12-24 weeks pregnant (part 3)

  • All to do with budgets and different health authorities....triple test can be done (from memory as I declined on this pregnancy) from 15-17ish weeks. Nuchal test which is tbe scan and blood test gets done nearer 12 weeks. Read up about it as results for triple test depend on many factors, I ended up having a bigh risk on my last pregnancy, long story but I declined the test this time. Things could have changed tbough - hopefully for the better!
  • I've no idea to be honest. That is very different to how things are done here in the midlands, and also different to what I've read on most of the internet.
My test was called Quadruple Test I think, as 3 bloods and one visual.
Do you have your 12wk scan sheet? That's when they did my Nuchal test, with the measurement recorded on it.

Maybe search or ask on mums net or netmumns as there's many more people there? Sorry hun.

  • Oh and to complicate things further some authorities offer the quad test which is a variation on the triple test - I ended up paying privately to have that one done after my high risk result on triple test. Both are non invasive.
  • Oh, I'd have been even more upset and distraught if I'd only had the triple bloods, as it was my bloods that were bad (most likely to due to my spotting on the same day, but that's another story!) so whilst I was terrified about having the Amnio, it was partly ok for me as I knew physically my baby didn't "look downs" if you see what I mean. (But I works both ways... Ladies being out through further testing based on lack of nasal bone in some part of the country only to find baby just has a very tiny nose!)

How confusing! Well I trust that what they are doing is right.......I think!!! Thanks for all your help ladies x
  • I had never heard of the nucheal test until now!
Will check my notes in case something was done at my last scan. My next appointment is at 16 weeks.
But then again I'm in Northern Ireland so prob complete opposite of what is done in England!
  • bought the pram, carrycot attachment, car seat and car seat base today :D went for the babystyle oyster. I'm so chuffed, it's lovely, just had great fun getting it out pushing it round and practicing how to put it up and down hehe.

dead happy, it all feels real and our list of stuff we need to buy is getting smaller :)

Ooh we just bought ours today!

It's coming from 4 different websites to get the colours we wanted and best prices lol! We already have a maxi cosi car seat & base but got all the buggy stuff today!

We got the grape colour pack for the buggy and pink cover for the carry cot, grape foot muff & grape 'apron'! What did you go for?

ooh really 4 websites! that's dedication haha. we went to the kiddicare shop, we were only intending to try it in my car boot see if it fits but then we thought ahh we'll just buy it now, I've not seen it much cheaper other places and it was easy ha!

the only thing I was disappointed in was that you could only order both the carrycot and the pram in plain black, we were planning on buying a grape colour pack anyway but it would have been nice to be able to order it in grape in the first place! have you seen any good deals on the colour packs? I really want the Dalmatian one!

one bargain I did get was the black rose carry cot colour pack for £3!! haha. x

£3 that's amazing!! I like that rose one and it's normally £30 whereas the normal ones are about £25.

We got the mirror chassis from mothercare, as kiddicare is an hours drive from us, so just incase something were to go wrong it's easy for me to get to a store, but the carry cot was cheaper from kiddicare so ordered that from there & clicked on quidco first to get cash back!

Got the grape colour pack (but not really seen any amazing deals on these) from mothercare, so more quidco cash back, and the apron too. I don't think kiddicare had these on their website just other colours like lime & red.

Then got the car seat adaptors from baby lurve. And then the pink carry cot cover from Debenhams Plus as no where else had pink!

When we were in kiddicare (we went once to try out buggys and look At furniture) I saw a reduced I think dalmation buggy pack! They seem to reduce random items in there, maybe display ones or something?!
