Oh meant to add - I am now up to date with inviting everyone to the Facebook group who has messaged me over the last couple of days. Sorry for taking so long! I can only do it from my PC, not ipad, and I have not been on for a couple of days.

One guy showed up in cream chinos as an evening guest at my wedding. He was suitably emabrasssd when he realised how formal it was. We just teased him!

I'm wearing a black velvet cocktail dress I've had for ages. Used to be slinky and flattering, but its soft and stretchy so still fine over the bump/fat. Its m&s but looks amazing! Always get compliments with it. Being tall is good for cocktail dresses.

Hubby has hired a suit. You'd think we never get out... Maybe a little overexcited. ;)

Enjoy the curry Daisie! And happy weekend to everyone.
  • Afternoon ladies,

Hope everybody slept better than I did! I think I'd have to call it 'resting' now as there's very little sleeping happening!

Ooh I do love a wedding T2D (although not married myself and no current intentions of marrying :rotfl:), hope you have a great time!

Mrc C one wedding I went to the bride disappeared shortly into the evening do and reappeared a few minutes later in jeans!

daisie hope the dizzyness eases, I'm guessing you're already drinking lots of fluid, as that's supposed to help. Also are you likely to be having a GTT? I only ask because I suffered from dizzyness which got worse around the 26 week mark (when GD kicks in/can be identified) and I thought nothing of it as dizzyness is common in pregnancy, but once I'd got my blood sugars under control it seemed to go again. At the clinic they were saying GD wouldn't cause dizzyness but another consultant diagreed. So if it carries on and you're not having a GTT, it might be worth asking for one as it was the only 'symptom' I had. (Not trying to scare you, it's just knowing the dangers of it going undetected I think they should test every pregnancy woman for it and looking back I'm sure my dizzyness was a symptom).
Hope you have a nice curry tonight and alovely time at the graduation and meal tomorrow.

No, hospital bag still not packed. I've decided baby isn't coming out anytime soon. Been to the supermarket this morning and not so much as a twinge wandering around! I'll probably pack it this weekend though (I recall saying that about 2 weeks ago), I've got the stuff, just got to put it together. I think most normal people have it packed by the 36 week mark at the latest. I'm just too laid back and OH knows what needs to go into it if it has to get packed in an emergency! As OH doesn't drive we have to wait for my mum to drive over if I go into labour to take us to hospital and collect DS so if needs be it can be packed while we're waiting for her.

WTDN - someone sent me a very comprehensive list that I posted a while back on the 12-24 thread. Might make you freak out but can have a look for the post number and page number if you like? Will be later as just checking out of the cottages we are staying in.

So v quick going to reply with big thanks later for thoughts on childcare and yes tcod I think you are right. I dont think they are keen and that is what worries me! This thread is so helpful for knowledge and seeing my own situation more clearly :T

That would be amazing thank you!

Daisie - re the dizzy spells I always struggle at the scans. I think all the pressing etc puts pressure on the wrong places and at my 20 week I nearly properly fainted.

If you are feeling faint lying down it might be because the baby is putting pressure on blood vessels. That's partially why they say to lie on your side - to make sure you are getting enough blood to your upper body. On my back I feel unwell pretty soon, and get a strong heartbeat OVER my bump which must be blood being redirected. It freaks me out so I move, and I can breathe better in that position too.

Also - water water water helps. Keeps your blood pressure from falling too much. How is your nausea and vomiting going these days?

I have packed a hospital bag, but only for me! I thought I might be going onto bedrest so I have all the basics in there, with a list of what to add at the last minute (ipad, crafty stuff, charger etc). I'll go and put that boots baby set in too. I'm an old hospital pro though, so I'm used to packing a last minute bag, it's just stuff for the baby I need to learn.

I was reading another website today about hospital bags for dads. They also need a change of clothes, toiletries, maybe a book or magazine, charger and phone/laptop to spread the word when necessary. Plus food - apparently dads don't get fed so they either end up stealing yours or going hungry. And a list of who to contact with baby news if you don't think they can be trusted to remember everyone!

Aqua yes I am having a GTT in a fortnight due to high BMI. Oh I am worried now! Really hope I don't have it :( would I have had sugar in my urine though if I did? I have had LOTS of urine tests recently with my frequent hospital visits and they are always clear.

I drink LOADS of water. In fact I am always complimented on my urine samples as they pretty much look like tap water as I am so well hydrated :o

t2d the dizziness on lying down is even when on my side (I am not lying on my back these days) which is really weird. I am thinking it may not actually be a pregnancy thing at all and may be more of an inner ear thing, which I have had before when not pregnant. Dr Google reckons that dizziness that occurs even when you are lying down is usually related to inner ear. I still have some of the medication that I take when I get it when not pregnant but I looked it up and of course it says not to take during pregnancy!

As for the nausea and vomiting, it is much better, but I am still vomiting quite frequently. It tends to be most days in the morning, and then once every fortnight or so I will have a bad day when it lasts the entire day. And occasionally I will have this weird thing where I will be eating a meal, suddenly half way through have to rush to be sick VERY suddenly, without actually feeling any nausea or anything, and then return, feeling fine, to finish the rest of my meal! This actually happened at lunchtime today :o my mum says this used to happen to her when pregnant and she had to eat her meals in two halves.

Oh, meant to add...I suspect if dizziness was related to GD then it would be to do with blood sugars etc so would have a connection with eating? Either having eaten or not having eaten? Mine is completely unrelated to whether I have or haven't eaten and much more related to motion (getting up, getting down, moving my head etc) so I am really hoping it is not a sign! Sorry, just desperate not to have GD!!

I've not finished my hospital bag yet either, but it's mostly there. I don't feel like mini is coming any time soon, although I'm getting a lot of BH, so I don't feel particularly pressured to get it done.

I'm surprised that don't do more routine testing for GD. Everyone gets tested here. It's weird how much antenatal care varies by region.

I didn't have sugar in my urine and was dizzy at random times but the dizzyness could be unrelated to my GD, it just happened more frequently around the time it was diagnosed - but that could also mean it's just something that increases in those weeks of pregnancy, GD or not.

Hope all goes well at your GTT when you have it. At least it's being checked. I didn't find the GTT too bad and I hate needles, although I was shocked that I had GD as I was fine in my first pregnancy and other than the dizzyness had felt well in this pregnancy. It's made me much healthier, so it's not all bad. I put on 4 and a half stone with DS (well it was 5 and half, as I lost 1 and half due to hyperemesis and then ended up 4 and half stone heavier than when I got pregnant), which I never lost after having him, hence my BMI of 39 at booking in this time (was under 30 when I got pregnant with DS) but I've managed to lose over a stone (8kg at last check which was 36+4) in this pregnancy so it's not all doom and gloom :)

I might even continue with the diabetic diet to shift a bit more baby weight after I've had her (after the initial chocolate and cake binge obviously :rotfl:), although it will be good not having to be as strict!
