Creditcrunch congratulations on your baby boy, looking forward to finding out his name.
View thanks for your words too, made it a bit easier this morning going in.
Right well I'm back from my 3 hours at the hospital and the best bit was the scan lol. As soon as she put the wand on the start scanning my little girl yawned her head off, it was amazing and I can't wait to meet her now. In fact she yawned every time her face was scanned so she obviously wasn't impressed with her sleep being interrupted. The sonographer enjoyed it too. She's had excellent growth and everything is within 'normal' guidelines except she's got short legs so taking after me and a biggish head so taking after her dad :rotfl:.
The consultant was a waste of time as he didn't even know why he was seeing me, took a phone call during and said I'll be there straight away. He even said that I probably know more than they do and to just keep an eye on things - no sh*t Sherlock.
Diabetic Midwife after that and she was really nice. I'm going to be on diet controlled GD at first and if that doesn't work for me then they'll look at Metformin or insulin depending on which one I'm allowed to take due to my neurological condition. Essentially go back to slimming world basics with food and drink, I have to test my blood an hour after eating so 4 times a day and keep a record of my results and attend the diabetic clinic every Tuesday afternoon but ring my results in on a Monday. The annoying thing is that my blood sugar today was less than my fasting blood sugar before the GTT.
Anyway am upset but need to get over it as it's whats best for the baby and it's only for the next 12 weeks anyway. Stupid hormones making me cry lol.
Hope you're having a nice day ladies xxxDEBTS ARE BEING DEALT WITH AS BEST WE CAN:heart: Married my prince on 27/08/2011Baby Girl born 21/10/14:D:D:D:D

Oh Ali, I'm so sorry its upsetting you. Life is never easy!! Hopefully diet works for you and you sugars are stable enough to let you be relatively relaxed about it. If the results are better now then maybe you were borderline and it will be easier to manage than you expected.
Hard to accept though. It still feels like everyone else gets such easy pregnancies!
And doctors are so useless in my experience. I'm seeing another tomorrow, and guaranteed it will be anothet new junior doc. I'm going to be firm and make them let me see the proper lead consultant as I need to discuss some details that the junior guys just don't understand. Cancer related stuff that i want looked at while I am having the c-section, but they always dismiss my questions. I'm psyching myself up to be firm with them.0 -
Creditcrunch, Leo wouldnt latch on properly to start with either and would either cry or fall asleep and take himself off. I tried so many positions and loads of people helped me but I felt like it was just never going to happen. Then I routed a new position where I sit on the edge of a chair and lower the one leg for him to sit on and stick out my boobs like a page 3 model and he is getting better and better in this position. It's hard to maintain for a 30 minute plus feed but needs must! I think I need to find some less obvious positions for doing it in public maybe though haha, I would love to be able to do the cradle position.
AFM, Leo and I were readmitted last night because he had jaundice and lost more birth weight than they'd like. His levels have come down but he is still under the light. I think it's our problems with breastfeeding so hopefully now we've got a lot better at it so hopefully we'll clear the jaundice now.0 -
Hope Leo is ok cmace and the breast feeding will get easier have you tried rugby ball position personally I hated that position.0

it's ok to feel upset and it's definitely ok to cry about it ! Whatever makes you feel better. You're in good care and just remember to use the professionals for what they're there for. Thinking of you x
A few questions for everyone....
I know I sound obsessive however at 26+2 I still think I should be feeling more movement... is anyone else near this stage and doesn't feel much? I'm sure I feel something when I'm lying in bed on my side at night, however can never be sure. I've been to the hospital a few times thinking movement had ceased and found a healthy heart beat in the wee one and myself and my BP was fine....so I'm trying not to panic and just be Zen... how were you all at over 26? Conscious everyone is different...
Also have been really sick - but not the nauseous feeling of morning sickness, but more an upset lower abdomen - not stretching pains, more like you've eaten something that doesn't agree with you. The pain/feeling actually wakes me up a few times in the night. It's happened a few times, asked my GP at the antenatal clinic (I'm not able to describe it that well) and he said just ask other pregnant ladies/MW... has anyone felt anything like this before? I also find I don't feel that great after eating... I haven't had heartburn/stomach acid before.. is this what it feels like?0 -
I think the lower abdomen pain is stretching pain. And possibly a bit of constipation/digestive pain. I'm getting much more lower tummy pains as I get further along, especially at night when tossing and turning which makes me think it's a stretchy mechanical pain. And always improved after an, ahem, good trip to the bathroom. I don't think it is heartburn. Heartburn is in your throat/upper GI tract and is like acid.
After eating now I feel full and slightly uncomfortable, and I can't have to much in one go. The heartburn tends to show up later. I've been told that ice cream is good for heartburn - which promoted the comment the other day 'I know it looks like I'm eating ice cream from the container standing by the freezer, but really it's medicine'. My husband laughed!!
Re the movements - I think at that stage I wasn't getting much other than when I lay down and on the sides. If you don't get movements then lie down and focus (no Facebook etc on the phone!) and you'll probably notice the smaller movements. I've given up worrying too much about movement. I'm 32 weeks and I don't get much external visible kicks or anything so I think I've just got a slightly quieter baby. It's all about working out what is normal for you.
Although I admit to a little worry the other day, but I could feel him moving regularly enough, just not very strong. I'm seeing the doctors tomorrow so I'll ask them to make sure he's OK.0 -

Thanks T2D, it's just something unexpected and not having hubby here to share it with is hard. I did ring him when I got home but he was in the middle of a windy field so not the best talking conditions :rotfl:. I appreciate your support.
Doctors are ridiculous when it comes to something they don't know, surely they have access to google or better yet my condition is on the NHS website hows about you read it before calling me in. Get that aussie spirit out and fight for the lead consultant to see you especially if you're not getting anything from the junior doctors. At my last consultant appointment she discussed my case with the Senior Consultant to agree on a course of action. Might be worth saying that you're not going to leave the room until you or at least the person you're talking to has spoken to the lead consultant xxanytime lovely, giving/receiving support is what I think the aim of the thread is, alongside gathering info. I have been thinking of you and hoping you're ok. As they (whomever "they" is) ;-) say knowledge is a powerful thing and if you can garner info from professionals about how to manage you'll be fine in the long run. Keep the chin up my friend xx

Thank you again lovely lady

I would say that I'm feeling more definite movement now than 2 weeks ago (I'm 28 + 2 today) so would say that it does improve. With the position of the baby her head is to left and bum to the right so I tend to get great big lumps on either side now and also really tight sensations which is when she's turning etc. I tend to find that I notice movement a lot more when lay on my left side but also when on my back is the best time to watch the alien movements happening and hubby gets to feel her better too.

Can't say that I've experienced this but heartburn/reflux is more in the chest/throat area and believe me you would know if you have it as it's horrible. Could it be wind/constipation? Sorry I can't be much more help xxDEBTS ARE BEING DEALT WITH AS BEST WE CAN:heart: Married my prince on 27/08/2011Baby Girl born 21/10/14:D:D:D:D

Thanks both. I have felt stretching pains before, especially when I turn over in the middle of the night and it's like a red hot poker was injected into my side! Oh the joys ha ! I don't think it's stretching however...
Ok so probably not stomach acid then I'm thinking, don't have any throat or upper resp issues. This is more like, failing to find words, a chemical pain? An upset stomach that won't go away, enough to wake you up. A bad curry that causes horrible stomach pains/sickness in the middle of the night however doesn't require a trip to the loo to rectify and no nauseated feelings... it sounds very silly however your uterus cant leak, can it?
not to worry I will check with MW next time, just wanted to see if anyone else had similar... It's hard to explain :rotfl:
thanks, again, for feedback re movement ... I shall just remain calm and do the side/ice water thing perhaps.... maybe this is one lazy baby! :-)
Has anyone pretty much decided on a name for their wee one to be yet? We think we have - as in there is only one name (LOL!) that we can agree upon however will see what name 'fits' when she's here...0 -
view, re the movements I spoke to my midwife and she was saying there's not so much movement in the really hot weather as the baby gets hot and lazy as well. Maybe this is what is happening with your baby, but if you are worried then speak to your midwife.
we had good news today, had our 34 week scan and baby is head down - yay!!! first time ever and she's been read the riot act if she decides to move again. I've also finally been discharged from the diabetic and senior consultants, and passed to a more general consultant as they've finally admitted I'm 'normal' (not been said too often before). I've also got the paperwork and think I will be agreeing to join a national project that's going on at the moment regarding first time mum's over 35 years old. I'll get put in a random group where you're either induced at 39 weeks, or left to fester till the baby is ready. I have to admit I'm hoping for the 39 week group but it's all random, so I'm back to meet my new consultant in 2 weeks time and to sign the consent forms for the study once I've looked further into it. Oh and even better we had the clearest scan's ever and saw the baby's face it all her beautiful glory. Only shame is that OH wasn't there so he didn't get to see her so clearly.
sorry for the essay.0 -
:j cmace and credit crunch! :T
 alioops for tough times.
Hello to using BMI?! !!!!!!? My booking in BMI was 23 or 24 or something and it's around 26/27 now with a weight of gain of something like 8kg at 30+4 last week. Am no where near therefore the lower end of the weight gain recommendations. No one has weighed me since booking in at 7 weeks and I don't believe they plan to.
View - really no meaningful movements until over 29 weeks. Been a fiesta in there since for the last 2 weeks.
Lemontree - woo scans! Silver lining
