  • Lush as the others have said you will know when it happens.
As for all the attention down there, you will probably be oblivious as you will be panting/pushing etc. I had a retained placenta and ended up in theatre, but to make you giggle there were clamps etc in my foof and i jingled.when they moved the trolley. Then I was given the epidural and my legs put in stirrups and when i looked up the dr was dressed like flashdance, think long gloves and welding mask and qin she went and tugged out my placenta, and by this time i was laughing at the whole episode. What i am saying is the result ( baby) outweigh any embarrassment and tbh they have seen it all before .
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

Thanks for all the kind words everyone - I'm looking forward to getting it all over and done with because I know we get to bring her home at the end, also think I'm nervous at not being nervous ... if that makes sense?

I need to work on my attitude towards myself too; I'm on leave and people keep saying I should be relaxing then in the next breath joking about the little jobs I could be doing and then telling me off when I do the jobs around the house! I swear it's giving me a complex! Take today; I got up and dressed when bf went to work, ate breakfast and did all the washing up, washed all of bfs laundry from the tournament, straightened up, took in two deliveries and I've done all the ironing (for the first time in months! I've been doing just the odd item as/when needed)! And yet I'm thinking about what else needs to be done before bf comes home/mil comes round :-/

    Hello Ladies,

Lush I cannot believe how busy you have been today!! Where do you get all of the energy from. Im having a sit down after cleaning, hoovering and mopping living/dining room. I'm still yet to start washing the pots and cleaning the kitchen. Feel like I could gladly go back to bed. Despite the fact had the best nights sleep last night for a long time.

I've been thinking about when my waters go (have a little bit of time left as I am 32 weeks). What about if they go when I am in bed? Is there a lot of liquid? Should I be looking at a waterproof mattress protector or something to be on the safe side? I just don't know what to expect I guess. x

Aww Squirrel, those sound like good signs! You never know how quickly things will happen :)

Lush - you should make a list of nice things you'd like to do for yourself and mix those in with the chores. When I was off in January it was heaven to just dedicate half a day to reading a good novel, and even small treats like going out for a posh sandwich lunch at the local cafe were really restorative.

Had a Drs appointment today, it was nice to hear the heartbeat on the doppler for the first time :) Can't believe it's still 14 weeks to go until my due date argh!

Some friends are moving house so they gave us some brill baby things on the weekend, a huge bag of clothes and a fab bouncy chair with a sweet owl on it. It makes me weirdly happy to be getting all the tiny things ready.

    Have a nice day, ladies.

My waters went when I was sat on a bed - it was a little puddle that gushed when I stood up - I wasn't sure it was my waters when it first went - but there was a really odd pop noise lol :)

    Hi ladies,

I posted on the pregnancy threads for a bit when I was about 20 weeks but then got busy with life so have just been stalking without time to post!

Anyway, today is my first day of maternity leave (I'm 37+5) so I have lots of time on my hands! I've been up since 6.30 as I couldn't sleep, and we had decorators coming in at 7.30 so I knew I had to get up. Been out for a bit and now I'm back home with my feet up, but like lushlifesaver posted I feel like there's lots of jobs I should be doing before H gets home!

If I could be added to the list whenever it's next updated, due date is 2nd April and we're expecting a girl.

Just had my midwife appointment. Sat looking at my notes with a cup of tea and now getting a little bit worried. I'm 32 weeks and she has measured my fundal height as 34cm!!! This sounds a lot to me (3cm in 10 days according to my notes). Does this mean I am going to have a bigger baby? I know my bump is a little bit bigger as I am only 4ft 11 anyway. However my DH is 6ft and all the babies in his family have been 9/10lb babies. Anyone have any experience with their previous babies? Anyone measuring bigger in their pregnancy? I don't know what I would do if I wasn't able to come on here to ask questions and ease worries. xxx

Hi all, just posting a quick message to let you ladies know (I'm hope some of you ladies will remember me! I had 2 MC's last year in a row which knocked me for 6).

Anyway, happy to report I'm have fianlly made it to 13+4 and had a scan last week showing everything was looking good. :j

I'm cautiously optimistic because of my previous MCs but really happy and just wanted to share with you all.

Hope you all are well and enjoying your bumps.

    Gops xx

Four boldies and CupOfTea due today!

If you all give birth that puts me at number three! :-)

Went to bed at 9.30 last night; made sure to go to the toilet last thing hoping to sleep through...no such luck I was up once and back to bed, then up a second time so I thought I'd check the time...00.47! Sometimes I am glad we don't have a clock in the bedroom as it would drive me crackers every time I was up. Suppose you can't win tough as at least it was early enough for me to go back to sleep until bf's alarm at 6.20 whereas if I'd looked and it was 4 or 5am I'd have been frustrated.

After a lazy weekend bump was having a party when bf got back yesterday :-) sweet but after a while it just gets awkward haha. After the last mw appointment bf keeps asking if I've had my show yet which is just plain awkward too!

Have to say now that I can say she is due in the next ten days the bit I am nervous about is not recognising the move from aches in my lower back etc (think thats my braxton hicks) to 'real' labour pains and also my waters breaking. Probably the two things I shouldn't worry about as I'm sure I'll know when the pains change and there's nothing I can do about my waters and when they go! Oh still not looking forward to people looking at my business either...maybe birth will make me less shy/reserved haha

I loose count of the number of times Im up at night now. Its generally 2/3 times to go to the loo and like you, its often not that long after Ive got in bed, and then again Id guess at maybe 2am and then again at around 5 or 6. I could deal with that but what really gets to me is that the hip pain or needing to pee wakes me up, so I need to roll over or get up, but its just becoming agony now with the pelvic pain, its just so painful.

My DH has seen it all now, with my miscarriage, hospital operation for that, (that was fun waking up with a massive sanitary towel on but no knickers which Im not sure how they think you are supposed to like move anywhere after that? I had to hold onto DH, and shuffle along to the loo to sort myself out, with my legs crossed so it didnt fall down! and he was like 'whats that sticking up under the sheet'? then 'why are you walking so slowly'? When we got in the toilet I was like THIS is why! keep your voice down!' Glad I can smile about that now.

And then this time with the bleeding. When they did an internal on me the first time for that, I got him to leave the room as bizarrely felt a bit embarrassed but the second time I was like whatever, theres already another 3 people in the room and one is a male dr staring at me with a torch light shining up there he may as well stay! He doesnt bat an eyelid anyway and it was really weird that I felt like that really now that I think about it, as Im normally not embarrassed about anything at all around him and would much rather it was him than anyone else!

I can tell when I get a BH because normally its only the right hand side of my stomach that is hard as thats where the baby sits, but when I get a BH its like the whole thing goes hard including the left and it can feel a bit achy. Im assuming when its a real contraction its going to look the same but feel a whole lot worse!? !

Don't worry Lush, you'll know! ;) Don't worry too much about people getting a look at your lady parts either, the midwives will make you feel at ease and once you've had a couple of examinations you'll stop caring about it, especially as the contractions get stronger as each time someone pokes around down there it means the baby's getting closer! I had some bleeding after giving birth and there was a room full of people having a good look and a MW with her hand up my hoo-hah for about 10 minutes holding onto my uterus and I really didn't care! :p

Oh goodness a whole hand that is a bit scary!

one thing I do think, is that my bump is so big now, atleast you cant see down there anymore! :rotfl:

Its weird but Im hoping the baby comes before my 40 week appt because I dont want to have a stretch and sweep.

I think its because Ive seen my midwife so many times now, that I feel like it would be a friend looking up there if you see what I mean? Its ok if its a dr I havent seen before. And I even got over it before being a man because I was just so worried about the baby I didnt care.
