  • Lannieduck wow hope you are ok, and massive congratulations :)

Birdie I assume you're now at the hospital so I hope everything is going well.

I feel HUGE today, had to go buy some new maternity trousers as the two pairs I have no longer fit me! My bump has grown even more over this weekend! And my hips/bum are killing me :( OH just spent half an hour reading to the baby though which was lovely, and I just finished making my cheesecake and had a piece and it was yummy :) off to make dinner now, I'm blooming starving!

  • Oh gawd I forgot to mention also, despite making my best friend promise not to throw me a baby shower it seems she hasn't listened one iota, and I've just been covertly told that it's going to be some lavish affair of posh afternoon tea in a private room at a hotel, with over 20 people going.....I didn't even think I knew 20 people!!

Feeling pretty terrified right now! No idea when it's going to be though. I think the stress of finding this out might send me into early labour!

What were everyone else's baby showers like? Are you having one/have you had one? I HATE being centre of attention and I'm really dreading it!

My friends were saying about a baby shower which I wasn't keen on so I have said my birthday tea party is now birthday tea party/baby shower and if they want to bring games we can play some.

I've been to a couple and it was just silly games like fun ones, nibbles and of course a few little gifts for baby.

I think doing it this way means one won't be arranged for me and as it's in my home I can say when I'm tired etc.

Just baked a chocolate cake and chicken thighs and dumplings are nearly ready so must be dinner time. Then bed ha ha.

I finish up work on Friday, will be 36 weeks :)

Reg baby showers, I'm not having one as I don't even like going to them lol. My gran and aunties were wanting me to have one but I told them not to bother as I wont go. My friends have already bought me bits and bobs also so wouldn't want them to think they had to again. I do have a few lunches arranged with friends though to catch up before baby is here, that's my happy alternative.

Hi ladies - think I ought to introduce myself!
I lost my first baby after an abruption at 32 weeks and it pretty much ruined my life. Now I've found out I'm pregnant again, only this time around my debt is much worse and OH and I are much less stable :(

Luckily I have a lot of stuff lying around from the last pregnancy. Unluckily, I start a new job tomorrow and I'm not allowed to wear jeans and I cannot for the life of me find size 6/8 maternity trousers for petite women! Argh! I've been advised not to tell them for another month or so as well due to all the complications we had last time - and therefore that puts all my nice tight fitting maternity dresses out the window as well.

Milo cat I'm so sorry for your loss that's just devastating. I'm glad you are expecting again though.

I bought size 8 maternity jeans from Asos and I'm sure they sell other trousers on there. New look size 8 were like waders on me! Asos were much more true to size. They also had different leg lengths. Maybe also try h&m they often have small sizes.

Congratulations Lannieduck! So pleased that you are both okay, although sounds like it was very dramatic.

Good luck Birdie, hope its going well and we hear some news soon :)

I'm having a baby shower next weekend mysecretalias. I HATE being the centre of attention however am looking at it being a quiet afternoon to catch up with friends. We have about 15 people coming, mostly family and a few close friends and just plan on having cake and laughs.

I only have 3 weeks left of work (finish at 37 weeks) and am sooo pleased! I am already shattered and have just had a weeks holiday (half term), the idea of going back is not appealing at the moment.
  • Hi milocat and massive congratulations, so sorry to hear the awful time you must have gone through with losing your baby :(

In terms of maternity wear don't worry about not being able to find 6/8 maternity wear, you'll soon be in much bigger stuff :p I actually did go to new look today and they had quite a few pairs of trousers in size 8 though so maybe try there? If you find a big new look they've usually got a fairly decent maternity collection.

I would just wear maternity leggings and a loose fitting jumper dress if I were you :) is that smart enough?

  • faith I so wish I could take control with my baby shower as you seem to have done with yours. I have a very excited best friend (who incidentally I am now regretting throwing a very special baby shower for) who is intent on having this big surprise for me with loads of ladies and games and making it some lavish affair. I have already said I will never forgive her if she throws me one but she just tells me to shut up. Lol. So I guess there's nothing I can do about it! It was my OHs mother who 'let it slip' to me (because she finds it impossible to keep her mouth shut about anything) and she's talking about inviting MORE people, some of whom I've never met......

I have already told my best friend if she threw one she would have to deal with my interfering OHs mum, so I'm sure she's now realising exactly what I meant....knowing she must be suffering with that is the only thing making me feel slightly better right now about her going rogue and not listening to me!!

My OH doesn't get why I'm so mortified at the prospect of a baby shower....he just keeps saying 'what's the issue....the more people that come the more presents we'll get!'....... Grrrrrrr!!!
