Hello, I am 24+2 so am moving up from the other thread. This is my first pregnancy and we tried for just under a year and then had a surprise when we'd decided to give ourselves a break.

I'm due on 29/12 and am Team Yellow. :)
  • Well Alice :)

Am Sat having a cup of tea in peace just got home after working last night (I do ad hoc maternity night nanny work) I had some sleep but once little one at school will grab couple hrs sleep then.

welcome Alice, feel free to add yourself and your details to the list of us on this thread.

freebiequennie hope you managed to get a couple of hours sleep today.

Mrs C, I often wake on my back, but thankfully never on my front, but I didn't usually sleep on my front before I became pregnant.

AFM - spent another night symptom spotting, was getting BH and twinges across my tummy which are probably due to still having a bit of a cough and because baby's head is partially engaged. Not long for me to go now which is probably why I'm getting paranoid about labour starting at the moment.

  • Hi alice31 and welcome. I've updated you into the list when I was doing some other amendments.

The list is getting shorted instead of longer, where is everyone?! Either that or we're coming to the end of the baby boom on MSE!!!

view, in a regular year, would the agency give you any paid annual leave? If so I'd expect you to accrue it on mat leave, but not otherwise. Worth asking them to confirm though.

Thanks Timeflies... that's the thing tho, it's not leave it's maternity pay.

As in I'm an agency worker who normally accrues holidays through the hours I work each week. As I've worked for the agency for over 26 weeks I am due the 90% of my average earnings for the first 6 weeks and then statutory for the 33 rest.

I really wouldn't have thought I would accrue holidays whilst I wasn't working - as in I'll receive stat pay but not normal hourly pay... however quite a few on here seem to think otherwise so I'm definitely going to conctact CAB to get the gist as my agency has been useless with just normal things let alone semi-complicated maternity pay stuff.

Thanks for advice all, will report back.

I ummed and ahhed over buying a dream genii and had heard not great things about it (especially for £50 new, I wouldn't really consider buying a pillow secondhand) in that it flattens very quickly and other things.. anyway, decided to go with a long booster pillow from Argos which seems to be doing the trick. Still wake up with dead legs every 45 to an hour which is annoying however I think that's more to do with getting used to the pillow... hoping just a phase!

There are lots of people in the under 12 week thread at the moment, so there's your baby boom! ;)

I'm 16+1 today, so not quite ready to move up here permanently yet, but I'm looking forward to the day I'm able to do so with this baby, since I didn't make it to 24 weeks with Dale.

  • Thanks for the replies ladies. I tried to sleep with a cushion against my back to stop me from rolling over but hubby whinged that it was pushing in to him so I stropped and threw it out of bed and the cushion I put between my legs didn't help at all really but I might have had it in the wrong position.

Also thanks MrsC now I don't feel so bad with being asleep on my right side either. It's true that our bodies will just do what is comfortable no matter the circumstances.

And a big thanks for also updating the list and when I saw it thought the same that it's rather small at the moment too, can't believe I'm 11th

I read somewhere Ali that it's ok to sleep on your right if you have something supporting bump, hence the wedge is great for it. The Dream Genii packet, if I remember rightly as I can't be bothered going upstairs to look(!), also says which way to have the cushion when asleep and the fact that the shorter right hand side supports you when on left to help stop rolling onto your back and supports bump when on your right.
No matter what our bodies will decide for us when asleep unless like me you are constantly waking up when you need to turn. The stomach thing isn't fun when it takes me by surprise though!

When I first joined the list it was up into the 30s, now barely in the 20s. Can't believe I'm not top 10 although I'm sure there will be a few after me that go before me!

Thanks for updating the list MrsC, but I'm at no. 10 now  Hope the others can pop over and let us know their news. Is it the FB group that you get all the info from?

Re sleeping, I have one pillow under my hip (a tip from the physio) and another one between my knees/under the bump. I don't always need this one though. Just normal pillows. Tried the 'V' shaped pillow my sis gave me, but its just not comfortable. Usually start on my right side, move to my left at some point and then also end up on my back, in between multiple trips to the toilet! I find my hips are getting really sore, so sometimes I prop my self up on pillows on my back. I'm not too worried about it really as I move about so much I'm not in one position for long.

Started NCT and have had three classes so far. Has been very helpful so far, just 5 couples and everyone seems nice. I like that you get to ask lots of questions about everything.

Sorry for lack of personals everyone, been a crazy week at work and it shows no sign of stopping! 32 week growth scan tomorrow, even though I'll be 33 weeks on Friday. Looking forward to seeing baby again and hoping s/he is still growing away quite happily.

Will up date more on Friday as I'm out the office all day tomorrow and our internet is down at home
