    Dammit. That's shattered my illusions!

I've made the decision to drive to and from work for these last two weeks. I did the walk fine this morning, but by this afternoon I was waddling around, wincing, like I had a bowling ball between my legs! Lol so I don't fancy that walk anymore. Plus, I'm freaking shattered each day now. Come home feeling starving and then just stare at the food in the fridge, willing it to cook itself! Lol it never does!

Looks like I got a useless one. Never done anything like that. No. Won't arrange appointments for me, hasn't discussed anything with me really, apart from to say that Ramsbottom has a good ante natal class. No detail, just that most people go there. I contacted my GP for the whooping cough, flu jab and a few other things.
    Bum :(

That sucks :( I wonder if there is someone you could complain to, or if you can request someone else?

She's supposed to give you info on the NHS antenatal class, how to book it etc and then check that you've booked something in (NHS or private).

Whooping cough vaccine I had to book with the nurse myself, and I imagine flu jab would've been the same (I opted out of that one).

Your maternity book is basically like a checklist of things they are supposed to go through with you. I know there are some regional differences but it sounds like she's missing the bare minimum even!

    Hugs xx

Crazy - all my bloods have to be done at the hospital. Maybe they just have different rules in different places?

    Huge congrats lemon, lovely news

    Hope everyone is doing ok

  • money- yeah we are allowed 10 KIT days in total and get paid £100 a day for them so I will def be doing them, I will just go in catch up with everyone and check emails (no doubt I will have like a 50 already and I have only been off a few days!) Definitely check yours and see if you get paid, you don't want to miss out on them.

Crazy The MW at the hospital did do my bloods at 28 weeks but I had to arrange my own whooping cough and flu jab through my nurse at the gp surgery, luckily I remembered.

Off to buy some black out curtains for our bedroom now, we have some for the nursery but as he will be in our room for 6 months we desperately need some, the sun woke me up shining through at 6 this morning. Plus we have been talking about getting them for the past 7 years since we work nights so it is a must!!!

I just spent the best part of 45 minutes trying to get the hospital to understand that my life comprises of various hospital appointments and school runs so I do not have the luxury of being at their beck and call and again reminded them mornings are really difficult.. and cancelled the MW appointment tomorrow... some things take priority such as my sons diabetes appointment which is 4 months overdue! .. then the drama because I refuse to see a minion I will only see the consultant .. honestly, you'd think I wanted the earth.. the minions cannot authorise any procedure or agree to anything so it is useless me seeing them, waste of their and my time.. I want them to do the reconstructive surgery at the same time as they hack out the baby.. and I have a flesh issue I want sorting at the same time etc.. I am seriously considering requesting a hysterectomy at the same time.. but that is a secret so shush!! If they leave it in I will end up with another because contraception is useless for me. I have thought about this for more than 5 minutes.

However, the consultant won't like me because I will have the bloods done but I am not taking urine samples or being poked or anything else.. it is way too uncomfortable and trying to get in and out of my own bed requires help so I am not mountaineering anywhere... it's head down and enormous.. that is all they need to know. I can feel my BP rising already lol..

I have my major stroppy head on... I'll be better soon.. I did have to ring council tax loons and tax credits crazy people to deal with their unreasonable demands after the hospital so am justified in being stroppy ... cheeky beasts claiming they don't have the information I sent them several times already... I just want my letter with council tax reduction so I can take the cat to the vet.. I'm not being totally unreasonable for once!

:rotfl: me too! Annoyingly I get home up to an hour before OH so it's quite late when we get round to having dinner so I need a post work snack but toast or cereal is my current limit!

Euro - I have no idea how you have been walking to work. Hats off to you! I get shattered just walking into work from the car park (though this is a half mile walk).

Crazy - All bloods here are done at hospital in antenatal clinic (I'm in Wales). Flu/whooping cough done at GP, though MW did tell me to make the appointments.

I agree with what you say about some of that pigpen, they suggested seeing a VBAC midwife at the hospital at 37 weeks to see if my cervix is favourable for a VBAC. I saw her last time and wasn't very keen on some of her ideas. I asked my own midwife if I could see her instead in the community as I have an appointment with her that week anyway. She agreed until she heard who the original appointment is with and advised me to keep to the original plan. Reading between the lines, VBAC midwife is a bit of a dragon who must be obeyed ! Waste of my time, her time and an appointment! As is stands I probably won't need it anyway as I will probably elect for a c-section but I do sympathise with you!

I am feeling exhausted today. Went to the supermarket and I am wiped out. Feel ill off the iron tablets and threw up this morning. Compared to Monday when I felt amazing, I'm not sure what happened!!

just what to be in a 'caring' profession.. that in itself would mean i wouldnt go..

and how does one decide if a closed/nowhere near labour cervix will function as it should once labour starts.. what an utterly bizarre thought.. Ideally a cervix should not show signs of opening until labour is imminent.. someties in subsequent pregnancies it does open slightly but that is normal regardless of previous deliveries..

In my experience, once you have had one section they like to do more and will go out of their way to persuade you to give in with scary stories and unsubstantiated 'facts' and 'figures' .. then they wonder why my faith in their professionalism and competence is so non-existent.

It's a 1.2 mile walk, each way, to my office. I quite enjoy walking (when not in pain lol) and I think it was helping to keep my weight gain under control. Still, it's now too uncomfortable. Almost 36 weeks isn't bad going really, so I'm pleased with that.

We have KIT days too - 10. They are paid at my normal daily rate :) I can even use them for training or staff away days (basically a jolly) :)

    So, totally worth it xx
