I didn't hit size 10 until about 30 weeks in! Am quite bad at putting on weight. I think I will have to nip into the shops on my way into work tomorrow and see if I can scavenge anything - at present it's looking more like dresses and then every single pair of tights I can find because it is bleeding freezing in Wales! The New Look by me is pathetic for smaller sizing - I went in almost weekly last time and they only ever had 16+. I guess that's what I get for being the same size as an average 12 year old...
The other problem of course is that it all costs money!! It seems I can't escape this trap of spending even when I desperately want to
Hopefully ebay goes through and then I'll have a spare £15 or so.!
Onwards and upwards with the bump though
Ps. Did any of you ever get cramping so bad you wanted to cry? I'm barely out of the 12 week safety zone and my god the baby is giving me hell tonight!Laura 20.08.14 ♡ Ivy 05.07.13

Hi milocat, so sorry for your loss, I can't imagine how anyone would deal with that.
Breathless ladies-that can be a sign of low iron so worth mentioning at your next appointment-a midwife colleague picked up on my breathlessness a couple of weeks ago and did a full blood count. It has improved since I was prescribed iron.
I hope Birdie is getting on ok-afm, I'm looking forward to going back to work tomorrow for a rest as this weekend has been hectic.0 -
mysecretalias wrote: »faith I so wish I could take control with my baby shower as you seem to have done with yours. I have a very excited best friend (who incidentally I am now regretting throwing a very special baby shower for) who is intent on having this big surprise for me with loads of ladies and games and making it some lavish affair. I have already said I will never forgive her if she throws me one but she just tells me to shut up. Lol. So I guess there's nothing I can do about it! It was my OHs mother who 'let it slip' to me (because she finds it impossible to keep her mouth shut about anything) and she's talking about inviting MORE people, some of whom I've never met......
I have already told my best friend if she threw one she would have to deal with my interfering OHs mum, so I'm sure she's now realising exactly what I meant....knowing she must be suffering with that is the only thing making me feel slightly better right now about her going rogue and not listening to me!!
My OH doesn't get why I'm so mortified at the prospect of a baby shower....he just keeps saying 'what's the issue....the more people that come the more presents we'll get!'....... Grrrrrrr!!!
That was my worry when my SIL mentioned the baby shower! I was horrified at the thought of loads of attention, so agreed only if I could have a say and some control over it - otherwise it would have been a circus!
I did laugh at your OHs response though, that's men for you :rotfl: Presents are actually one of the reasons I didn't want one. It's very kind of people, however even on my own birthday I hate being the centre of attention.
Your best friend sounds lovely though and maybe next time she won't be so quick to arrange a baby shower after spending some time with your OHs mum lol.
So sorry for your previous loss milocat. I hope this pregnancy goes smoothly for youI'm not lucky enough to be a size 10, however never have a problem finding small sizes in our local New Look (just my luck!). I find that New Look is quite good price wise, yet other places are so expensive. Have you tried H&M?

Thanks faith, I'll just have to suck it up and deal with it I think. It is sweet how excited she is for me
Milocat I know what it's like to have a spending addiction - I was there in 20k of debt a few years ago. Once you have that lightbulb moment it gets easier. I'm now totally debt free. It's just getting to that lightbulb moment that takes time! In the meantime, have you looked at second hand/nearly new baby sales in your area? I've found some good maternity bargains at those (i.e. Brand new next maternity top for just £3). It takes a scout around but you can save some serious cash.
My maternity trousers so far have been from m&p (half price in sale down to £17), h&m (one pair was £30, one pair £25) and new look (£23) so not too bad but that's still more clothes than I had brought in the last two years combined, so it was a bit of a shock buying all that in one go, but when you're pregnant and don't fit into any of your trousers anymore you have no choice!
I was size 6 in September before I fell pregnant, now I'm a 12 ish. Only on my waist though, apart from there and my boobs I've not put on weight anywhere else. But once that waist starts expanding it's all downhillOur first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

Welcome milocat sorry to hear about your loss. Xx Asos is good for maternity clothes x
Birdie - still thinking of you
39 weeks today, have a feeling this baby is not going to come out anytime soon ! XFirst baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140 -
Congrats Lannieduck!!! Ouch to the appendix - have had mine out and it definitely hurts.
Don't want to go to work this am - didn't sleep well last night (serves me right for saying I was sleeping better!) . Its half term here - so got a few days off this week thank goodness0 -
Milo I didn't really change shape in a big way for a while either but even now at 36 weeks I'm still in the same Asos jeans even though my hips have grown about 4 inches, they've got such a comfy band on them and as they're skinny jeans the material is a bit stretchy so I'd definitely recommend them! They're under bump ones and think ill be wearing them afterwards much better than buttons lol!
My new look had plenty of small size tops, and at a good price I got a flowery one for £8 which I wear a lot, but I found the jeans were just huge and I'm not a small 8 I'm really closer to a 10 on my bum (well I was lol) so I think their sizing is just bad.
With Asos I normally spend the minimum to get free delivery then just send back what you don't want.
Oh I also got a plain black top in an 8 from debenhams red herring that fits well. I also got given bump bands from someone and you can use them to make your normal tops last longer which is handy. They're from new look.
Asos often sell new look stuff so you could always do that to help get the free delivery! Msa's suggestion of a jumper dress I would second! I have a few and wore them with maternity leggings until they rose too far up & became indecent lol!
I wonder if birdie has her baby now so exciting!
Msa if you can try not to worry. You might end up having a great time after all the people coming will be there because they are your friend/want to support you (and you will get nice pressies think of them as your reward for getting through it!) sometimes I find if you're stressing about something like that you'll just feel better if you just go with it and I'm sure it won't be too bad0 -
So first day of holiday/mat leave and I didnt sleep a wink last night so feeling pretty dreadful.
Although I know I dont have to get out of bed at all today which makes me feel slightly better!
I think the nerves have finally hit me - before hand I was looking forward to the last day of work, now that has been and gone, the next big date to watch out for is the due date and all of a sudden it seems very real!!
I can never relax at the best of times so am really struggling at the minute. Hopefully I will settle down over the next few days of being at home....0 -
All getting very real now, 28 week midwife appointment this Friday and hospital tour on Sunday.
Went to The Baby Show in London yesterday, bought a changing bag0 -
Becs I'm not finishing until 37 weeks and now wishing I was finishing earlier. But I know if I change my mind, at the end of my maternity I'll end up wishing I hadn't, so I'm keeping it as 37 week start!
Chelsea I was going to go to the baby show but couldn't find any good ticket deals. As it was I have been pretty much a cripple the last couple of weeks with my hips and this vertigo thing so it's probably best we didn't get tickets! I am going to go to the Bluewater baby show though when it's on, at the end of April.
My naughty changing bag I ordered still hasn't come yet!!! Boo!
Aww squ1rrel I know how you feel, I'm signed off at the moment and I hate lazing about at home I just find it so difficult to relax and switch off! I'm sure in a day or two once you get used to it, you'll start to enjoy having the time for yourself! I'm starting to get a bit like that though (nervous of the whole giving birth thing!) and I'm only 27 weeks! I'm going to be a wreck by my maternity leave! Mind you moving house between now and then should give me something else to focus on I guess!
Sending birdie wishes!!! I reckon the baby has arrivedOur first baby due 25th May 2014 :T
