Hi Beccus,
What's NU's view on the hardening market & NU is one of the drivers of this. The market is still extremely soft & competition fierce especially from the "direct" insurers ?
PS - I'm commercial as opposed to personal lines0 -
easynotec3 - from my days at RSA (and Royal before that) some of the schemes had to be handled separately due to the way they were set up, e.g. delegated authority schemes or borderaux files.
Having said that, we did manage to fully computerise all the building society policies (household) on the claims imaging systems introduced in the early 90's. Building society = one single policy with everyone insured under it, identified by mortgage roll number IIRC.
Mattymoo
Valid points as ours is a bordereaux scheme where we have delegated authority for issuing all quotations, renewals and documents from our office and there is a common policy number for all policyholders.
However, as i'm sure you're aware, all claims have a unique claim reference attached to them and this would be a simple way of identifying them on a computer based system0 -
Hi becca,
For more info, ours is a commercial scheme with claims handled in Southend0 -

Oooh Trojan! You've stumped me!!
Sorry I missed your question earlier, hands up I really don't know the answer to this... I can try and investigate if that helps

trojan1965 - where are you seeing a hardening market. We're still waiting for this in commercial MD/BI and Liability covers. Are you in commercial motor fleet?0

Not so much a question as feedback for you.................
We had car insurance with you for many years and found you good and competitive, but no longer.
We used to have 3 cars insured with you, now we have none.
First car went as you were not competitive either on cover or premium and would not let us have the premiun you yourselves were offering on-line.
Second car went as when we changed cars you wanted way too much for the new car.
Third car went as when we wanted to put our daughter on (age 22 but had been on the above policy as named driver since age 17) You wanted almost £100 extra for 3 months and would not confirm if that would mean £400 extra for a full year.
We cancelled and went elsewhere and still saved money despite your punitive cancellation fee.
We also enquired about giving her this car to insure in her own name and getting a starter discount from you as she had been a named driver for 5 years (and no claims) but you wanted a silly amount (about £1600 if I remember correctly). This is actually what we did in the end, she now has her own policy elsewhere for £720.0 -
Hi Beccus - I wonder if you could give us any statistics on PPI - especially concerning succesfull claims - LOL ie are there any. In common with a lot of people I have issues surrounding this.
Many thanks for any help you are able to give.0 -

Similar story to mine I'm afraid.
My younger son had car insurance with NU from age 17. The only strange thing I found at the time was that they did not see a pass on the Institute of Advanced Motorists test as better than Pass Plus.
However he moved away last September when he found his renewal quote even with an extra year's NCB was much higher than the year before. Even an online quote was no cheaper.(which it usually was).
Ended up with insurance elsewhere for nearly £400 cheaper.0
