I've been pondering the rest vs movement question myself!! I don't know what's best tbh - no-one said either way.
I'm back at work for the moment but I don't know how long I'll last - once I get into work and up those stairs I never fully recover! My desk chair has become really uncomfortable so at this rate I won't last until 36 weeks (29 now)Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock0 -
Hi everyone - wow it's been busy in the thread! Glad to see it's mainly good news.
I hope Trixie has (or had) a wonderful wedding day!
Sorry to those of you with builders still in, we've managed to get all our mammoth amount of decorating done without baby making an appearance so I'm very happy about that - hubby just needs to fit some flooring tomorrow and we need to get some mats made but apart from that we are done!
I'm 38+2 today so probably still have time but Moses basket is ready and newborn clothes are washed, just need to get a few bigger bits sorted and the rearranging of furniture etc will take ages but I'm quite content that we would be ready. Not that I think bump is close to coming mind - s/he seems very comfy in there and quite content with punching me a lot! I enjoyed my friends hen weekend last weekend - it was really good in the end although I felt a bit bad missing the night out however, I text another of my friends the next day to ask how it was and she said everywhere was rammed so I think that was a good decision! I lasted 12 hours of activities on the Saturday and didn't leave until almost 11pm so think I did well. Then we had a family get together on the Sunday for my brothers birthday which was lovely and my niece and nephew (aged 4 & 2) both had a stroke of my bump which was cute. My niece understands there is a baby in there and is very excited to meet her baby cousin! Luckily I felt really well for the whole weekend apart from the pulled muscle in my ribs which isn't really improving although I've obviously been shattered since and didn't get much done the last few days! (Except supervising the carpet fitting and a bit of washing).
I had my hospital bags with me just in case so they are still all packed and ready. I've been having period pains on and off since Monday and a few tightenings but don't think much else is happening. It appears Lottie has had her baby so I'm now first on the list (eeeeeekkkkk!!!!) however anyone being induced has a good chance of beating me - definitely think I've got a while longer to go so just enjoying the rest while I can.
Re: what to wear for giving birth is anyone planning a water birth? I bought some cheap nighties at first which will be useful for after if I don't use them to deliver in but I'm really hoping to have baby in the pool so I've bought a very cheap black bikini (the bottoms have tie sides for easy removal when the time comes) but to be honest I can see myself ending up naked, I hate the constricting feeling of clothes especially bras when hot and I have a very sensitive stomach which hurts when anything presses on it so I go braless in the house a lot at the moment (partly because I've outgrown all my bras again!)
Will have to check out asda for some nursing bras - I went to mothercare to get measured and the lady was very unhelpful and couldn't find much there I liked anyway so will just get a couple of cheap nursing bras to see me through and then maybe invest in some good ones once feeding is established and I know a bit better what I need.
Wow - sorry for the long post! Got my 38 wk appointment this afternoon so will be back on later to update after that!
Hope everyone is good - stay safe in the snow!0 -
auntie pickle sorry to hear you're in so much pain, that really sucks, especially when you can't get comfy *hugs*
Nicky noo naa home stretch now, how exciting!! Hopefully you can make the most of resting up now you are more or less ready?
At our water birth class they recommended a tightish stretchy vest top type thing? Enough to hold your boobs in, but not a floppy saggy one, and definitely not a long one as it will just weigh you down IYSWIM? Good luck for your appointment.
I believe I had a 'false labour' episode late last night, an hour and half of horrid contraction type feelings (I think, anyway, worse than any Braxton hicks), I seriously thought bubs was on her way. Rather scary, as I'm only 32+6. we were going downstairs to ring the maternity unit when they started to ease off.
So, I feel like I've done 10 rounds in the ring, and am utterly shattered-have not long since been out of bed. I've been instructed to have a lazy day, but I've bargained some craft room time out of my OH, so I may get munchkin's change bag finished (between naps)
Hugs to all xxx'By all means let's be open minded, but not so open minded that our brains drop out.'0 -
I wore an old 3/4 black old maxi dress for labour although I was induced ended up with an epidural bed ridden, so my bits were on full display to midwife and docs. It didn't concern me too much as there are other things to think about.
This time if I get a home water birth will prob wear just a sports bra in water. I have a basic nightee just from primark I can wear before getting in water.:jMarried 16/07/2010, ds1 born 11/08/12, baby due 08/05/20150 -
Hey, I feel like I've missed loads! I've been so busy this week with a lot of late evenings at work, so by the time I get home I've just gone straight to bed. I'm in desperate need of a food shop (will go to Aldi in the hope they still have plenty of baby gear!), the washing basket is overflowing and I've got school planning and marking coming out of my ears. I was grateful of a lay in today though, it was well needed
Seems you're still talking about what to wear during and after the event - I've not had a chance to look for a night shirt or anything yet, will probably wait until half term when I eventually get some spare time on my hands. I hadn't actually though about what to wear if I do go for a water birth. I've been given a tankini from a friend which I've worn a couple of times swimming but the bottoms are now too tight. I'm thinking of the Primark strappy vests which are about £2 as I bought a few in a size up which have been great for wearing under other tops as they are stretchy and cover under the bump in the tops that are becoming a short, plus they're quite thin. The tie-side bottoms are a great idea so I'll keep an eye out for some. I will definitely NOT be going naked!! The thought makes me shudderGoing home, I'll probably go for maternity jeans or leggings and a maternity or over-size top.
After our decorating disaster last week with paint that turned out the wrong colour, we now have a nursery! :j DH and my Dad re-painted Sunday night and Monday, then my Dad came back in the week to do the glossing. We went to Ikea on Monday and bought 2 x sets of 4 drawers and a wardrobe, then DH and two of his friends built it all Tuesday night. DH collected the cotbed Weds and it was built that eveningI'm now looking for a range of accessories like curtains, a rug, some pictures and maybe some wall stickers so it's starting to come together!
We had the lady from customer care come round on Weds and she is contacting us next week with what works they can carry out and hopefully give us a date. Even though the floor in the nursery is something that needs fixing, they still think they will do it via the living room ceiling. If worse comes to worse and they do need to rip up the flooring in the nursery, well the builders can do it! And if they mess up the painting they will be sorting it out!
We've not actually put any of the baby gear into the drawers or wardrobe yet though as I had parents evening on Thursday so didn't get in until 10pm, and then we had a nice takeaway at my parents last night. In all honesty, whilst I really want to put it all away, I have no idea where to even start! How on earth do you organise baby clothes!?!? We got drawer dividers from Ikea, but I'm struggling with how to even consider organising it all. For example, we have got several complete outfits that come with scratchmitts, hats and bootees, but do I keep them all together or separate them all and have a separate place for all the hats, all the bootees etc?? My brain can't cope at the minuteAlso, to hang in a wardrobe or not? Even though we got it, I have no idea what to put in it
Please give me some inspiration as to how you have organised yours!

Hi bubble - yep pretty much ready now. Always something else that could be washed/tidied/organised but feel like I'll know more like how often stuff will get used once baby is here.
Jedi - hope you get to have the birth you want, I have my fingers tightly crossed for a water birth or at least to deliver on the midwife led birth unit rather than delivery suite
Bless you missy - you sound super busy! I really wouldn't worry so much about the organisation of the clothes. I've got 4 small drawers so I've divided the clothes by sizes (newborn/1 month/3 months) and put the socks/booties/hats in the top drawer with blankets and towels in a big one at the bottom - then I've hung up any 'nicer' sleepsuits, cardigans and snowsuits. It's looking a bit empty at the moment but I'm sure the amount of clothes will increase once we've had visitors and we know if baby is a he or she! Well done on getting the nursery pretty much finished, you've done about as much as me and I'm due a lot sooner than you, lol
Had my mw appt yesterday and baby is not all engaged and I've not had any other signs so looking like I baby is very comfy. I'm booked in at 40+2 for a sweep so will have to see if that gets me anywhere. I would rather not be induced so several sweeps, long walks etc will be on the cards!0 -
My what to wear has been decided, Either a nightie or nursing vest if I end up in the water - both from Primark. As Missy said, there will be no way I'll be totally naked!
Carpet is being laid in the nursery on Monday, can't wait to see it looking like a proper room! The pushchair/pram was delivered to my mums this morningOH wanted to get it all out to play with it but it's probably best to leave it in the boxes for now, very exciting tho! Going to order the nursing chair too, found one I like in Asda's website for £155 & they have free delivery on at the mo. The furniture is all being delivered next saturday & OH has asked his friend to help building it so hopefully I'll be able to start putting things away soon, I also have no idea how to organise everything, I guess over time it may evolve to what is easiest so will be a work in progress for a while.
I had my 1st daisy birthing class on wednesday. It was really good, I found it very relaxing and gave me lots of things to think about and focus on during labour........hopefully!0 -

Just read the last page while night feeding.
Nicky Noo Na, I wore a bikini top in the birthing pool. Had the bottoms with me but didn't expect to wear them (turns out as waters broke first I was either sitting on absorbent mats or butt naked in pool anyway).
I had a cheP button through just below knee nightie I bought specially from Primark, plus Button through PJs and two stripy pull down able nighties.
I stayed in the bikini top out of the pool in the midwife led unit (in too much pain/ contractions too frequent to think about changing). They put me in a hospital gown when they transferred me to the delivery suite in a wheelchair.
It's worth having a few PJs/nighties for your hospital stay, or making sure OH knows what ones to bring later if you're in for a while. The post natal wArd was full of women instructing OHs over the phone which drawer at home to find xyz and being it in.
One girl I chatted to was trying to explain to her OH she wanted her face cream and stretch mark cream bringing in. Apparently he couldn't comprehend twomoistutisersdoing different things, and emptied her whole drawer of toiletries and brought that ingot get to choose from!0 -
My sister has a spare key to my house, she's under instructions that when anything happens I'll be asking her to find the random items I need! I've also warned her, incase I go early & haven't packed, everything I need is in the spare room, I just have no idea where!0

Tilly Dreams - I hope all went went at your scans and you got to see lovely images of your baby!
Trixsie - I can't believe you got married on Friday  glad your test results came back okay so you could enjoy cake and treats on the day.
Always alone - I feel bad too when my kids want to play and I'm just too tired, DD is always wanting me to chase her or skip and there's just no way I can do those for more than 7 seconds! It's hard to say no to them, but a cosy DVD day sounds lovely too.
Fuzzipeg - Hoping you've got the hot water sorted, or at least soon. TBH I'd quite like an excuse not to have to shower very often during the winter, a damp facecloth does the job!
Jediquigley - there's still plenty of time for the placenta to move to a better place, fingers crossed it does so you can have a lovely HB!
Aunty-Pickle - Just wondering if maybe a footstool to go with your work chair might help make things more comfy? Not sure if you're short or tall, but I'm a shorty and find that footstools really help my back.
Nicky Noo Na - yay you are so close! Nearing the time when friends and family phone you up everyday to find out if the baby has arrived!
Bubblepops - glad it was just a practice labour, hopefully baby stays put for a few more weeks!
Princess Kate and Missy-moo - you are both so prepared :T I have knit a few wee things for this baby but literally have done nothing else
I've not posted on this thread for a week due to having no laptop and it was very slow going trying to type much on the kindle. I've had no bleeding since last week, but every so often seem to get pain which feels like it's coming from my cervix. I've an appointment for a culposcopy tomorrow morning to see if there's any reason for the bleeding episode, I'm really hoping they find nothing to be concerned about and I can stop all this worrying and enjoy the pregnancy.
Besides that, I feel quite unprepared. I haven't felt like shopping for baby yet (especially this past week), and our bedroom needs to be cleaned and rearranged for baby. Our house isn't terribly small, but it really doesn't feel like there's much room for anything new! Still have to sort ut sleeping arrangements for DD and DS, I'm thinking bunk beds just to get them out of the habit of always both sleeping in DD's single bed, which doesn't look too comfy.
Feeling a little breathless at times, I'm guessing it's just the baby taking up breathing space, but I'm not sure how I'll manage another 12 weeks!
