I haven't posted for a while, sorry, but RobotsinDisguise prompted me to suggest Lazy Daisy classes. I found it hard to believe I was actually pregnant, and met a Lazy Daisy teacher, been going to her classes for 4 weeks and it's changed everything. The classes are mostly gentle movement to get baby in optimal fetal position, breathing techniques and positions for early and established labour, a chance to ask questions and meet other mums to be, and a relaxation segment to concentrate on baby. The idea is to prepare for an 'easy', positive birth.DH and I also did the couples workshop so he could learn how to participate and what to do to help me, since then he's been rubbing my back and talking to my tummy!! Worth a google search, it sounds quite hippyish, but apart from some cringy affirmations it's great! x
  • Thankyou Vseviour, that does sound really interesting actually. I am a bit of a hippy at heart!
Someone gave husband the Haynes Baby Manuel ( like the Car Manuel's), so he says he can learn everything he needs to from that. I respect his confidence (!), but that Daisy class sounds practical & hands on, so very useful :)

I've got us a place on the free NHS antenatal classes, yay! Husband isn't fussed either way between those and the NCT ones, so I won't waste the money on paying for him to be grumpy. He's already grumpy though as the NHS are during the day so he'll have to take leave, 3 days, 2 hrs each day... Kind of gauling to be honest as he several hours of worked Unpaid overtime of twice this week alone. The lady was nice and let me book for May as June (where I should be) wouldn't finish until 10 days before my EDD.

We ended up going to NCT ones because of the fact DH didn't want to take days from work. Plus we were able to go for just 2 Saturdays and get them done with in one go. I'm quite looking forward to hearing about what they have to say and to meet some other expectant couples. Think that as both me and DH are 27 there is a chance that we might be one of the youngest there though xx
  • That's funny Vic's, I'm worried at 33/34 we will be some of the oldest!

At least by going to the early NHS class we have time (maybe) to do something else if needed.

I will look into the Daisy ones more, a quick look indicated I'd have a 30 min drive.

We went to NCT classes last time, 6 weeks one eve per week. I'm sure they cover most things at either, but the NCT made me a couple of very good friends with babies the same age. That was worth more than the price of the course. I've heard similar from quite a few of my friends who did the same.
Humm, still last lol. It feels like I haven't got long to go, so seems so strange there are so many due before me!!
I'm off to the NCT sale tomorrow, must resist the temptation to replace anything g we have in blue with pink lol!
  • robots I can't believe they only have classes in the day, that's a but rubbish isn't it? I'm going to the NHS ones, they are once a week for a month 6.30-8. either that or I could have picked a Saturday/Sunday 2 day course.

When I went to the NHS ones in Islington / Camden with OH when I was pregnant with Isaac, we found we were out of sync with ages - we were 26 / 27, everyone else was either about 17 or over 40! Hardly anyone from ages about 22 to 38!
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.
  • Oh dear NeverDespair!

Firey - Humm, it's probably as I live in a v small market town.

I'll try ringing about the most local real town, where the hospital is, they might have other options... But then I wouldn't see the mums around where I live & husband is rarely out of work by 6.30. But I'll investigate, thanks ladies.

We went to nct as we could go to classes at the weekend. We found them really good and I've been meeting up with some of the girls while we're on maternity leave which is nice. I bought dh the commando dad baby training book which he is finding quite useful!

It's my due date today! But no sign of baby arriving yet :( It's probably a good thing though as we've just had the forms through for selling our flat and buying a house. My Lord they want to know everything! I want to do it all now as I think when the baby comes my head will turn to mush and I'll have other things on my mind...

Got my antenatal class today. It's an all day thing, 10am-4pm. I'm bringing my friend along but she's pregnant too (38 weeks also) and was in hospital with cramps yesterday so might not be able to come today. Hopefully I won't be going alone, will be horrible for me with all the happy couples! I texted my Auntie and asked her, so hopefully she can make it if my friend can't...
