I can't remember who it was that said you get achy arms when you have your whooping cough vaccine where totally right. Had mine this morning and wow does my arm hurt. I think sleeping tonight is going to be interesting as I tend to have to keep switching sides because I seem to be constantly uncomfortable.

I was also wondering what size nappies people where buying and how many? I don't know whether to just stick to size one or buy a pack of size two as well. Whether to only have 1 pack or think about buying 2 or 3??? Decisions decisions xxx

Carp I still havent booked mine god I keep forgetting! Must do it tomorrow. I think its because I got a letter about the flu jab, but no one has ever mentioned the whooping cough one to me.
Yeah the whooping cough vaccine really killed my arm for the couple of days after it.

We've bought two packs of newborn sized nappies and then got a few free ones. It's not far from us to a number of shops so we figured we'd start with what we have now and then buy more after the first couple of days or so.

MIL always has nappies in for neice and her dogs and lives two mins away if we are ever caught short but I will probably just buy a box and see how we get on once me need some more

Same here, we bought a pack of size 1 from boots to get the free changing bag, then bought a pack from Aldi as really cheap, and then another small pack of pampers as was on sale in Sainsburys and then have about another 12 from Emmas diary and Bounty packs, mix of Aldi and Boots. All size one as I think that is 4-11lbs so Im going to see what brand we get on with first before buying anymore.

Same with wipes, Ive got quite a lot of free ones from the packs, so not going to buy anymore until we see what is ok (although that glitch is tempting at that price I guess if the baby was allergic you could sell them!) as I think you use cotton while for quite a while at first, will just have some wipes for going out.

msa - how does the glitch work???

From what I can gather, it's something to do with the fact that the wipes at the moment are on offer for 99p a pack instead of £2.59, but also boots are having their baby event so all baby stuff (including the aforementioned wipes) are 3 for 2. But when they scan them in the system seems to do the calculating on both offers wrong.

That's all I know! It certainly worked for us! We are going to go to another boots tomorrow night to try and get more!

At the worst if it doesn't work, you'll get 3 packs for £1.98 which is still a blooming good deal.

  • I can't really say about nappies - we went rather mad. We decided the baby will like pampers (big risk lol) and have bulk brought whenever we've seen them on offer.

We have 1 box of 1's, two boxes of 2's, and then about 25 boxes of 3's, 4's and 5's.........and are planning to buy more 1's and 2's......

If the baby does agree with pampers it means we probably won't have to buy nappies for the first year.....

Good evening ladies. I was in Boots earlier and picked up a few bits, but didn't look at wipes :( I got a steriliser, pack of pretty babygrows and lamaze wrist and ankle rattles-on the 3 for 2 I ended up getting the toy for nothing. I also had words with Mothercare as they cancelled an order I had made online, but that's all sorted now.
My little lady has been a bit of a toerag today, I got a couple of really sharp pains down my right side and arm this morning, and I could feel her moving around, so I think she caught a nerve or something. She has also been very "grindy" rather than wriggling/kicking today-she seems to move very deliberately now if that makes sense? Anyway, she has been very active and it has been very distracting while I was at work!

Morning everyone, I'm just up and killing time til my scan at 2 to see if this baby is breech , was feeling about last night and I'm now sure it is but have probably just got the idea in my head now.

Those of you who had planned sections, how long were you in hospital and when were you able to walk around etc ?

I'm feeling a little sorry for myself that it's my dad's 50th birthday party on my due date and I might not make it !! I know I may not have anyways if I deliver naturally as could have baby that day or before and still be in hospital but seems with a section they take you in earlier than due date by a few days am I right ?

Will update more later, I'm really put off the ECV after reading up on it but I'll see what hospital say first

At my hospital they said expect to stay in 5 days after a section but in practise many women go home after 3. They said it's better to manage their expectations that way though. The 3 people I've known in the past 2 weeks have spent 3-4 days in there.

Hope the baby has turned! I don't think I'd want an ecv either x

Con - hope you are managing to fill your morning and trying to take mind off things. Hopefully baby will have turned. I have a scan tomorrow now as mw is unsure if baby is fully engaged or breech with feet up against its body (38+3) am scared if honest so know how you feel. Was awake for a few hours last night as had this feeling about it being breech. Fingers crossed for you.
