    Hello Ladies,

Lush I cannot believe how busy you have been today!! Where do you get all of the energy from. Im having a sit down after cleaning, hoovering and mopping living/dining room. I'm still yet to start washing the pots and cleaning the kitchen. Feel like I could gladly go back to bed. Despite the fact had the best nights sleep last night for a long time.

I've been thinking about when my waters go (have a little bit of time left as I am 32 weeks). What about if they go when I am in bed? Is there a lot of liquid? Should I be looking at a waterproof mattress protector or something to be on the safe side? I just don't know what to expect I guess. x

You can buy these in boots

Ive put one on the bed underneath the fitted sheet.

You can also use them in the car on the way to the hospital. I was going to buy some then my friend from nct only used 2 out of 5 so gave me her pack!

Had a Drs appointment today, it was nice to hear the heartbeat on the doppler for the first time :) Can't believe it's still 14 weeks to go until my due date argh!
    .

How come you had to wait til 26 weeks to hear it? I know some areas dont do it at 16 but you would have thought you would have got it at 20 then? Thats a long time to make you wait!

Just had my midwife appointment. Sat looking at my notes with a cup of tea and now getting a little bit worried. I'm 32 weeks and she has measured my fundal height as 34cm!!! This sounds a lot to me (3cm in 10 days according to my notes). Does this mean I am going to have a bigger baby? I know my bump is a little bit bigger as I am only 4ft 11 anyway. However my DH is 6ft and all the babies in his family have been 9/10lb babies. Anyone have any experience with their previous babies? Anyone measuring bigger in their pregnancy? I don't know what I would do if I wasn't able to come on here to ask questions and ease worries. xxx

Really don't panic. I measured on dates until about 34 weeks last time, then shot ahead and was sent for a growth scan. They estimated his weight at term was going to be 11lb (!!!) which scared the living daylights out of me! When he was born at term plus a few days, he weighed 8lb bang on. Which is precisely average for a white male newborn baby.

Weight estimates are really difficult to get right from scans. Isaac was average weight, but long and skinny, which is where the estimate went wrong, they thought.

Like you, my DH is 6 ft 1, and as well, both our fathers topped 6 ft, I'm 5 ft 7, both our mothers are 5 ft 8. So having a tall baby didn't seem particularly unlikely (and he's now a tall skinny 8 year old, instead of a tall skinny baby).

I'm about the same as you now, due 14th May, and I've measured slightly under for dates until last Friday, when I was 2 inches over. I shall be unsurprrised if baby #2 turns out to be another long one.

It could also just be the way your baby's lying, if he's tucked up he'll measure less, or if stretched out, more.

PS - I'm almost sure that your fundal height was 34 inches, not 34 cm? 34cm sounds tiny, it's normally estimated to be roughly 1 inch per week once you get late on like we are now.

    Hi ladies,

I posted on the pregnancy threads for a bit when I was about 20 weeks but then got busy with life so have just been stalking without time to post!

Anyway, today is my first day of maternity leave (I'm 37+5) so I have lots of time on my hands! I've been up since 6.30 as I couldn't sleep, and we had decorators coming in at 7.30 so I knew I had to get up. Been out for a bit and now I'm back home with my feet up, but like lushlifesaver posted I feel like there's lots of jobs I should be doing before H gets home!

If I could be added to the list whenever it's next updated, due date is 2nd April and we're expecting a girl.

Eek! Hope no one minds a little one from the less than 12 weeks thread delurking for a second but I just wanted to say laura I am so excited to see you posting...I was wondering where you had gone! How lovely that you are having a girl :) I still think it would be lovely if she came in your wedding anniversary ;)

(In case anyone was wondering why I am acting like a weird stalker, I remember laura from the wedding planning boards last year - we got married at the same place)

Ok, re-lurking! Sorry to interrupt your thread :o

Its definitely cm not inches! 34 inches is nearly a meter!! Wouldnt want to be carrying about a bump that big!

Seriously though, it's only an estimate! A few of us have been measured too small, had growth scans and everything is normal sized. So dont worry vickyvics, if the midwife is concerned she'll send you for growth scan.

I'm just really surprised your midwife never listened to it before! Although now I think about it if she didn't do it at 16 weeks the next appt would be 25 weeks wouldn't it, just seems like such a long time! They don't turn the sound up here at the scans, only on my private scan. I find it odd some places don't listen at 16 weeks because my midwife told me she has never not found it then.

Neverdespairgirl are you having a baby brain moment? :) it's definitely cm not inches!

I haven't heard the heartbeats at any appointment, have seen them beating away on screen though. At my 36wk scan you could also see their stomachs contracting, apparently it's them practising using the muscles they'll need to breathe.
Lush - i'm very impressed with the amount you're doing! I'm being exceptionally lazy and leaving lots for the OH to do!
