usually you are supposed to make the appointments yourself with the gp or MW every 4 weeks.. booking, 16, 20 (this is the one sometimes left out), 24, 28.. you arent sent these appointments you have to arrange them yourself.. they send the 28 week one because they want bloods.

I only have booking and scans anyway.. I have cancelled several appointments and ignored others they refused to cancel.. I dont think they are reassuring when you can feel baby squirming, they just find something to make you worry about every single time.. I think they cause more anguish than they prevent. Things can change so very quickly and they are so far apart you are more likely to notice a problem yourself than they are.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Thanks pig, I assumed they made them for us as nobody told us that we had to make them ourselves, when I looked at that flowchart thing in the green book it looked like we missed quite a few.
Oh and regarding the MatB form does that usually come through the post or does the midwife give it at the appointment?Married 1st October 2015:heartpuls

I just made sure I had my next appointment booked with my midwife before I left the one before. The midwife will give you the MATB1 form.
I'm becoming quite anti - social the further on I'm getting. Not had one whole day to myself although I know meeting friends and family for lunch isn't exactly taxing. I got offered lunch today and politely refused for a day of pottering around the house doing things at my own pace instead! Feel like I've got an animal instinct to crawl into a dark cave and give birth with just my husband there lol. Failing that I'll just keep the blinds closed, go for a long bath and clean the house lol.
Edit: made that sound like I was in labour there - I wish!0 -
We didn't have to book appointments. The midwife just sorted it. I've actually got a 25 week one and a 28 week for some reason. That squished in with my other appointments is making it a very busy month! But grateful though as most of these appointments have been made for days where I'm working XD
Baby hasn't been right since all the poking yesterday. He's very wriggly but can't seem to move out of this really awkward position. They said that he was head down, bum to my left and feet to my right when I left yesterday. I'm assuming he's stretching his legs out.0 -
I had an appointment at 22 weeks (blood re-taken because of Anti-D) and my next one is 28 weeks to get results etc. Also have one at 29 weeks to get Anti-D injection. I got my MatB at the 22 week appointment.
I have been given dates for Parent Craft classes but they are when I am 36-38 weeks. Not sure if I will be up for it by then. Are they worth it?0 -
You need to request the matb form and if eligible healthy start vouchers and anythng else you need.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

At the start of my maternity book there is a flowchart listing all of the standard appointments you should have (including scans). It does say that a few of them are only for first pregnancy, but if I recall correctly, it's:
Booking in (approx. 8-10 weeks)
Dating scan (approx. 12 weeks)
16 weeks
Anomaly scan (approx. 20 weeks)
25 weeks
28 weeks
31 weeks
34 weeks
36 weeks
38 weeks
40 weeks
41 weeks
42 weeks
Obviously the last few are only applicable if you're still preggers at that point.
I did have an emergency apt at 21/22 weeks with the headache and high blood pressure, and then she booked me in again for the week after as well just to ensure all was back to normal. So those two appointments were extras, and outside of the norm.
Bamama, I'm so glad your scan went well and all is 'normal'. Long may it continue that wayFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0 -

Huh. That's interesting. My midwife always books in the next appointment when I'm in with her.
I just assumed they all did that as standard.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

Mine did too.0 -
My midwife will say to me see you in so many weeks and then I have to make the appointment in reception myself so always make sure I do that before leaving0
