • Huge hugs flutter- sounds like you have had a rubbish year, it would have been a struggle anyway today but these hormones don't help at all. Take it easy and if you need to cry then just cry and let it out.

Had my 36 week appt yesterday (well actually 36&1 but who's counting!!) Baby is still head down with his bum still sticking out under the ribs on my right side. I thought my bump had dropped a bit yesterday but this morning it seems to be high again. I had to see a different mw yesterday as mine was on leave, she measured him at the 95th centile I nearly had a heart attack (he was on the 90th last time) she did explain that all mw's measure differently which made me feel a bit better (just a bit). She said to make my next appointment for 2nd June and then added "if baby isn't here by then" at that point it hit me, our baby will be here soon arghhhh.
