hello all, thank you for your comments.

Ive started to think about packing my hospital bag as mums nagged me that as ive been warned I could go into early labour I need to be ready.

Question: What clothing have people included for themselves? Im think about after baby is born and im heading home im going to need so normal day clothes but I imagine im not going to be able to fit straight back into my "old" clothes and I don't want to pack any of my limited stock of maternity clothes as I really need all of it right now and cant afford to hid away a whole outfit for the next 2 months.

oh and my plan for what to wear during birth is a black strappy nightie (ive seen £5 from ebay). I get really hot so want something cool that I can put a dressing gown over if I get too cold. Ill then get nursing nighties/PJs for after and throw the cheap black one away.

I don't think I want to go naked!
  • Milly I bought a cheap pair of primani leggings and a long shirt top thing, I packed them straight away, and figured I wouldn't miss them that way. They reckon you'll still look 6-7 month pregnant, so pre-preg clothes wouldn't fit.

Or, you could,d maybe leave a note on your bag to pack an outfit before setting off to hospital. I have a list of 'extras' to shove in last minute-phone chargers, notes, drinks/food etc. This of course depends on you being organised/up to date with laundry (which is why I bought something!)

  • Hi tilly I would def mention the hip thing-I have hip pain, but it's a standard thing for me, so they've not done anything, but they do always ask if it's got any worse, so I would mention it, see if they can do anything? Good luck for your jab, and fingers crossed little monkey behaved for your scan!! Xx

:rotfl: mrs T M. They said that to us too-it must be a common occurrence!!! My OH was terrified at the prospect- 'no one's seeing my bits!!!'... I failed to find much sympathy...
    I hope you are well?

I'm not planning a water birth (wouldn't want to force them to even attempt to drag me out if I were to pass out due to my weight), and I think that DH was surprised that some husbands/partners would want to get in with the ladies!

We are doing pretty well. Had my 36 week mw appointment today at home, and I'm officially booked in for a home birth! Made my midwife very happy by saying that I'll have loads of coffee and a vegetarian curry in the slow cooker when I go into labour. :rotfl:

  • Bubblepops - have a look at Asda website, they do their maternity bras up to fairly big sizes & for £8 they're a bargain!

that's probably the best option Bubblepops, thank you.

I now just need to find time to head to the shopping center. I usually do all my shopping online. Maybe I can find something cheap of online!

Thanks Bubblepops :) the hip pain was a bit awkward walking to the doctors, I found myself taking quite small strides which seemed to help. The jab is done though and at the mo I can't even tell I've had it done so fingers crossed it stays that way and doesn't get sore.

Hi Milly, you know I'd not really thought about coming home clothes for me! I think I've got a top, pants and socks in my hospital bag, and nursing bras in my 'after baby' bag, but I think I just assumed I'd go home in the same jeans/bottoms, cardi/jumper and shoes as I go in wearing. Hmm might have to think about that closer to the time!
