Congratulations Crabapple! So pleased for you and that both of you are doing well. Not so pleased that I am moving up the list this quick though
Glad that people have mentioned the hair on their stomach. Mine are very light and I can only see them when the light is on them - looking down if you know what I mean. But was planning on trying to shave them off as had this strange thought that the MW would laugh at me.
I visited the birthing centre the other day and came home thinking I would like to try a water birth. But not sure that I would be comfortable wearing nothing. I was thinking maybe a bikini top or a comfort bra like sjlou mentioned.
I was going to ask the same question about photocopying the scan pic chelseablue, thanks for confirming its okay emz
AFM: Just as I started to wake up this morning, I moved my leg just a tiny bit and this shooting pain like I have never felt before shot up my hip and very bottom of my stomach (possibly - it was VERY low down) I lie on my left so thinking it may be a trapped nerve, but it nearly reduced me to tearsIt went off pretty quick and I was able to move round easily after a couple of minutes but it sure did scare me. Anyone else had this?
I'm seeing my MW today so wondering if I should mention it or whether I will sound silly even bringing it up. The baby has been moving round today and kicking/punching so I'm not overly concerned at the moment but it's still playing on my mind.
Hope everyone else is doing okay x0 -
Lush - it may be worth checking out somewhere like ASOS for some cheapish maternity wear whilst you'll still get your money's worth! Even some of my maternity clothes don't fit comfortable any more (mainly tops and trousers) so I'm really glad I bought some dresses, even though people were telling me not to buy too much as it would be a waste of money! Pah, it's alright for people who wear uniform to work or wear casual clothes all day but I had to be comfortable and smart at work which means I had to buy more clothes.
I could but probably won't, don't have much to be doing other than work and I'm just making my clothes last now. At home I'm living in old jumper dresses, leggings and 'fat' clothes which I don't mind really as I've been putting off getting rid of anything for over a year now (had just bagged/boxed it all up and left it at my parents to 'sort through' at a later date and conveniently forgotten about it!)
It's daft really but as I'm not going anywhere/doing much of anything until after the birth now I'm just going to push on through these next six weeks (less if she's early!)...that and I've just spent the last of my 'personal spends' budget for the month on some varnish and accessories for the gel manicure set bf got me for Christmas.
That said I've seen a nice dress on that website someone posted over the weekend... jo jo maman bebe is it? It's about £39.00 plus whatever postage is but it will be a nice post baby dress - smart casual-ish and baby friendly. Might treat myself...figure it will probably be ok for sometime post baby and at the tournament in May I'm going to sit behind the bench (at the last one I was on it still but not doing any of the physical work) with bubs so can afford to look a bit less practical hehe!************************************

Jojo clothes are lovely and some items are good for pre- and post-pregnancy. As an aside, I've got some Jojo pyjama bottoms which are like yoga pants and love them, so comfy and could pass as jogging bottoms (packed a pair in my hospital bag for my going home outfit!), the belly band can be folded down so you can wear them once bubs is here too.
I see what you're saying about making things last but I hate wearing the same things day in, day out. I feel cruddy enough without wearing things that don't make me feel 'kind of' nice!
Just got myself a bit upset because I realised that if I end up having to be induced then there's no chance of having a water birth.Hope he comes before we have to serve him an eviction notice!

Birdie we learnt about induction at nct and it won't necessarily mean you can't have a water birth and you won't always end up on a drip attached to monitors etc it will depend on what type of induction you have and whether it works or not/how many interventions end up being used.

Thanks for that Claire, I'll ask my MW tomorrow what the hospital's policy about birthing pools and inductions... not that I expect her to know since she's been pretty darn useless with everything else, bless her!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Wow congrats crabapple!!! He sounds like a cheeky one already, your excitement is making me excited to meet mine now
Faith I get that a lot when I'm moving around in bed, I find I'll move a certain way and get a real sharp pain suddenly, which then fades in a few seconds. I think it's all to do with your belly stretching and stuff, I wouldn't worry about it if baby is moving around ok and you're not in any pain anymore.
I'm practically living in two pairs of maternity jeans (one over the bump pair that is already getting too small), 3 maternity tops, and some jumper dresses! Mind you in my office we have quite a casual dress code so I can get away with wearing any of that. I then change into pjs as soon as I get home
Chelsea yeah i scanned my photos inI knew I would forget if I didn't straight away so I made sure it was the first thing I did after each scan!
Lushlifesaver thanks for asking about me, I'm doing a bit better, still on bedrest (sounds relaxing but not when OHs dad is downstairs on a day off with the tv blasting and going in and out the front door every 5 minutes), I got my meds on Friday in the end thankfully and I'll be taking them for 5 more days yet. Hoping to go back to work by Thursday but I'll see how I feel. Got to go to the physio tomorrow AM for my next appointment for my hip as well which will be fun with the major flooding having closed off half the roads between here and there and me not really supposed to drive
I've grown so much the last few days as well, and OH thought he felt baby's foot yesterday through my belly so he got really excited about that bless himone good thing that came out of being in hospital is the midwife had a good feel around and was able to tell us which way baby is lying so I can make her out now if I feel my belly sometimes
Samtoby how are you doing now?Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

Birdie I was told when I was induced that I could have a water birth as long as I didn't have to have my waters broken and I didn't have to have the hormone drip. Id it was just the pessary I could transfer to the pool as soon as I wanted toDon't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0

Morning girls! I hope you are all ok?
I managed to notice a chip in our car windscreen yesterday evening and now the faff of sorting it outAutowindscreens can't come out until Thursday at the earliest and DH refuses to drive the car in the meantime in case we crack the screen - that would see the insurance excess jump from £25 to £80
DH and I are off to Bath tomorrow overnight with my sister looking after Frogso we've arranged to hire a little car. DH has to take 2 buses and walk to collect this hire car
Looking forward to Bath though, we have evening tickets to the Thermae spa. I've even got a maternity swimsuit, it makes me look like a beached whale and I can't go in the steam room or sauna so will have to content myself with wallowing in the rooftop pool
Birdie, hate to worry you but I was induced with Frog and had to go on the labour suite, I wasn't allowed in the birthing centre, no water births etcWhether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -
we were told at our antenatal by the midwives in our area that if you are induced with pessary you can still have a water birth, it's only if it's the drip you can't... fingers crossed baby will make an appearance before then though Birdie!First date 10.2.2002
