Try not to worry daisiegg as their movements are very inconsistent at first while you can only feel them as "flutters" it all depends on where they are and what they are doing etc. Also depending on where your placenta is you may not be able to feel them at all if/when they are behind it.

I could easily go a few days without feeling her move when I first felt mine as they are still so tiny! Also if you've been busy and moving around you may just not have noticed the movements x

I have my 16 week mw appt (though I will be over 17 weeks) on Friday so I guess I can ask about it then. Then have a private gender scan booked the week after so I suppose if anything has gone wrong we would see then :(
  • Thanks purcy. Had a quick look - seems good!

Daisiegg - hopefully someone who has felt movements will know better but I suppose it is possible that baby was in one position so you could feel movement but has now moved elsewhere (small enough to do so?) Or you are asleep when they are moving? Or it was gas all along? You're a first timer aren't you? Don't we get this wrong a lot?

I'm sure bubs is fine daisiegg but they do like to scare us! It's hard not to worry but they're so small it's easy to miss their movements x

Has anyone had a freak out yet? I had blind panic this morning about what you do with a baby. When do they go in a grow bag, how old are they when they go in a cot, how you bath them etc. Sounds so stupid but looking after my niece and nephews very different to having your own.

    Hope everyone's well x

I know what you mean. DH asked me today why we needed a moses basket and a cot, and I had no idea! Is it because you can move it around? And also, for example, if you look at this travel system: Tango it seems to include something that looks like a moses basket (ie a movable sleeping device) but is that enough?

And what do newborns wear? I see people talking about sleepsuits and vests. Is that all they wear? God... so much to learn.

I'm waiting til 20 weeks before I buy anything though! Although I have another quick cervical length scan next week which will be reassuring hopefully. They give me a quick look at the baby then go back to telling me about the cervix - which I completely ignore while trying to get another glimpse of the baby!

We know the sex though, so we are making some progress on names. To my surprise we have already found a few we like, with no argument, which is a good start.

Think the 16 week is also for listening to the heartbeat?

Thanks purcy. Knew someone would know the answer! It reminds when I was terrified by cramping earlier on. There are so many symptoms to fear and then a lack of symptoms to fear I am getting quite worn out by it all. I never figured pg was a picnic but it's harder than I anticipated.

I had a few days at 18 weeks when I felt nothing!

TMI but when I first felt movements I could feel them more when I needed a poo so she obviously liked being near my bowel!

I got so worried that I ordered a doppler asap off amazon but its still very early so it could be perfectly normal though not to feel anything. Ring the midwife if you are really worried though.

They say to lie down on your left hand side and drink a sugary drink which can wake baby up.

I think mine was just having a growth spurt when it happened to me.
Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month

The Emma's diary website has a helpful suggested list to buy for a newborn - sure there are plenty others too.

We are thinking we can put the baby in the carrycot initially and then move tocot so no moses basket. Does anyone know differently?

I have bought some vest and sleepsuits and am leaving it at that for now.

Good luck with the 20 week scan! My family are convinced I am team blue. I have no idea. I mentioned our 2 favourite names to my mother who has now told everyone and keeps saying them ALL the time and now I have gone off them  Lesson learned: don't trust mother

The problem is there is always something new to worry about! I can only imagine it gets even worse once they're born lol

My current worry is how absolutely ginormous I am! Also little miss still has days when she's quieter than others just to make me fretful! Then she'll do her latest trick all of a sudden which is to kick down somewhere that gives me the same feeling inside as when you bang your funny bone just to remind me she's there

My family and friends have had the baby in their room for the first 6 months so a Moses basket is the right size. Then when they grow out of the Moses basket and move into their own room they go into a cot/cot bed.

I've been told babies can sleep in an Uppababy travel system carrycot as "The carrycot is suitable from birth and can be used for overnight sleeping as it has a ventilated base and breathable mattress cover". So you'll need to check the travel system you want.

When my DSis had her first she was always dressed in pretty dresses. By the time the other 2 came they lived in sleep suits unless they went out.
