I can't stop eating! I'm just always hungry! At my weigh in last week (I do Slimming World and still go to meetings as I'm the scales lady) I had gained 8lbs but wouldn't surprise me if this week I've gained another couple.

Managed to get some bottles today in the Asda baby event. 6 of the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature for £10 which seemed good as in Mothercare they were 3 for £14. Think we've decided on a buggy too although we won't be buying it until we've moved. We are thinking the Oyster Max. Annoyingly it seemed to be the only one that Mothercare didn't have a demo model of!

I bought that bottle set too, the nipple coloured teat did freak me out a little!

Has anyone seen the cossato giggle go lightly? It's the navy and white striped with a red bow. I love it but do you think the bow makes it just for a girl? We're not finding out the sex but I love the pram!

delurking to say I'm afraid id definitely see that as a bit of a girks pram, it's the red bow and polka dot inside I think that doesn't help it! it's so pretty though! although my friend had it and the white stripes got dirty very easily and even when she washed it, it never seemed to go back quite white and nice as it was originally which is a shame.

Didn't think of that. I am convinced I'm having a girl but knowing my luck it'll be a boy! A showroom near me are selling the whole travel system inc car seat for £200 ex display which is why I was tempted.wondering if I could change the colour of the bow!
  • I'm with FF agree it's quite feminine think it's the red bow for me as well sorry. It is super cute though!!

Funny I'm convinced I'm having a boy although hubby's family think its a girl!

Have been feeling what I think is movement for the last couple of weeks but this morning I had what felt like an eye twitch in my tummy twice. Convinced it was a kick!!

  • Slightly different topic but has anyone looked into child benefit given the earnings threshold? I'm a bit confused...

Gov.uk site told me based on hubby's earnings we'd get £533 child benefit for the year and have to pay £223 tax on that. I thought CB was £40 per week so do they reduce payment based on earnings plus make you pay tax? Bit confused, may be we don't claim but then some websites say it helps with NI credits etc whilst I'm off and a bit extra when I'm on mat leave would be helpful even if it's £5 a week I guess.

Anyone managed to work it out?

Have you used the benefits checker https://www.entitledto.co.uk? It's much more accurate than the gov website.

Child benefit is £20.50 a week not £40. If your oh earns more than £50k a year then you will be taxed on it.

The tax charge is 1% of the Child Benefit received for every £100 that your individual income is over £50,000.
You’ll never pay more than the amount of Child Benefit you’ve received for a tax year.

So for example child benefit at £20.50 a week - £1060 per year.
For every £100 over the £50k your oh earns you will pay £10.66 in tax

If your oh earns £60k or more there is no point in claiming you should opt out to still receive national insurance credits.

National insurance credits can be given when claiming maternity pay or statutory maternity pay if your other income for the year won't take you to the qualifying amount for the year. It's also given when claiming child benefit automatically but again high earners may wish to opt out. You can call hmrc about national insurance on the following number

  • Thanks Monty will try the other website you've quoted and see what that gives me.

Your explanation is clearer to me than the one on the gov.uk site...!

I love the cosatto giggle Monty-Doggy we bought it in bizzy betty and it is absolutely beautiful and so light and manouverable I can't wait to use it. I think I agree with the others though that the go-lightly design is more for girls than boys but it is a good buy for that price!
