    I've not finished my hospital bag yet either, but it's mostly there. I don't feel like mini is coming any time soon, although I'm getting a lot of BH, so I don't feel particularly pressured to get it done.

    I'm surprised that don't do more routine testing for GD. Everyone gets tested here. It's weird how much antenatal care varies by region.

    I agree it should be routine for all pregnant women, as one of the risks is stillbirth, the risk is much reduced for women who know they have GD and have it under control/monitored in labour. Also, my consultants told me it's nothing to do with BMI it's the placenta that causes it and plenty of 'skinny' (direct quote) women get it too.
    What's worrying is that my urine never showed excess gluscose so if it wasn't for the fact I have a high BMI I wouldn't have got a GTT in my area.

    gosh that is worrying isn't it! whereas I had glucose in my urine every visit for like 3 times but my GTT was fine! I think they should test everyone too.

    Lilmiss, I think the only thing which will work is some proper working from home, or part time weeks, the biggest problem is there's no one else there to do the work when I'm not so it would just sit there and the deadline would just tick by and get further behind.

    Hello ladies!

    I did the first half of my NCT course last night and today, was nice to meet other localish pregnant ladies and the lady who ran it was very open minded not pushy like some people think it might be!

    Anyway she told us about a theory that people who have shorter menstrual cycles tend to give birth earlier than people who have longer cycles, some of my cycles were 23 days whilst trying so I am now panicking I should pack my bag! :p

    Am also hoping its true though as once I hit 37 weeks I will be more than happy to meet her!

    Oh interesting, my cycles were 24/25 days...I've always had a feeling she was going to come early so maybe I should prepare myself!

    Ooh I do love a wedding T2D (although not married myself and no current intentions of marrying :rotfl:), hope you have a great time!

    Mrc C one wedding I went to the bride disappeared shortly into the evening do and reappeared a few minutes later in jeans!

    :eek::eek::eek:

    We got married at 11am, I had my dress on by 1015 and as ready to go itching yo get out while the others had their makeup finished! Took it off for a game of curling mid afternoon then it went back on til 7.30pm. Even then it was only so I could keep it clean for the blessing day when we got back home and I had another wee dress to put on. If we hadn't a second day it would have stayed til the wee small hours!

  • I'm with both of you monty and lemon- my cycles were between 28-68 days long... Maybe i'll be like an elephant and gestate for years! :o

    I didn't realise that some areas routinely tested everyone for GD. No one has mentioned it to me. My bmi was 30 at booking in but the pathetic urine samples I produce have never had glucose in. They have had ketones in a couple of times for which I get a stern talking to about eating but food (unless it's cake...) really isn't doing it for me at the moment!

    Felt a bit wobbly today whilst stuck in the hell hole that is the trafford centre. Really hot, clammy, irate and a bit out of myself iykwim. I don't know if it's because I haven't been somewhere that crowded in months (seriously- it was hellish, took me 45 minutes to get out of the car park due to people not being able to follow one way signs- was totally gridlocked... Grrr) or if it's becuase baby was moving really vigorously. Never really been able to notice it when walking but today it was either somersaulting (probably wishful thinking though am going to ask mil to complete breech watch checks...:) ), doing star jumps or wedging itself further into a lovely comfy breech position. I have no idea when it becomes more obvious what is where but I can't wait for that as not knowing does my head in!

    Thanks Daisie, had a bit of a fright at the hospital yesterday with a frank conversation with the scary reg who in a nutshell told me he thought I was destined for a c-section as baby needs to turn and will run of of room a lot sooner than if womb was normal. Said potential for breech birth but they're no longer as skilled at it as they don't do that many of them anymore. It really freaked me out. I've spent today doing a birth plan with the nhs one as a template and really thinking through what it is that frightens me so much and ways of regaining a sense of control. I'm beginning to think that i will go into hospital to have baby one way or another. If I aim for a home birth and get rushed in and end up with emergency section i'll be devastated. Whereas it's somehow different if I choose to start there and see how it goes. Obviously baby might turn- I really hope it does but i'm still thinking it would be more sensible to go into mlu... Think OH would be less likely to have a heart attack too! Nothing concrete but i feel a lot better than I did yesterday- with the exception of my shoulder which is absolutely killing! Am going to be as useful as a chocolate teapot in work on Monday at this rate!

    Hope your're all having a lovely evening! Jealous of those with a social life! :)
