I had a bad reaction to the tetanus jab when I was 16, so I've not had the whooping cough vaccine. It was offered at my 31 week appointment but after chatting to the midwife I decided not to go ahead. She said there's been no cases in our area anyway. She has offered to try and find out if it's possible to get a single whopping cough vaccine, but google suggests not.0

Good to know about the confirmation for the injections. DH and I are both A+ so assumed it was impossible but glad to hear about a bit of genetic geekdom.
I have got my first sober hen do this Friday! They have been engaged since April 11, starting planning the wedding but her family went nuclear (why are you getting married where you live, you should get married where you were born etc) so they delayed and then last month let us know that they are marrying on 20/9 this year! Obs we have no plans as I will be 37 weeks and at the start of mat leave! It will be a marquee in the garden but I have permission to use the house loos not just the portacabins. Get me! All been a bit last minute but very much her style and just so glad they have been able to find a way to get the wedding sorted.
I'm in agreement with the vaccination programme but like Emily Oyster it should be informed consent. I read the paper that caused all the MMR hoopla and was not convinced that the risk of death, dumb, blindness etc outweighed the unconvincing evidence of the paper that claimed it caused autism. V small numbers as I recall. Plus it's given at a time when children are usually diagnosed. Go figure.
Skintchick - am always so impressed by how in tune you are with your body and understanding what it's telling you :TMet DH to be 2010

Skintchick How exciting! Hope you get to meet you LO soon!
T2D I had my whooping cough at 28 weeks, had a slight worry about having it due to a previous reaction to a tetanus booster but went ahead on the GPs advice and it was fine. Although I was allergic to the plaster that she put on afterwards and I still have a red ring on my arm :rotfl:
I'm 30 weeks today...wow not long to go :j:j0 -

hi! *waves* she's 8 weeks today and doing brilliantly! she breastfeeds like a trooper and we're pretty much joined at the hip, I'm head over heels in love with her!
I'd love to post a photo of her but there's only an option to post it from a weblink, I can't work out how upload it from my laptop - she's absolutely beautifulRobotsinDisguse wrote: »Hello ladies, I'm just taking 2 minutes with both hands free (Woop!) to let you know the good news you'd either guessed or seen on fb.
I'm so sorry I haven't been in touch here b4 now, I just haven't found time! (I've had more to deal with after than hoped). Our baby girl, 7lb 13oz, arrived 22:50pm Thursday the 10th July. Her name is Elizabeth Gladys. It was a long labour & difficult birth but she's worth it
So she's a week old! I was in hospital 5 days, and will be having counselling about the delivery. But she was worth it
Orange also cut off my bb so that hasn't helped me post.
I hope all are well? I'll read back now.
Aw Robots I'm so pleased for you! :j:beer:
I told you she was a girl!!!what a beautiful name
sorry to hear that you had a difficult birth, I hope you're ok and enjoying your little Elizabeth xxxx0 -
Morning Ladies
Well back from my 25 week midwife appointment and finally got to hear her heartbeat, she definitely didn't like being poked with the doppler lol.
I'm measuring bang on for my dates so pleased with that.
Hubby was able to come with me so it was nice that we both got to have a listen although he wasn't too impressed with the midwife but neither was I, the other one is a lot more interested in what you have to say but I guess they have appointment times to keep too.
My next midwife appointment is in 3 weeks after I've had the GTT so they'll give me the results.
Anyway enough skiving as I should get to work (boo), stay cool ladies xDEBTS ARE BEING DEALT WITH AS BEST WE CAN:heart: Married my prince on 27/08/2011Baby Girl born 21/10/14:D:D:D:D

It's all gone quiet here, no more show happening so maybe it will be a bit longer yet.
I had a dream last night that I had the baby though, on my own, in a bath, and after it was born the baby turned into a pile of chocolate brownies!! :rotfl::cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I had a dream I had the baby last night too! Luckily he stayed as a baby this time cause in previous dreams he's turned into a kitten. But the best thing was he literally just slipped out into my hands, if only it was that easy!!0

Well I had my meeting today with my MW and a supervisor of midwives. They seem very concerned about my refusal to have VEs, and my wish not to have baby monitored every 15 minutes. They were here for an hour and I don;t think they were entirely happy when they left.
I agreed that they can ask me regularly re listening to baby's heart as long as they respect my right to say no. We discussed my touch aversion and reasons for not wanting VEs (bad previous experience and am a rape survivor) and they are only really concerned in case I don;t progress and they will then want to check my dilation. I was non-commital on that one as I don;t think it's an issue - I birth quickly!
They also rbought up the old chestnut of what if they don;t have staff to come out to me. Considering my hospital has just been rated inadequate for maternity care, I said that having to go in would be my worst case scenario, and while i don;t especially want to freebirth, I would definitely consider it in those circumstances, so they said if it came to that they'd jiggle things around to get me a room on the nice midwife-led unit instead of the main hospital wards.
It felt like hard work at times, and my husband was in the next room listening and commented afterwards that it had been a bit of a battle, but they are covering their !!!!!! just as much as I am wanting to stand my ground.
Ultimately I think it is all a bit of a non-starter as I will undoubtedly birth super-quick again and none of this will come up, but they are happier being covered by having had the conversation, and it was all amicable at least.
Now just to get DD's birthday celebrated tomorrow and I'm free to go into labour!!!

Hi everyone!
Not been posting for a wee while on here, not much to say really although I've been having the occasional lurk.
Congrats Robots!
Re vaccines, I'm having the whooping cough vaccine next week with nurse at my gp surgery and then have my 28 week midwife appt the next day (at 29 weeks as I need to fast for it and she didn't have any early appts this week).
I've got this major lonely maternity leave thing in my head and it's really stressing me out. When I get so stressed I don't want to eat and can't bring myself to eat and for 2 days I've been forcing myself to eat as I know I can't go without. Normally I'd have little bits for a few days then I eat like a horse for the next few days once I get over it! Anyway, tonight I made a pot of chicken rice soup and then sat and had 2 huge bowlfuls of it, sounds silly that the first thing I really wanted to eat was steaming hot soup whe it was 20+c out there but it worked. Still stressed out and crying with hubby and then with mum when she phoned, just wish I could tell them how I'm feeling though.
On a plus note, I don't really feel much movements during the day but since I've been lying in bed tonight I've been getting some huge knocks followed by rolls and it feels like it's turning round, hasn't felt like it's been growing much but obviously it has!

I've decided to do more research into the whooping cough vaccine and the effects. My cousin, born in the early 90s, was given the MMR vaccine before he was one year old. As a direct result of the vaccine, within 14 days, he had a grand mal seizure lasting approximately 40 minutes. Following that he continued to have more and still does. He is brain damaged, wheel-chair bound and more. So I have seen first hand the effects of when a vaccine does negatively affect a child and their family and it is devastating.
I am not anti-vaccine and neither is my family as there are risks from the virus. I think single vaccines should be available and I would be willing to pay for them - especially if the vaccine is live like the MMR. I also think the health professionals need to say what the potential side effects are, when I asked mine they said there was none but I decided to look it up and there are. Which makes me start to mistrust the advice they give. Even if the effects are mild people should be told, so if the patient does not feel lied to if they have a reaction.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120
