    Morning all,

    Big congrats Crabapple :j

Sorry to hear you're still waiting Birdie :( Don't give up on your water birth yet. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Smartcat Hope you're holding up ok and get to know what you're doing soon. Really to good to hear that baby is ok though. Must have been a scary trip to hospital after the fall. Glad to hear hubby is being great :D

I've got a thin nightgown (though not dark) and a towel in my hospital bag.
Another thing I was recommended was a handheld fan and/or water spray to keep you cool. Massage oil? I've got some lavender oil to take in. Lavender, jasmine and clary sage are good for labour. Our nct teacher said even if you find you don't want a massage you can put it in some hot water and it will evaporate into the room which can be soothing.

faith its always worth a mention if you are concerned at all. Even just so they can put your mind at rest.

afm, I'm living in my one pair of good maternity jeans (the primark ones just didn't cut it unfortunately!) and maternity leggings, with dresses/jumpers over the top. Its actually quite refreshing to only have a small selection of things to choose from! Plus nothing needs ironing :D
Although I did iron all of OH work shirts at the weekend as he's now heading into a 8 days stretch. He's trying to get as much work in now, as I've managed to get him to agree to a week off around my due date, and to work 3 days a week in the lead up, afterwards. Luckily the places he works at regularly are pretty good about him having to cancel at short notice when baby decides to make an appearance.

I'm back at work today after having last week off ill. Struggled a bit on the drive in (an hour on the motorway is never good) and felt a bit sicky when I got here. Only 9 more days to go!!

Icey your bath trip sounds lovely.
Its OH birthday the week before due date, so I'd like to do a night or 2 away the week his bday. Just don't want to travel too far, bath might be a good option! Look forward to hearing how it went.
Sorry to hear about the car, these things happen at the most inconvenient times!

Icey, enjoy Bath. At 6 months pregnant the rooftop pool was such a treat that I didn't want to come out. The warmth and buoyancy was so relaxing and the first time my pelvis didn't ache, I wish I could go there now. If you can afford it I also highly recommend the pregnancy massage, it was bliss!

I think I'm having contractions! I'm hesitant to even write that as part of me doesn't believe it and another part knows it could all stop and still be weeks away. They're only 30 seconds long and nearly 10 mins apart. So what should I be doing??? I feel at a bit of a loss and don't want to tell anyone this early on.

    38 weeks today.

oooh exciting!! On one of our nct handouts it says to stay at home until:
    waters break, and/or
Strong contractions lasting 50 seconds, and/or
Strong contractions every 4 minutes, and/or
Unable to talk during a contraction

If you've got any of these then you should call your hospital/birthing centre. :D

Baby isn't even engaged! Also we're moving house next week, although better to begin labour now than as we're moving. I would call my midwife for a reassuring chat, but after 9.30am you leave a voicemail and they call you back the next day. :(

I'm going to take a couple of paracetamol and carry on with my plans today. I'll get dressed, pop to B&Q, check our deposit money is in one bank account, and maybe eat MacDonalds for lunch while watching Call the Midwife.

Sorry Crabapple I forgot to congratulate you. Congratulations! :T It sounds like your labour was fairly standard which sounds good. I'm getting more and more nervous about mine.

Midwife rang back and said they're Braxton Hicks. Feel a bit disappointed now. Would Braxton Hicks feel like a bad period cramp for 30s every 10 mins?

  • Have you had Braxton hicks prior to this? I've had BH for a good few weeks now but not regularly. I think if they were as often as yours I'd be thinking I was in labour too!! Just keep track of them and if they get stronger give the labour ward a call rather than your regular midwife x

Yeah when I've had BH they haven't come regularly.

Our nct teacher said best time to go to the hospital is when you've got 3 contractions within 10 minutes and lasting about 1 min. So pretty much what yours had said Sjlou.

That's annoying about your midwife & having to leave voice mails.

Do you have the triage/labour ward number for your hospital incase you need to speak to someone quicker next time? I'd call that if they get any worse.

I'd love To go to that pool but I'm too scared to go anywhere more than about an hour away. Especially when my mum told me last night she had bad back ache, no contractions and then felt my sister coming out! So not much warning but that hospital wouldn't lt her in as she wasn't having contractions just the ache so ended up with an unplanned home birth. My sister is younger though and I didn't come as quick as that, but my mum was also born very fast so it's made me wonder!
