has anybody else had their whooping cough injection? and at how many weeks? just been thinking about it this morning, the midwife hasn't mentioned it. I'm nearly 31 weeks. iv got an appointment on Friday though.

I haven't been told anything about this jab, are all pregnant women supposed to have it?! I didn't have any injections with my son either!

my appointments are fortnightly, they just seem to consist of me giving them a jar of wee, having my tummy patted and measured then sent away.

I had whooping cough jab at 28 weeks.... Midwife told me about it and then I booked an apt with the nurse at the health centre.

Mary - its not compulsory, but advised for pregnant women. May be worth giving your health centre a call? I got given a leaflet with all pros/cons.
  • Thank you everyone for the congratulations and for liking the name I picked out :)

As for my friend, sadly she lost her little man :'( just trying to support her now and I just wish this awful thing hadn't happened to her :(

this is a bit of a silly question but iv only had my own house for a year and I'm not very house trained :o

I was gonna wash some of baby's clothes today and hang them out to dry but what kind of wash do I do it on?! I don't really know how to use my washing machine properly (it came with the house) so I just wash everything on a fast wash! iv looked thinking there might be an option for delicates for the baby clothes but there isn't! also can I wash white and pink together or do whites have to be totally separate? argh! iv just got this vision of ruining all my brand new clothes! iv got some fairy non bio washing stuff and also fairy non bio fabric conditioner so I can use them can't i?

In pregnancy I washed them all with Fairy non-bio/Persil non-bio on the special 'baby cycle' (that takes about 2.5 hours ). Now she's here they get chucked in with mine on a fast wash, with normal biological powder and fabric conditioner and I wash mixed whites with whites too sometimes :D:rotfl:

It's recommended for all pregnant women, unless there are contra-indications. It was discussed with me at 24 weeks, but I didn't have it, as my uncle had epilepsy so it's contra-indicated for me.

What about 'flu jab, Mary? What that mentioned?

I have that at my appts, plus listening to the heartbeat.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.
  • I don't mind having my whooping cough jab I just wondered if I had to arrange it myself :) I'll ask the midwife on Friday.

Iv been taking iron tablets for 2 weeks now and have really noticed a difference in how much energy iv got, they have definitely worked. only thing is now they're making my other side effect of pregnancy come back - horrible constipation! (sorry for the tmi!) I don't know what's worse, being knackered all the time or this! arghhh.

I am sorry to hear about your friend. The miscarriage page on here has some excellent links for charities and people to talk to if she needs to.

hope your scan goes well SamToby....

Hm - hospital bag...may do it next week as I am getting a bit freaked that I had DD1 at 38 weeks.

Starting to get prepared (a little!) now - even though its still school hols here so Im busy! Been to see my friend this am and shes given me a gorgeous moses basket and sleeping bag, baby bath and pram (maxi cosi mura) including car seat. Really pleased :) Didn't want to go an spend on a pram as I know from past experience that Ill go out and buy a Maclaren type buggy within a couple of months! So as Ive now got this plus my bargain 99p moses basket stand from ebay - Im prob as prepared as Im going to be for the mo.
One thing on my shopping list for next week though is to order a nice changing bag..... I do like to have a nice bag!!
