Hi Becca,welcome to MSE
Can you tell me what progress,if any,is being made with regards to the "orphan`s assetts" and a possible pay out to certain life fund policy holders, mainly CGNU.
Can we expect a lump sum payment in the near furure or is this going to drag on indefinitely.
Has NU and Clare Spottiswood made any progress?0 -
Welcome, it will be good to have you hereAlways on the hunt for a bargain0

Hi Alared
Thanks for the welcome. I believe decisions are in the process of being made as to which policyholders are to recieve the payment, then amounts will be decided, as far as I am aware the payments are to be made in 2008.
I'm sorry its not more specific but I am in general insurance rather than life and pensions, but I shall do my best to get a more formalised update for you!!

Hi Becca,
I work for a broker which has a large guest house/bed & breakfast scheme underwritten by Norwich Union and therefore have a considerable number of claims.
One of the major problems we have when we contact the claims department is that the handlers can't find the manual claim file and therefore don't have the full information to hand. Therefore my question is why haven't/won't Norwich Union invested in a computer based filing system which would speed things up considerably and the handlers would have the information to hand when the broker or client contacts them?0 -
Hello
A really valid point I think, as far as I am aware for domestic claims we certainly have a computerised system, but I'll be totally honest I don't actually know what sort of system we have for all policies.
I'm happy to look into this deeper when I'm back in the office on monday if you'll leave it with me?!
Good weekends all

easynotec3 - from my days at RSA (and Royal before that) some of the schemes had to be handled separately due to the way they were set up, e.g. delegated authority schemes or borderaux files.
Having said that, we did manage to fully computerise all the building society policies (household) on the claims imaging systems introduced in the early 90's. Building society = one single policy with everyone insured under it, identified by mortgage roll number IIRC.0 -
Hello Becca and welcome :-)When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0

Hi Becca and welcome. Just to say "hurrah" for NU's PAYD car insurance. It has cut my premiums down to an unbelieveable level and all my friends comment on the excellent SatNav and Safe Speed systems.
