View - am glad you had a better nights sleep
Alioops- if your OH is anything like mine, they don't understand urgency and wanting to get things done - I am still a long way off, but keep thinking December will come round quickly so need to get all the odd jobs done
Mrs C you had a bargain with your car seat, I paid about that for each bit!!! Wish I had waited now but was desperate to buy!
Bluebell- thanks for the birth story and congratulations
LT - hope the baby comes when you would like and that your sister stops being annoying
Does anyone know anything about National Insurance Credit for grandparents caring for a child? I know there was a big debate a few years ago about those looking after children needing CRB checks and stuff like that, but wondered if when my mum looks after my baby when I go back to work she could apply for the credits without me having to pay her or have it as a proper job??0 -
Well I've been for a follow up mot today (from last weeks) and everything is well. Baby has hardly stopped moving all week and today I got another trace (although they seemed to have misplaced it) on babies heartbeat and a scan. During the scan it turned it's head and looked as if it was looking right at us and then started opening and closing it's mouth.
Feel a lot better than last week, the depression seems to have lifted a lot, and after the midwife next week I'm to go back on 29th to see a consultant. Not sure why but they want me to.
Hope everyone else is feeling ok tooNo longer ...tobe! Married 20/06/13MFW 2021 #117 £5415.40/£6000MFW 2022 #77 £3740/£3000MFW 2023 #82 £0/£30000 -
Just wanted to pop by to say hi - I've not been here for ages, mainly due to starting a new job which really took it out of me.
Finished for mat leave now - yay!
I see I'm 3rd on the list - eeep!
Here's hoping for a bit of time before bubs arrives...Baby on board - EDD 29th Sept0 -
lemontree - what a cheeky mare your sister is. She should know better and I suppose that is the point.
MrsC so glad to hear you are feeling better and bub is all a-ok following checks :j
oooh lollypops I only have 3 days myself left!
tia - I don't know but there are grandparents websites that are probably very helpful. I have a vague memory that you have to give up some of your allowance and transfer it to them but this is a hazy memory. Maybe start a new thread as bet someone on here knows.
View - thanks for the advice. Explains a lot about how and why I sleep the way i do with the dream genii.
Alioops :rotfl: in sympathy re going to the loo. I also get those funny groin sensations. You describe them better than I can! And no, that's not petty about your workplace. My birthday was the only one that didn't card so was very pleased and touched they did mini baby shower.

Hi all
Enjoy the maternity leave lpw. Stock that freezer up, best thing I did
Glad all is well mrsC, I have an extra scan in a week.
I must say I have felt better. Still very sore but been to dr and he thinks it is a case of very severe thrush. I just hope I feel better soon as I am miserable
Have a nice weekend people x0 -
hope everyone who is feeling rough manages to have a nice relaxing weekend x
it was interesting for me to see the parallels between my birth story and SkintChick's experience, especially where the frequency of contractions is concerned. I think the best advice i can give is that if your body is telling you things are moving on quickly, take notice! if I'd waited until contractions were the standard 2-3 mins apart before calling I think we'd have been delivering Ben ourselves!
Ben had a lot of feeds last night, he seems very happy that my milk supply has started up. I had a midwife visit yesterday and my final anti-d injection, as Ben is rhesus positive. Off for our first trip out today for his day 3 weigh in, as they only offer them in the hospital at a weekend. sitting for long is still very uncomfortable (1st degree labia tear, ow) so hoping we won't be stuck on plastic waiting room chairs for too long!0 -
Mrs C glad all was well with the baby
Enjoy your maternity leave lollypop
Mr knight hope the pain has eased now
Bluebell gladBen is feeding well, hope the hospital didn't keep you waiting.
I know this has been discussed loads, but remind me please, at 26 weeks how active were your babies? I think I just have a lazy one, I can feel him move but he doesn't seem particularly active. He had one day last week of great activity and has now gone back to being quiet.
Also is anyone else going to the mothercare expectant parent events or have been before? I have signed up to go but its 2 hours and wondered just how much of that is just promoting their ranges. Really I am going because I want the goodie bag and also a discount voucher as i want to buy a new bra and some pyjamas! Not sure if I will find it boring though and it will be a late night for me and have antenatal class the next night.0 -
Tia - it's always a good question to ask so never apologise.
My movements were always 9-midnight up until 29 weeks. Assume this was because this was the only time in the day when I was lying, still and often having food/cold drink.
At 29 weeks, he turned into the samba king and he moves regularly through the day when I'm sitting as well as lying now.
If you have any concerns you can either contact the mw, attend A&E or start keeping a diary of your baby (as everyone is different due baby's temperment, placenta position etc). So I now know if there is less movement, I think what I was doing. If I have been on my feet since i last felt him, I grab a cold drink, lie on my left side and give him an hour or so. It doesn't normally take long for something to happen for him.
No never been to mothercare event. Saw one advertised the other day but seem to remember thinking it was not a good date for me. Would also be interested in any feedback from anyone?
My Primani is now selling nursing bras so going to give them a go as have a mothercare one, 2 Marks ones and going to need re-measuring at 38 weeks so might try them.Met DH to be 2010

ouch Freshstart, hope it was a one off!
MrsC - glad all ok with baby, sounds like they are keeping a close eye on you which is reassuring.
tia - like lilmiss says, never a silly question to ask! I think I started getting more movement around 22-24 weeks and then it steadily increased. It should increases more as the pg progresses, but any doubts, call your mw. I think the NHS website has some guidance, but ask your mw for a leaflet on it, I know I got one at some point.
Congats BlueBell, glad feeding is going well, but ouch for the tear. Is 1st degree the worst level?
Mr_Knight - hope you feel better soon, sounds like you are really suffering. hugs
lollypops - yeah for mat leave starting!
Lilmiss - yeah for mat leave almost starting!
Ali - are you getting an elective c-section, or do you hope to have a 'natural' birth? If you can't have gas and air what can you get? Hope your last week at work flies by!
LT - Hope baby is getting close to putting in an appearance! I sympathise re the sister, mine is two kids down and I was very kind to her when she was pg, always telling her she looked great and the like. Her comments to me have ranged from:
'I can't wait until you get fat'
'Wait until you can't wipe your own !!!!'
'have you got stretch marks yet?'
to the nugget of 'I hope your baby isn't a good sleeper so you'll know what I went through' - I don't understand why if you have been through something awful, you would wish it on anyone!!! Honestly, family, who would have them!! :rotfl:
Hi to everyone else and sorry if I've missed you!
AFM, growth scan on Thur went well, baby is back up to 33rd centile, so very pleased with that. Waited hours to see consultant, to basically be told everything is fine! We did briefly discuss induction, as we are IVF we are automatically booked in for induction around due date so I wanted more info on that. Back for another scan on 9th Oct, which seems like ages away, but will roll around fast no doubt!
Dr did advise not keeping back holidays and taking more time off now, so planning to use my holidays to reduce my working weeks. Only 5 weeks to go until mat leave and it can't come soon enough!
hope everyone else is having a good Monday! x0
