My parents have been around today helping us with some DIY jobs. In fact they are currently coming around most Sundays to help us get the house ready for little one arriving. We have now painted the cupboard under the stairs ready for putting shelving in to turn it into a pantry (a godsend because of our teeny tiny kitchen and lack of storage) and we have put a new curtain pole and some book ledges in the nursery. Slowly but surely we are getting there. I can't help wondering whether we will ever reach the point where we are ready for her to come. I can't be the only one that seems to have a to do list as long as their arm of jobs that seem to need to be done before baby arrives??? lol. I wonder how we have lived here for two years without these jobs being done!! xx0

Just had our 1 day hospital ante natel class. It was good and good to ask questions specific to the hospital but really glad we've done nct as I don't think I'd feel half as prepared as clearly they can't cover everything in massive detail. The midwife was very friendly though and very encouraging of each woman being in charge of her own ideas/needs.
Bit disappointed though as the MLU only has 4 rooms and the delivery suite has 10 and I really want a water birth in the MLU if everything goes ok, but she said the 4 rooms can be quite busy so feel like that might not happen now. They have a pool on the delivery suite but again only the 1. She said there is a new home birth team of midwives purely dedicated to home births starting in a couple of weeks, so you could do that & rent a pool but I don't feel safe being at home.0 -
Claire there's only 1 pool at our hospital too although they keep telling us how under used it is. But will be typical that it's occupied on the day I want it!!
Does anyone know what a health visitor does. I've got a visit on weds (38+5) but not sure what for... Is it to spy on me and check I'm not a crack addict? I've already had a home visit from the midwife and from te breastfeeding support nurse so this seems a bit over kill. Unless it's just to meet them before baby gets here so I know what to expect afterwards!!
I'm just suspicious by nature!!!0 -
Such a task trying to decide what pram to buy
Originally chose the Bugaboo Bee but saw the icandy strawberry and like that too.
Anyone have experience of either one? x0 -
We have our HV home visit on Tuesday, I asked the midwife and apparently its becoming standard just to introduce themselves to you before you have a newborn in tow distracting you...we have the midwife at the house at 2 and the HV at 3 on the same day. The MWCHA has already been to visit too :-)
Should be interesting seeing as our house is fully accessibly but we've purposely undone some of the alterations as they made life harder for bf not easier!************************************

Chelsea we went for the uppababy vista, with the maxi cosi pebble car seat and isofix base.
I had a major panicky dream last night that we hadn't got the pram or anything yet and I had it in my head that the last time we went into the shop they said it would be 6weeks from ordering to getting it (by which time I would be 34 weeks, argh!!) so we went with OHs parents this morning to order the pram and car seat and various accessories.
Well it turns out I was totally wrong about the 6 weeks and they actually had everything in stock so we actually left with everything this morning!!
So now we have the isofix and car seat in the car alreadyalthough driving back from the shop it did cause OH and I to both have a bit of a panic attack as the reality that in a few weeks time we are going to have a baby in that car seat has just hit home.....
Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

Oh and the other thing, we went for dinner with some friends this evening and I got told that I've got the neatest cutest baby bump they've ever seen......cue smug faceOur first baby due 25th May 2014 :T
Maternity leave fund: £3000/£6000 :T0 -
Our pram is now is position, the car seat is by the hospital bag (the backseat is currently swamped by two balls, various bottles, two sports drinks Mega tubs and 4 wheels haha), the chassis fits in its place beside the fridge and the carrycot folds flat and is under the cot bed :-)
We finally have extra sheets and have ordered some for the moses basket/carrycot.
I've decided i Want to make a cot skirt, saw the fabric I want in JL so have to wait to get to the branch my mum works at so she can use her discount for me!
Also, my hair had gone awfully dry and naughty but finally got some of the cussons pregnancy conditioner and its like I got a full head hair transplant after one wash! Smooth, glossy, salon-esq hair which looks lovely :-) definitely one product I rate - already have the new mum 2in1 too...also planning on continuing to use all my Champneys bump products after birth cost they are too dreamy not to!************************************

lushlifesaver - I will be buying some of that conditioner! - my hair is wild it is so thick and is getting dry.
mysecretalias - I thought I did have a neat bump but the way its expanding now makes it not so neat! As long as baby is ok I don't mind. Can always get fit after the birth and hopefully loose the extra weight.
chelseablue- I have gone for the Oyster. Really liked how small it folded up and the fact it is light.3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:
