 View - nice to see you on here and there's now 3 aussies that can have nonsensical chats about bogans, spewing, thongs and icy poles :rotfl:
A big hello back and this above literally made me LOL! oooo couldn't you go a Coffee or Choc Chill in this heat! As long as you're not Dazza and Shazza playing Accadacca on the way to Maccas you'll be fine ;-)
Glad you're doing ok. Was thinking I hadn't seen you on here for a wee while. Sounds stressful re wedding - hate it if I don't know anyone at an event... you should tell your OH in no uncertain terms that there are nights where pals are welcome and nights where you need peace. Hope it all works out x
Thank you everyone else for the welcome, must admit I'm feeling pretty ok with being at the bottom of the list... I keep having EEEEEEK moments forgetting that I will actually need to give birth! Hope you're all doing well x0 -
Actually a question, what are you all planning to wear for the birth? I've heard some ladies just wear large shirts, however, I was thinking some sort of stretchy night dress that had buttons going down the front so that the babba can have skin to skin immediately without me having to lift my shirt or whatever all the way up. I know I probably won't care at the time(!) however just wondered what others were doing? I'll be taking fresh pj's in for afterwards if I'm staying in.0

Howdy any newcomers.
Just popping to offer hgs to those that need them. Having been a zen master of sticking to my hours last week I worked 6am to 7pm today :eek:only my own bad time management to blame. Must learn to say no.
6 full time weeks and 2 part time weeks left at work :T
I am home birthing with any luck in the pool. I have a tankini mat top reduced from m/c if that works out. Need to get a back up so will wait for mat leave.

Excited to hear news from skintchick soon!
Also mr mini me usually only parties between 9-midnight. Today he woke me at 4.45am (hence starting work at 6am as failed to fall back asleep) and he partied around 1pm, 5.50pm, 7pm, 8pm and now. Little scamp.Met DH to be 2010

Just popped on to see if skintchick has had her baby yet...exciting stuff!
Finally moved house after just over 5 months. I'm knackered and definitely over done it bit so glad to finally be in here and now we can make a start on the babies room. What is the deal with painting? Is it safe if I have the windows open? Maybe I could wear some kind of mask?0 -
I'm back! first up congratulations to Wangdoodle
And yes, I have a baby now!
Our son was born yesterday at 6.56pm on my living room floor, in the sac, after another quick labour. It felt a little like he got stuck during pushing - the MWs were looking to see if the cord was round his neck - but I think it was because my then I was lying on my side. I'd spent the whole labour stood up but at the end I was so tired I couldn;t stay that way, plus it made the pain incredibly intense.
I'll do a full birth story on the right thread another time, but basically, labour began Sunday, then stalled overnight, the began again at 5am and by 3pm I called my doula. She arrived at 4ish, and although the hospital had said I couldn;t have a midwife sent out till I was hvaing three contractions in 10 minutes, by 4.30 even though I wasn;t at that frequency I called up and lied, as I could tell it was really intense.
The main MW arrived at 5.45pm, and very soon after I went into transition, so once again I did the active labour without a MW (it's all over my notes thhat I go quick but they don;t seem to take notice). It looked like the second MW wouldn;t make it before baby, but she did, just.
First W brought gas and air but it doesn't work for me, and second MW had the injection so by the time it arrived it was too late to have it, so I basically did it without pain relief which was NOT good. It was very painful and very intense.
Cut a story short, our baby was born at 6.56pm, the sac burst as his head came out, our DD age 5 came and looked and told us the sex, then i fed him while lying down and again on the sofa, then birthed the placenta after about an hour.
The MWs left at 9pm and I had a shower and then went to bed. He slept all night and has been v sleepy all day today too, but should be more wakeful tomorrow as the first 24 hours seem to wear everyone out!
Sorry, that's turned into an essay!!
As for what to wear in labour, I wore a vest top and knee-length joggers, thens tripped the joggers off quite early so was in pants, then took pants off the actually birth and stripped the vest top off after birth so I could feed. Just wear something comfy that's easy to take off - you won't care what you look like! (you can get dressed afterwards for pictures suitable for sharing).
PS - we don;t have a name yet. Congratulations skintchick. I'm happy your little boy is safely here.
T2D, I'm sorry you've been having a hard time. I hope things get better soon.
My sister had her mastectomy yesterday and I'm happy to say she's home. I've not spoke to her yet but mum said she looks surprisingly well.
AFM, I had my booking in appointment with my new MW yesterday. It was a bit boring to go through everything yet again. She did tell me that the doctors do not like IVF pregnancies to go over their due as there's an ever-so-slightly higher risk. So if I go with their advice we've going to meet our baby in 10 weeks time - exciting.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120
