Because of my high BMI they have done growth scans throughout, and at 37 weeks estimated baby at 7lb 14oz... by the 10th that's another 5 weeks of growing time.0

Thanks BadlyWrittenPoem. That makes me feel better. I've spoken to my Mum and baked some cupcakes and I feel much less stressed out now. Bless her, mum even offered to take the day off tomorrow to make me feel better! I'm off out for lunch though, so that will make the day go quicker.First date 10.2.2002

When I had the teenager I had a growth scan about 4 weeks before he arrived and was told that he already weighed 8 lbs, I got myself in a right state about it and was really upset when I went into labour-he was 7lbs 1oz. Pffft to scan weight guesses0

Sorry to be ignorant but how long would it take for them to help him transfer? ... Id like to hope he'd be able to go in if you just had an unplanned one! I wonder why theyre so funny about it needing to be an nhs wheelchair how weird
It really doesn't take bf long to transfer as he can walk a little
LannieDuck is right it's because of the perceived infection risk from his own chair
To be honest I think the hospital is being awkward for the sake of it sometimes. They won't let us have a look around the ward, we can't do a trial run of our trip to the hospital as they have to buzz you in at the dedicated door for the maternity wards...it goes on.
Not too worried though as baby is behaving well and has been head down for a couple of months now, regularly engaging then popping out for a bit and everything looks to be pointing to a 'normal' delivery. Secretly a huge relief for bf as his cp is due to a traumatic birth so I think in his mind he just wants everything as straight forward 'normal' as possible!
Awful nights sleep, I know they say to sleep on your left because lying on your right side can effect your circulation but its so comfortable for me I have to lie on my right! My lower back/hips are starting to get tired all the time now so ache mildly non stop. Bearable but still frustrating! Secretly want to blame all the stairs at work that I'm forever up and down!************************************

Hopefully in that case then Lush you won't have any issues.
Our hospital doesn't do tours anymore although I'm not that bothered as already spent the night in the higher risk ward, I've just not seen the MLU unit. But there are pictures and video online as it's only 18 months old. Apparently if you ring up you might be able to persuade them to let you have a look round but I don't really have any pressing reasons to.
On Sunday we've got our free 1 day ante natal class there so I guess we might get a peak at it then but I'm not sure.0 -
Morning everyone
I've come down with a cold and due date is fast approaching! I'm hoping I feel better this weekend and baby turns up soon as sleeping is so uncomfortable.
Our hospital doesn't let anyone look round the mat ward lush. Each hospital seems to do it completely their own way.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck
Phase 1 - Emergency Fund - Complete :j
Phase 2 - £20,000 Mortgage Fund - Underway0 -
Smlsave I've got a bad cold too
Our hospital doesn't do tours either, but at my recent midwife appointment I explained the issues I had staying in the hospital recently, and she's given me the contact details of the manager of the birth centre and told me to say she sent me, and instructed me to ring and get them to show me round. So I think if you've been sent by a midwife and with good reason you can be shown round.
Though I haven't actually worked up the courage to phone yet so I might be told to sod off.....lol
To be honest we are swaying towards switching hospitals when we move now so I might just switch to a more pleasant one.Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T
Maternity leave fund: £3000/£6000 :T0 -
My hospital does tours, we are going on Sunday
Had my 28 week appointment today, was lovely.
She had a trainee with her so the trainee spent ages feeling my bump, then the midwife had a feel to check as well
She said she could actually feel his ears! And that he has a lovely head
Bump measures 27cm which she said is normal and heartbeat sounds great xx0 -

Our midwife tried and so did the MCHA from antenatal (twice) but they were having none of it - think you just have to pester them until they give in!
Thinking about getting a couple of pre-loadable cards I can get with a discount for Boots/ASDA/etc through my health insurance scheme (work perk...although there's no maternity benefits!) to use to buy stuff once baby is here - e.g I can get a £60 card for Boots but it will only cost me something like £54 - every little helps as they say!************************************
