Congratulations Pinkshoes, what a lovely early Christmas present! I bet your DS1 is really excited! Hope both babies continue to do well and little boy is well enough to go home very soon :)

  • Congratulations pinkshoes. Lovely news! Hope little boy is doing OK. Do let us know the names when you can.

How is everyone else doing? All prepped for Christmas?

Starting to struggle a little bit now. Really tired, not sleeping very well, hips achy, heartburn returning. Just a few more (half) days of work and I can chill out.

Had a busy day yesterday. Woke up at 3am (again!) so watched TV until work at 7. Came home at 12, picked up my car from the garage as it blew up a couple of weeks ago, dropped that home, then went to the hospital for a growth scan. All is well, baby a little big, but nothing to worry about. Discharged back to the midwife now. Then home for dinner. As we were leaving to go watch star wars at 8 (which I may have had a few very long blinks through whilst it was on) we heard an alarm and found that next door had just been broken into whilst they were out. Quiet scary as all the neighbours were home and no one saw anything. Home at 11 and fell into a coma until 6am! Best nights sleep in a week.
  • Ahh congratulations pinkshoes! What a fabulous Christmas present! :) xx

I've been a bit awol for the last few weeks - everything felt really busy and I've no idea how I'm 36 weeks! (plus devildolly and TopQuark!). I'm with you on the heartburn, achy hips and not sleeping devildolly - everyone says the last few weeks are the worst and I reckon they must be right!

Christmas prep is all pretty much done and we even finished our birth plan yesterday (although I'm convinced it'll end up being a work of complete fiction). Midwives appointment this afternoon and then DH has bought me a mum to be massage for Christmas at the Thermae Bath Spa which I'm doing tomorrow lunchtime (while he does some last minute shopping no doubt). After that it's just sit back (on my bouncy ball) and wait! xxx

Evening ladies - hope that we're all as well as can be ?

My spd is definitely starting - I am struggling to get up from the floor and if I've been sitting on the sofa also struggle a bit when I try moving after. Thankfully LO doesn't bother my ball so I can have it out and am spending quite a bit of time sitting on it.

I have 10 hrs of work left :j a half day tomorrow of 4 and a half hrs and my usual short day of 5 hours on a Thursday. Totally winding things up now. Half my cover is off sick, and looking like it may become long term sick but have agreement from management that if it does continue they will employ another locum to plug the gap.

Christmas is all sorted - just bringing down a few presents each day so there won't be any pressure to get it all sorted on Thursday evening. I told LO that no one can touch the present's until Santa has been and taken his magic key. Bless her, she's going nowhere near it and if I move something tells me off pointing to Santa's key!

Ooh, enjoy your massage tomorrow frozenpenguin! I asked OH for a manicure for Christmas, but doubt it will be forthcoming (not really his thing to arrange) so may treat myself early January.

Devildolly, good luck for your last few days of work and hope that they go smoothly. I feel your pain re the insomnia; if my LO wakes me she goes back to sleep and I am awake for hours... yesterday we could all have a lie in so she woke at 5:30. This morning had work and nursery and I had to wake her at 8!

Hope that everything is well hieveryone and look forward to hearing your news soon.

Pinkshoes, if you're reading, hope that all is well and you'll soon be home.

    Hope that everyone is ok

    Morning ladies :)
Busy day of appointments for me today, 28w midwife and first appointment at the VBAC clinic. Means I'm only working a half day, and will probably leave after lunch tomorrow too so only 2 half days left before Christmas! :j

I've been getting SPD type pains too Saffagal, and also what think might be sciatica, but all sporadic and not too hard to manage so far. Will speak to MW about it today though. Was particularly sore yesterday, my DH was out and DD was being a proper grumpy bum, bedtime was a bit of a nightmare! :o she was cheerful and easy to deal with this morning though, and I felt much better for a good sleep too. Roll on the Christmas holidays!

36 weeks appointment today, I was late, oops. Midwife has said if I go naturally I can use the birth center which is great.

Also got a Christmas card of OHs grandfather, if was a sort of 'round robin' note in it (we see him regularly anyway), he was widowed earlier this year. The note told people how he was coping without his wife, and one of the things he said was that the last thing his wife was able to enjoy and understand before passing was that myself and husband were expecting a child next year, and he is very much looking forward to being a great-grandfather. He is a man of few words so this meant a lot. I must be getting the pregnancy hormones in spades as it made me a little teary, I haven't been tearful or moody all pregnancy- I have a heart of stone usually (or so I'm told).
  • Thats lovely rambosmum.

Last day of work for me. Yippppeeeee!!!!!!

Probably wont be on here for a few days over Christmas, so wish you all a lovely Christmas. Diamondorchid, locky, snow-ball and hieveryone, I wish you all the luck if things get started over the Christmas period. Looking forward to a few updates.

That's really nice Rambosmum - my DH's grandma was so incredibly excited and proud when she knew she was going to be a great-grandma, she really enjoyed meeting DD and spending time with her. Sadly she died last year and is much missed by the whole family, but I'm so glad she was able to meet DD.

I got to the midwife drop in clinic for my appointment yesterday and discovered it wasn't running. I only went there as I couldn't get an appointment at my GP's with community midwife, so annoying! I had a consultant appointment last week when they do all the same routine checks, but I wanted my 28w blood results and to talk about my sciatica/SPD pain. Will have to wait until my 32 w appointment I guess! I'm at the GP for whooping cough jab next week, so will ask the nurse to check my blood results in case anything is amiss.

I also had my VBAC clinic appointment yesterday, which was with a senior midwife. As expected it was mostly to tell me all about hospital policies, most of which I intend to refuse, but the MW was really supportive (and obviously pleased that I'd done some research). Next step is to write my birth plan and discuss with my MW when I see her next, and with the consultant at my next appointment with him. Not expecting that conversation to be much fun! The MW at the VBAC clinic seemed quite sure that I'd be offered access to the midwife led unit if I persisted in planning a home birth though, which is what DH would prefer. I'd still prefer a home birth, so am going to talk to my midwife about it, and maybe contact a supervisor of MW to discuss further.

And just like that, I am done with work until 2017! Very excited about it and feeling slightly awed at the idea of having a little time to myself through January - SUCH a luxury!

LO was a right little tinker this evening, but SO excited about her new Christmas Pj's that Santa brought, and her Christmas storybook she got dressed in them with no quibbles or playing up and after reading her story settled down to sleep. Have all the presents spread out and under the tree; and just her presents from Santa to slip into her bedroom when I go up to bed.

Baby seems quite excited about Christmas too, or maybe its not having to go with mommy to work anymore? My spd seems to have eased off again - though there are certain things I just can't do at present, it is nowhere near as bad as it was last time round so am thankful about that! Definitely worse in the evenings and if I relax on the sofa, getting up to go to bed/the bathroom is quite painful.

Littlemoog, glad that your vbac clinic went well and am sure if there was an issue with your bloods they would have rung you.

devildolly - I can share your joy at finishing work!

Rambosmum, there is definitely something about these hormones... I am usually really calm and placid, but my mood swings of late have been quite something :o

Not sure I'll get on over the next few days so going to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas with your loved ones. Take care and travel safely
