Becca, following on from the PAYD query, could you suggest to the PAYD the feasability of having a online faclity to PAYD customers. In other words, the same way as I log on to my online banking and credit card accounts and see a completely up to date position of money coming and going out, could we not have a similar real time facility where we could view statements etc? Just a thought, but I beleive this is the way forward.

  • Tom_Jones - see your post!!!
  • Hello Becca - on the question of the changes to the "with profits" funds, I understand that it is still early days to be talking about the final details. However, is there any word yet on whether any potential payout to policy holders will be -

    1) Taxable?

    2) a fixed sum per policy/policy holder or based on the sum assured or on the sum assured plus any already accrued annual bonuses?

Our policy is due to mature at the end of 2008 to pay off part of our mortgage so hopefully the previously announced timetable is looking OK?

Quite a few questions here but any advice would be welcome!

I will answer this as its NUL&P and not general.

It is expected to be paid as a special bonus into plan and therefore subject to the taxation of the investment you are in. Most of these will be life and pension plans so either tax free or tax paid with no further liability (although life funds could give raise to an increased taxation for higher rate taxpayers if there is a chargeable event.

The amounts and how they will be worked out are still not known but it is anticipated that it will be percentage based.

Last notification to IFAs showed no change on timetable although it was acknowledged that there were some objections and issues to overcome.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.
