    You were up early Aqua!

Good luck skintchick, hope you are having baby cuddles soon.

Random tip of the day - remember that feeding your child beetroot gives them shocking pink poos. We usually only do it the night before DS is going to the childminders, so she has to deal with it ;)

I guess I should get dressed sometime soon, looks like it's going to be another hot day here today even though we had quite a bit of rain in the night.
  • Hello my lovelies

:T robots! Sorry if the birth was traumatic but glad your little one is here safe and sound and that at least something is being offered to you afterwards.

Re hair dye - I have had mine done once so far and another on 1/8 before the wedding where I meet DH's first wife  I seem to recall someone saying that unless you inject it straight in your veins it's not going to be at any level to hurt you or mini me.

Thanks for all the sympathy ladies. Having been all emotional early in the week, DH caught on that he really did need to man up for dinner, so I spent Wednesday and Thursday evenings lying quietly (banned myself off the internet - interesting but stimulating. I need quiet rest). My job is split over 3 parts so turned off busy bit of work's emails on Friday when I was working elsewhere which helped and the cancellation gods were with me. One person cancelled on Thursday and 2 on Friday so caught up with loads of paperwork on Friday plus left at 3pm (just over an hour early) and we went to my dad's for a BBQ so that was nice.

Looking busy again this week but am leaving work on time regardless of what needs doing and am taking a flexi day on Wednesday which I am looking forward to. I WILL get to my first lazy daisy on Monday (who was a poppet about my non attendance last Monday) and then the antenatal hydrotherapy on Tuesday.

    Skintchick - exciting times! :j

Alioops - would it work to have the normal physio or try to speak to one on the phone because sometimes other physio can transfer referrals internally to neuro physio? If they can do this it can be far more streamlined than going through the drs. Feel for you. How FRUSTRATING

Aqua - that's what I thought about pregnancy related sickness, but I've had a lovely HR letter telling me what the policy is. I know anyway as I had some planned surgery two years ago and because of that any sickness I had for 2 years caused me to keep having attendance sickness meetings. It really bugs me that it's the ones like me who hate being off sick who really care about having to attend these meetings, whilst it's those who would swing the lead that they're aiming to tackle but who don't really care.

looks like we've got another hot day here - I'm beginning to wonder if I can cope with this for a whole summer, how I would be in a working environment at the same time I just don't know.

Morninng ladies. I've got egg white mucus today so definitely my show starting. :D I know it can still be days or even weeks (and I do still need a few more days to get sorted and for DD's birthday on Tuesday) but I'm pretty sure that by next weekend I'll be very close indeed. I'm 38+5 today and DD came at 40+2 I think, we never really knew a date as I didn't have an LMP because she was conceived immediately after my first miscarriage with no period in between.

I'm now looking at my house wishing I'd had some nesting instinct before now! I still don;t really feel like doing anything.

Will keep you posted but I don;t expect anything to happen for a few days at leaast.

Exciting news skintchick. Hope it's sooner rather than later for you!

I've confused myself a bit and need your wisdom ladies! In my antenatal class yesterday they were talking about blood being taken from the umbilical cord to test the baby's blood group and a girl in my class said that she was rhesus negative and had to gave a jab at 28 weeks and will at 34 weeks and then need to test the baby's blood group. The rhesus negative bit rang a bell with me so I've checked my maternity notes today and I'm confused! My blood group is 'A Rh D Positive' and then it says 'Antibody screen: Negative'. What does this mean? Should I have had these jabs?

    http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Rhesus-disease/Pages/Introduction.aspx

On reading this it seems that you should be being offered injections, but I'm sure you would have been if you needed them, so it would be best to ask your midwife - you can text her today; her number will be on your notes.

It's to do with whether the baby is Rhesus positive and if it is then there's an issue - I don;t know about the cord blood bit to be honest.

The danger seems to come form a combination of things, from the link above it says Rhesus disease only happens when the mother has rhesus-negative blood (RhD negative) and the baby in her womb has rhesus-positive blood (RhD positive). The mother must have also been previously sensitised to RhD-positive blood.
So maybe you have not previously been sensitised (that could be the negative bit in your notes) so it's all fine for you.

I'd imagine that's what the antibody screen was. But do check woth your MW to reassure yourself.

Skintchick is correct, you won't need the jabs. They are only needed if the mother is Rh negative and the baby is or has the possibility of being Rh positive. If you're Rh positive, you're fine, no matter what Rh group the baby is.

Sorry, bit of a genetics geek peeking through. :o

Thanks both! I'll ask midwife at next appointment. I know I need the jab for rubella after birth so I'm sure if I needed these other jabs they would have noticed and done them.

Definitely no need for injections. Your blood group is A+ according to your notes, the antibody screen bit isn't important.

We have lots of blackcurrants, so about to set up some cassis for celebrating with after baby arrives :)

Speaking of jabs, does everyone get the whooping cough vaccine? I've heard of it around the place, but no mention by my MW or many doctors. Should I ask?
