  • Hi ladies and babies, hope everyones doing ok.

Lottie - Hope you are enjoying newborn cuddles!! Enjoy your squishes!

Tilly - defo mention your hip pain to the MW just so she's aware even if she can't help at the mo. How much longer do you have workmen in for? Still have all of ds1 bits but when we moved i vac packed them and didn't think to do it is size order so need to lug it allllll out of the garage at some point and will need to go through everything.

Princess K - yay for wallpaper, bargains and a buggy!! I loved buggy shopping last time round, unfortunately i couldn't persuade OH to get another one this time round, so we're using the Oyster we had with ds1. But i want a new shiney one!! *stamps feet*

Mrs TM - wowsers you're organised!! I'm a little embarrased looking at your list when mine is still looking rather empty! I may just steal yours!! :rotfl:

Bubblepops - so glad you're scan went well, think i missed the fb post but will pop back and have a nose! Glad baby played ball and showed off for you!

Gayleygoo - Hope you're feeling better. Its so scary when you see blood, hopefully bubba has been moving around and put your mind at rest, altho you never really stop worrying

Milly - Glad your appointment went ok, i feel your pain, they are defo a PITA but we are so lucky that they are keeping a closer eye, its so much more reassuring.

Sorry if i've missed anyone, tried to comment on as many as i couldn't but couldn't remember any more!!

Thanks for the Primarni maternity tip (i wouldn't have even thought to look there) but will defo pop in to my local one and see what they have

Seen a few comments about what to wear when birthing, last time with ds1, i turned up to hospital in jeans and a jumper, took the jeans off and left the jumper on. Labour was 1.5 hours so didn't have time for anything else! As for going home, i just wore my maternity jeans and normal top just for comfort. With regard to bras, i'm swearing by sports bras at the mo, cheap as chips and comfortable!

As for me, had the whooping cough jab last friday and my arms still swollen :( started iron tablets on the same day and i don't think they're agreeing with me either. And i have an awful cold too on top of it all...moan moan moan!! Felt very sorry for ds yesterday as i was being sick and feeling so poorly and he just wanted me to play and take him out. He had a dvd day but i feel awful not being abole to do as much as i'd like with him :(

Had another scan this mroning and baby is still measuring small but following his line so they were happy to sign me off for 4 weeks, but they're now not happy with the blood flow through the cord going into baby so i'm back in 2 weeks with very very strict instructions to go back if there is any change in baby's movement. However, there doesn't seem to be a pattern to movement so not really sure how to monitor it.
  • Ooooooh Phoenix i've just noticed you're sig..i'm a fair weather comper, how do you find your comps if you don't mind me asking? I used twiterlicious but haven't really done anything since you had to pay to use it.

Well, the best laid plans and all that...

It seems that the builders will still be in residence to welcome us home from the hospital next week after all (booooo...). Plumber uncovered issues with the central heating which have taken a while to sort out. I gayly sent him home last night leaving the boiler off thinking we'd just switch on the electric immersion overnight. Nuh-uh. Turns out there's an electric fault with that too, so we've had no hot water or heating for more than 24 hours - and about 6 inches of snow has fallen. Poor timing that one...

Fatbaby still seems happy and content though - he's been very wiggly the last couple of days and I have finally got the hunger to "eat for two". Figure I can't do much damage either to my waistline or diabetes at this late stage in the game!

Always_alone - hope you're feeling better soon. I reacted to the jab too, but it was over in a couple of days. Hang in there :)

Trixsie1989 - glad you avoided the dreaded diabetes, as it's not been a barrel of laughs! Congrats for tomorrow (?) and enjoy your slice of cake (you can have one for me too! ;)).

Princess kate - thanks for the Asda tip. I suddenly realised I only had one bra as the nice bra lady never rang me back to say she'd found more, so I ordered a couple yesterday and they arrived this morning.

Home births are generally set with the lights fairly dim, so if the midwife needs to check something out, she will need light, and we don't have a small lamp that's bright enough that won't blind me while she does the checks, thus, the torch!

I'm washing muslins and going to try to work on a baby quilt later on today. Taking it easy, just trying to stay busy. Little boy is being really active, but really gentle today. I think he knows something is up with mommy and she needs a bit more love today.

Thanks mrs t m I am planning a home birth although not down to details yet as I am only 26 weeks. I am sure my husband will be happy when I tell him his magnalight torch will be needed lol

  • I had my 25 week midwife appt this week, all is well. I declined the gtt as the only reason they want me to have it is because I had a 9lb baby (he was 12 days over and was actually long rather than chubby).

Even though I am hoping for a home birth I won't know if that is truly possible until I get my 32 week scan to check my low lying placenta has moved.

Feeling tired but my back ache hasn't been too bad at all.

  • Afternoon all :)

Good news on your GTT Trixsie! Are you getting married tomorrow? How exciting! Hope you have a fab day x

Thanks Always Alone :) I saw my midwife earlier and I did mention the hip pain to her (it's worse today than yesterday again, boo. Was really struggling to walk around). She said to let her know if it gets worse and she can refer me, but in the meantime I should keep my knees together as much as possible (when getting in and out of bed, or my car, or getting dressed for example) and to try going on all fours then arching my back. Not tried that yet as worried I won't be able to get up again so I'll wait til DH is home!

Sorry to hear about your swollen arm and cold - boo for both! Hopefully a few days rest and both things will settle down.

The builders finished today, yay! It was meant to be ten days work but ended up being 13.5 days so I'm ready for some peace and quiet, and privacy. Also looking forward to a lie in in the morning!

Sorry to read that your builders will be back once baby's here Fuzzipeg but I guess you can't really delay your heating and hot water! You must be further north than me as we've only had a sprinkling of snow which seemed to have pretty much disappeared by the time I left the midwife anyway!

Ours is a 4 cell maglight! We had a battery leak in it though, so I need to find a bottle brush long enough to scrub it out with a bit of bicarb before I put new batteries in it.

Had my midwife appointment yesterday here at the house, and she is loving how organised I am. Today is my birthday, and I've tried to take the day off, but I've had two naps and made dinner and hung up some wet laundry on the clothes horse. That counts as 'taking the day off,' right? :rotfl:

  • Tilly - please ask to get a referral done for physio sooner rather than later. My hip pain progressed within a few days so I can hardly walk and am struggling to drive. All advice says early management is best.

  • princess Kate thanks for the bra tip-they are out of stock in my [STRIKE]ridiculously huge[/STRIKE] size, but I'll keep checking back, as that's about a third of the price of anywhere else.

trixsie great news about the GD-try not to get too stressed about the big day, and enjoy it (easier said than done I know!!) I'm sure it will all go well, and have a lovely day!!

always that's rubbish about the cold, etc. try to rest up as much as you can-hot water bottle and warm drinks. I also have a huge red, bruised arm from my jab on Monday, so I sympathise (a lot).
We had a similar issue with her cord at one of our previous scans-apparently it can right itself, we got the same info about monitoring movements, etc, but it's bloomin' scary, isn't it? Try not to worry too much-our readings were much improved at the next scan.

fuzzipeg grr to building work, does it actually ever go to plan? Sorry to hear about your heating too-thats rubbish timing! It's been pretty cold and snowy here, so I feel your pain! We don't have central heating, so I'm hugging the fire!! Glad baby is happy enough, and dancing away.

Jedi fingers crossed for that pesky placenta moving, so that you get your home birth.

Tilly :T to the peace and quiet!! I'm very jealous!!

mrs t m your 'day off' sounds like mine! It's so hard to slow down, isn't it. Happy birthday I hope you've had a good day.

I got stuck in the snow this morning for 2.5hours  not impressed. Not long since got home, so am thawing out, and then going to make some tea and try some cross stitch tonight

Hi Aunty Pickle, sorry to hear how much you're struggling :( it really sucks doesn't it? I guess I'll give it the weekend now and maybe contact my midwife on Monday if it's still as bad. Can I ask, do you find it easier to sit and rest most of the time or is it better if you keep moving little and often? I'm torn over what's best. I can't remember if you're still working or not? Thankfully I'm not so I can generally do what suits me which is good. I hope you're managing to look after yourself x
