Vicky, for really dry skin, try oilatum. It's both a bath stuff and you can use it in the shower, too. Be careful, though, it makes the bath really slippery!

Random question - does anyone know if stretchmark oil prevents stretchmarks as well as reducing the ones that are already there?

I've managed to get away without any stretchmarks so far, but the stretchmark cream has run out now so I only have the nspa stretchmark oil and another bottle of oil left now.

Was going to get OH to use this on me instead, but I didn't know if it works to prevent? Trying desperately to stay as a non stretchmarked belly lol

Like Claire I'm pretty sure whether or not you actually get them is down to the luck of the draw. I just love the extra excuse for a little bit of pampering and feel like I'm indulging myself in a bit of pregnancy me time using them I think the idea is that they are supposed to keep the skin supple and in turn that *should* lower your chances of getting tiger stripes a little and it's more stretchy.

Forgot to say yesterday that I think here you only get a 2cm leeway on your bump measurements as I was a teeny bit over 2cm small yesterday (measuring 34 at 36+4) and the student was asking the midwife if she needed to check again, did she (mw) want to double check and would that be OK to which mw replied it's OK as she's sure bubs is just long but rather lean and if I measure small next time then she might consider checking.

Funny as I think my bump is huuuuge and I know how much weight I've put on and its far too much to be measuring small! That said plenty of it is on my boobs, bum and hips!

Three more working days this week (incl today) and two next week then that's me done at work! I have a one-to-one today as they are introducing targets etc over the next few months and I have to do a self assessment thing for it should be interesting.

Will spend the rest of the day tweeking the weekly tasks lists I've written for my part time cover whilst I'm off then its off to late night training tonight. Made bf pack for his camp (starts tomorrow) last night so when he's in the shower tonight I can just swap the training vests and bottle over so he's ready to go

Oh ladies you've totally burst my blissful ignorance bubble about stretchmark creams/oils now!!!

I won't tell OH - he's the one who lovingly gives my belly/boobs/sides a massage every day with the cream

I think we will just keep using the oil and hope for the best

To be honest I also got all my creams and oils free without paying for any, 2 were presents and 2 were free from simply contacting the company and asking for some (I'm cheeky like that ) so I don't feel so bad about using them. Hehe.

Lush that's exciting that you've only got a few more days at work!! I go back to work on Friday, I've lost track now of how many days I've got left but I don't think it's many (somewhere around 30 maybe) can't believe it!

I'm just wanting to get into our new house now, solicitor should be tying up any loose ends this week so I'm really hoping we get a letter this week asking us to contact and let them know what formal exchange date we would prefer. We are going to hopefully go for the 1st April if it's possible. I can't wait to just be in and start nesting now and organising all the baby stuff!! We've lived at OHs parents for a year this month and it's been more than long enough for me.....lol

I have a few stretch marks but these have reappeared from when I had DS. I do believe no amount of cream will prevent them, it just might make them lighter. Mine were really red and purple and now they are silvery but I am sure that they will go red again as I get bigger.

Someone wrote about using Evening Primrose Oil for preparing for labour - what is this for?

I know Emz hasn't had the baby yet but I wonder how smlsave is getting on? Been quiet for a few days and I remember her saying she thought she might have had contractions!!! Fingers crossed for some more announcements soon!! Just trying to bump myself up to no 1!!! X

Hello to the newcomers, though slightly unnerved to see myself moving up the list so fast!

I am covered in stretchmarks already despite only putting on 2lb, but resigned to it as it was the same with DD1. They faded to near invisible within a year of her birth, so I'm going to keep up the BioOil and hope for the best - I think if you're going to get them, you will no matter what.

I had my first growth scan and consultant review yesterday, pleased to say that despite my nerves, high BP and hyperemesis, little lady is doing absolutely fine. Her head circumference is spot on, femur length is a little under average but fine, and she has a nice round tummy apparently As my dad says, clearly takes after our side of the family! Estimated weight is 2lb13 at the moment. She was very active, head down with one foot bashing herself on the nose, giving us a good view to confirm she definitely looks like a little girl

Consultant was lovely and explained everything clearly. Because I had pre-eclampsia with DD and already have high BP this time, they'll induce on my due date if they haven't had to before then, so I won't go overdue. The plan is to get to 37 weeks, then if I show any signs of pre-eclampsia after that point induce straight away. I didn't get it until 38+6 with DD, so hoping to get at least that far, but he thinks the odds of getting it again this time are markedly increased - he said he would think it more likely I do than don't. Feeling positive though, as little one is growing well and as long as I can get to full term there's no reason to worry too much.
