Oooh lurking for samtoby's scan news... after my second episode of stressing out at the weekend I've got a scan booked for this Thursday to check growth, might see if they'll check my placenta while they are at it to see if it has moved, save me waiting for next week!
Glad to hear you're getting prepared there sophiasmum, do share any nice changing bags you see!!0 -
I treated myself to a Pink Lining changing bag, I love it and can't wait to use it0

ndg I got a phone call around November time from my GP's surgery telling me I was "eligible for a free flu jab" making it sound like I'd won the lottery or something lol! I declined as I've never had flu so didn't feel it was necessary, but I've never been told anything about whooping cough.
In any case I'm nearly done now so don't suppose it matters now anyway.
Samtoby I hope your growth scan went well!
ABL that's really awful about your friend, she must be devastated0 -
Good evening ladies,
I have been awol for a few days as I have seem to have been pretty busy. It pretty much started Friday when I seemed to be 'leaking'. Ended up changing my underwear 4 times!!! Rang the hospital and they asked me to come in to get checked out (9pm-ish). They took a urine sample and found protein in my wee, which is not only a sign of infection but also could be amniotic fluid apparently. They then did a speculum (sp?) and made me cough (tricky when your busy concentrating on the hurt and uncomfortableness of a speculum) to look for a pool of fluids. Luckily there was non. They ended up keeping me until 12.30 as they wanted to get a good reading on babies heart beat. Unfortunately she is at her most active at night which made getting a read incredibly tricky. Thankfully 3 hours later they managed to get a good amount of heart beat.
It was a bit of a pain going to hospital to get checked out but the positives are that they are testing yet more wee for a infection which I didnt realise I might have, we were able to explore the parking situation and it made me feel much better about having chosen that hospital to give birth in. All the midwives were lovely and put us both at ease straight away.
In other news the house is coming together nicely. Having sorted a load of stuff away and stored it into the garage we are now much more organised. The office/spare room is especially looking good due to the fact that we now have storage furniture in it!! I love it. I don't think I can actually stop looking at it lol.
Have also made my little lady a little dress with a matching sun hat out of some fabric that I have brought without a purpose for in the distant past. I have done other sewing projects such as quilts before but never clothes but I have to say it does look good, even if I do say so myself. I will put up a picture eventually when I work out how to do that lol.
Hope everyone had a lovely bank holiday weekend and enjoyed their easter eggs xxx0 -
Hey ladies.
Been for my scan was ages as I had a student again. Couldn't confirm sex again as she was laying with her legs clamped together.
Baby is fine, fluid levels are ok. Baby is measuring on the 75th percentile for length and abdominal measurement so is quite long. She was all scrunched up in the foetal position facing to my left. Her head is ready to exit!
Approx weight is now 6lb 10oz but she said they don't give you an idea of expected birth weight as it can vary so much. I know a few ladies got guesses on birth weight. I couldn't buy any pictures and tbh it was very misty anyway I think it's the sheer size.
Really good to see baby again, I left the Hospital feeling that I am ready to meet her, but I appreciate it could still be 6 weeks.
I am on my phone and shattered so will catch up with all the posts later on/ and birth announcements if there are any!

Me too Firey
the iron has been giving me horrible tummy cramps in the night. But it's so nice not to be feeling that weight of tiredness coming down like a mist. The midwife told me to eat kiwi and also said the liquid iron is easier to tolerate, so I might ask to switch to that at my appointment next week.
Congrats on your early arrival 1dayAAT!!!
VickyVicks - hope all is well with the fluid situation, I'm glad the midwives were nice and supportive.
Glad you had a good growth scan Samtoby:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -

My Granny made one for my mother when sister #2 was born, and I've inherited that - I really like it (I used it for Isaac, too).
My mother's also dug out all the baby clothes she stashed after Isaac grew out of them, and washed and ironed them all. Which is the last time they'll be ironed for some time to come, I'm sure! There's a really sweet cardigan that my great-grandmother knitted for me when my mother was pregnant with me, and I love the fact that he'll be wearing something his great-great-grandmother knitted, it seems really lovely....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Lara - Ive had to stop taking iron tablets as I was being sick each time I took one
Even if I took it just prior to going to bed. I can definitely feel overwhelming tiredness at times now - but also Im having problems sleeping in general (hence late post!) Anyway - Ive got the liquid iron, which I can tolerate - however apparently there are really low levels of iron in there......not enough to make a huge difference.
NDG - sounds like you have some lovely 'heirloom' clothing - oldest stuff Ive got only dates back 7 years to DD1 and I don't think much of that is suitable as I gave away a lot of stuff or used it with DD2 and then charity shopped it. There are a couple of cardigans there that my mum knitted as she thought nans really should produce some knitting!
SamToby - glad scan went well! 6lb 10 now??? That was the size of my DD2 at birth 3 days overdue...Have you got much of a bump???
VickyViks - Glad you are being looked after
Mary - not sure when is the latest you can have the whooping cough jab but you may want to look into it as its to give baby immunity when they are born. (rather than for your good iykwim) - think there was a bit of an epidemic.0 -
that's so strange sophiasmum isn't it, your body must have really not liked the tablets! I literally feel nothing when I take them - just down the hatch. definitely noticing the side effects now though. iv taken lactulose and the iron tablet today, not sure if they'll just cancel each other out!
working what's hopefully my last night shift for a long time tonight. really struggling with them now. all the bottom of my bump is sore and I can feel like pressure when I walk it feels heavy...I don't know if that means the baby is in a funny position? also for the last couple of days iv been so thirsty, iv drank a litre of water since I got to work at 10pm. thinking of making a doctors appointment tomorrow but I don't know if they'll just think I'm fussing over nothingpregnancy is a worrying time!
